Anyone here ever driven or owned an 06-07 Honda Accord 6 speed? I'm really thinking about getting this car but I'm not sure. It had the vtec and produces decent hp and torque, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy a fwd manual. Any input?
Do it it's fine. FWD is a non issue for anything that's not a dedicated race car and even then people make dedicated race cars with FWD. If you're looking for more fun than practicality get yourself any Civic Si you can afford but otherwise it will be a comfy commuter car and that's all it needs to be.
I drive a V6 auto (it might be an '05). The steering is frighteningly unresponsive on gravel roads, but that's not an issue for 99% of people. The trans is probably the worst auto I've ever driven, but with a manual it might even be fun. You can also fit 4 grown people in it (good luck with that in a Civic).

fwd manual was good enough for this kid

Hey /o/ I've got a 2001 Ford Mustang V6 and the transmission just started slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear
The fluids are fine and it's only got 30,000 miles
How fucked am I? I haven't smelled the transmission burning yet so that's a good sign do you think if I flush it and put new fluid in will that help?
>>17484944
you might make it worse by flushing the system, sometimes the crap in the fluid is just enough to keep it working
>>17484953
Do you know how long I have till it grenades on me if I only drive to and from work?
>>17484944
Oh pull the gun out of your mouth and calm down.
Getting a decent independent shop to source and install a rebuilt is not expensive.
Renting a car or using Uber for a few days is also not that expensive.

My muslim friend asked me to do an oil change for him but he says his car only takes Halal motor oil. How can I know if motor oil is Halal without contacting a reputable Imam?
>>17484893
Bumping because I would like to know as well for when the muslims inevitably take over my country.
>>17484893
That's a Sikh you inbred faggot.
Thats a Sikh you fucking idiot they kill Muslims as a religion.
I hear it being brought up a lot, but does a car's >Nurburgerking lap time
actually mean anything?
>>17484750
It means the car is shit to drive on the road.
cars are one giant pissing contest, and for some reason that garbage heap of a track is the king
only if you track your car
There is literally nothing wrong with drunk driving. Most people can handle their alcohol and get themselves home just fine. All the hysteria over it is just another way to criminalize humanities oldest pastime.
Prove me wrong
>you can't
>>17484681
We can look at 40 years of statistics or russian dashcams but where's the fun in that?
Your parents drove shitfaced all the time, your grandparents drove shitfaced most the time and yet you're still here so it can't be that bad.
my friends aunt was killed by a drunk driver. the entitled fucks family was so salty he was going to jail that they kept taking down the shrine my friends family set up on the side of the road.
In 15 years everyone who shits on the gt86 will be hailing it as the new godcar and the best tuning platform in the world.
You are all just poorfags who think a brand new sports car should cost 10 grand or you're rednecks who value a car entirely on horsepower.
True.
no they wont? it's not that great
>>17484447
Still wont be as good as a fiST or a miata
what do you mean by weekend fun car?
getting together with the boys to drive to hooters half drunk and watch sportsball? sure
Good car like all gm
those things are awful
even the later 3800SC fwd models are better
Ok /o/, maybe you can help me. When I turn the key on my car, nothing happens. No clicks or any noises. Battery is fully charged. At first I figured it's the starter, I have had something like this happen on another car and that was the issue. So I put a new one in and nothing changed. So I hooked up one of those buttons you can use to turn the engine over from outside the car, and it turns over just like it should. With that in mind, is it safe to assume my ignition cylinder/switch is the issue here?
Before this happened, it happened to a lesser extent, I turned it over, let off, and it wouldn't do anything the next time. Another note, it's a late 60s car, so there shouldnt be any computer bits causing this issue.
Sure sounds like it. I'd use a multimeter and see if there are any broken connections from the cables going out of the ignition cylinder/switch to the starter relay
Do any interior lights light up? Can you hear the fuel pump priming?
>>17484174
It's a manual fuel pump so I don't think it does that. And yes, a few of the interior lights that do work do come on
>>17484170
Ok I'm glad I'm on the right track at least. I'll try that and see what happens
I have a problem
I'm really considering getting an rx8. I know it's a bad idea and the ammount of shit people will give me is horrendous but I really just like the rotary. I know it's a death trap on the used market because people who buy them don't know how to maintain it. Either way, it's an awful idea and I'll get shit on by everyone if I go through with it. convince me not to get it.
>>17483672
Pls
Enjoy getting more use out of the starter motor instead of the rotary.
Here's a quick rundown on maintenance.
How do modern Chevy and Mopar pushrod V8's compare?
>size
>weight
>powerband
>aftermarket
>efficiency
>revs
Stuff like that? I noticed HEMI swap are extremely rare compared to LS and even Modular swaps
>>17483200
From what i understand the Chrysler Hemi hasn't been updated in a long time so it doesn't feature the technology of Chevy V8s which now have variable valve timing or something else that wasn't on engines like these before.
Its a shame though since the Hemi was once a potent engines with its own advantages from other OHV engines. its unknown how they'd be if properly updated.
Viper engine on the other hand i think that has been getting updated over the years and in one production application would've saw it making 740 HP naturally aspirated (although the car it was going to be in was canned because of regulation changes regarding chassis design).
It always pains me when good engines never get put in mid-engine cars. Ford has a mid engine car but they don't want to use their own V8s. last mid-engine car Chrysler made got canned by their parent company (me4-12) so the chances of the Viper engine (which is still good for meeting emissions) going in anything mid-engine is slim to none.
All i can do is hope some Euro manufacturer comes along and gives us a lightweight-mid mounted Viper like TVR is giving us the Ford V8 powered sports car Ford themselves wont.
>>17483200
Poorfags can't afford crate HEMIs so they use LSs instead. I never understood cross-brand engine swaps. I always see it as a red flag.
>>17483200
The LS/LT family is not only less expensive, but it has more aftermarket and parts swapping as well as being better bang for the buck.

If it works, it works.

About to go look at a 98 f150 with the 5.4l v8 and 4x4. Gots 160k miles on it dude selling it is asking $2600. How bad am i about to fuck my shit up? Never had a ford and have read that this engine likes to eject sparkplugs

If you hear the ticking when it's running one of those plugs is preparing to leave its home for bigger better things
The 5.4 is a piece of garbage. My dad had one for a while and did so much engine work he still has nightmares about having to fix it. So I'd advise the 4.6 if you can.

Does anyone know how much driving I can expect to do on average? It was probably stupid not to think of this beforehand, but I really needed a job. I don't want to build up the kilometers on my car so quickly, and the fact that it eats up gas like nothing means that I'll have to be spending a ton of money on fuel.
I needed a job so I can work on my car, but I don't want to be spending all the money I earn to keep servicing the car every 5,000km or every month or whatever, and I don't want to be spending heaps of money on gas.
Any recommendations/tips? The store doesn't have a dedicated vehicle for deliveries.

why are you and every other millenial completely unaware of temp agencies? there is nothing better you can do, i really doubt Dominos is giving you benefits anyway
What mpg you get?
>>17482197
Temp agencies? Anyways, I've tried a recruiting agency and it's about a month now and they have yet to get back to me. I don't work for Dominos, it's a local pizza place. And we don't have tipping in Australia so I'll be getting about $18/hr.
>>17482200
I have no idea, and I don't know how to find out. I guess I get about 300-350km out of a full tank?
Oh yeah also the car currently has 30,800km on it, and I wanna try to make it last as long as possible. I've already driver 5,000km since buying it back in April and apparently the amount I've driver is too much for such a short period of time.
what does /o/ use to deep clean upholstery after say, an asshole friend shits his pants in the back seat?
