Anyone else here own a Range Rover Classic?
Just picked up this 1990 as a second car/ project vehicle. Its got some issues, a/c is inop (leaking hose), the ABS is dead, and the suspension/ bushings need some attention.
Its a really cool truck though, have always had a fondness for them.

For how much? I'm still kicking myself for not getting one when it was selling for 3k.

Would you buy a base model Corvette?
>>17486225
The people who buy corvettes don't know the difference.
A thread died for this...
>>17486225
The accessories aren't what the extra cost is.
>>17485947
Clay bar, polish, and wax it. Drive on weekends. And maintain this gem. This generation of SL is a future classic.
>>17485947
Why would you? It's beautiful.
And like >>17485968 said, it will probably become a valuable classic in the future.
>>17485947
>selling a SL
fuck you I'd keep that fucker forever
>DOWNshift to go faster.
What did they mean by this?
Shorter gear ratios give better acceleration. If you are not near redline and want to get to a higher speed, downshift to get a shorter gear ratio and to probably bring your car into the powerband. This gives you the ability to accelerate better.
This is probably a shitpost I don't know why I'm responding.
>>17485598
Yeah but if that's true why do we shift up to go faster?
Why don't we keep downshifting into -5th gear?

Please go away
>All good old cars are ether rusting way or rising in cost
>all new cars are shitty ugly pigfats filled with e-nanny shit most normies want but almost never use
>all these ev,hydrogen and other government subsidized meme fuels with all the problems of regular gas cars, and then some, and with no advantage over then
Are we entering dark age of cars, boiz?
>>17484587
>literally the best age of cars is now
uhh no
youre just le wrong generation
>>17484634
This. Cars are so beautiful now. Something tells me OP wasn't driving from 1990-2010 i.e. the two shittiest decades in automotive aesthetic history.
kind of apples to oranges, but im torn between getting one of two ROADSTERS.
im currently driving an e30 and plan to sell it when i get a replacement. ive had 2 NA miatas in the past and miss driving one, so thats option A. however, im also considering trying something new and going for an s2k, as theres a clean one for what seems to be a decent price available in the area.
option A: 92 miata, sunburst yellow, 126k miles for $3200
option B: 2003 s2000, suzuka blue metallic, 122k miles, $6900
the minutae of the two isnt too important, both manual/clean titles/mostly stock. i plan on buying, driving for probably 2 years, then selling when i move. however, what i cant decide is whether to go back to a known quantity in the form of the miata or eat the higher cost of ownership (repairs/tires/insurance/etc.) and probably more money lost between buying/reselling and give the s2k a shot. i should probably go with the miata and save more money for a house down payment like a good little normie, but I wanted to get /o/s thoughts on the matter
>>17484318
Get the Miata, the s2k isn't as fun even though it's a better car. Also Miata has more trunk space for what that's worth.
The S2000 obviously.
INFINITELY more practical, choose the Miata if you have a tight budget though, it's bretty good as well.
for what its worth re:practicality, i never carry anyone or anything around in my car and will mostly just be commuting to work and back (~10 miles interstate).
>>17484331
that being said im curious in what ways an s2k is infinitely more practical cause to me they both just seem like otherwise useless 2-seaters
What did she mean by this?

>>17484240
the instrument cluster on the bmw e30 is a really nice orange, so it would probably look nice with the orange streetlights

I have always suspected, and it's now being borne out, that being "into" fast cars was nothing to do with performance, or handling, or engineering. It was about making loud noises and getting dirty and feeling manly.
Now that every car on the road can do 130mph, nobody cares. Now that electric cars/bikes out-accelerate everything else, nobody cares. Now that even Harley Davidson have electric models, nobody cares.
It was never about the engineering. It was about making noise, and being seen to make noise.
Formula One is as boring as fuck, since they keep making silly rules to dial everything back to "safety". Noisy cars are boring as fuck, since every decent car is whisper silent and can out-perform all the others. Even convertibles - why on EARTH is it at all fashionable to show the world that you can't afford air-con and would rather have every bug smacking you in the face?
Fact is, the ICE's days are numbered. Environmental factors, cost, wear on parts, etc. Almost every car on the road is technically better than a Formula One car from my parent's generation. You can't really speed anyway because of the cameras, and even when you do, they are designed so that it doesn't actually feel fast at all (a dangerous combination).
How about we get over "WOAH! CARS ARE BIG AND LOUD AND NOISY AND LOOK AT ME COMING!", finally?
>>17483768
>every bug smacking you in the face
You know that the windshield still stays up? I personally like targas/t-tops better cause i just want an open roof, not an open roof, back, and side.
There just isn't anything interesting about Tesla cars aside from the fact that they're electric. They're just appliances that happen to be fast. They're not particularly pretty or ugly, not something that hasn't been done before, and not even really that innovative.
And fuck those damned touchscreens.
>>17483768
AC motors are for wimps, gotta go for that DC whine and torque. also, real electric cars are 2 speed gearboxes or 4 motors.

my total hp of all my cars is over 700
does that count?
Anyone have any idea how much weight these posts could support? The factory brackets are flimsy, but I am talking about the bolt itself and if I were to put something heavier duty in it's place such as an anchor for rock climbing. Thinking of a way to hang a hammock from my car to a tree.
>>17483222
Find one in a junkyard and keep adding weight until it breaks
>>17483239
I don't mean the bracket itself, I mean the load that the bolt (connected to the body) could support before failing. The factory on the left is the stock bracket, right is a climbing anchor. Significantly different geometry on both. Factory would undergo plastic deformation long before the climbing anchor, even though the gauge is similar.
One and only bump
So I've been saving money for my first car and I don't even have a driving licence yet. I have like 6k saved up already and plan on buying a 240sx to learn how to drift.
All of my friends make fun of me because they think I am going to kill myself. Do you guys think they are right? is a 240sx too much for a new driver?
>want to learn how to drift
You're retarded and will kill your car. Go for it.
>>17482748
you're probably gonna kill yourself when you realize you bought an open diff ka
>>17482752
>>17482753
Why does /o/ hate drifting?
Aside from engine, suspension, performance maintenance, we don't really have threads about superficial car care. Stuff like good/easy soaps/waxes/clay bars/fresheners(besides black ice)/or trunk storage things. What does /o/ use?
>Tfw no qt nieces to wash my car
why live
>>17482415
We used to have /cwg/ car wash generals all the time there big on clay bar and wax and not using drive in car washes
>>17482466
I think I remember those. Might be were I first found out about clay bars actually.
