How hard would it be to swap in a Porsche's boxer 6 cyl into a Toyobaru in order to have more power but retain the cool low-gravity-center driving characteristics?
come on, has nobody really thought about this?
>>17562922
cause EJ20/25 or what ever the new boxer 2.0 turbo is now in the latest WRX would be probably a more logical choice.
Also seem to be solid formula for making power with the old EJ20/25.

Idiot.
Hello /o/, would anyone recommend a 240sx as a daily? I wanted one for a while now and met this guy in Tampa who rebuilds 240s. Am I making a mistake?
>>17562787
>Am I making a mistake
yes, get a civic
no, it has a fuckinng hardbody drivetrain, it is bulletproof if mantained correctly
No don't.
Hey /o/ i have the opportunity to pick up a 5.3 lm7 long block with 60,000 miles for $600. I'm thinking about rebuilding it to replace my 340,000 engine that's in my truck. How easy is it to rebuild an engine using basic hand tools and what tools do i need? IF i fully rebuild it i will use all oem parts and maybe some performance parts (arp head studs, ls1 head gaskets, cam swap.) Any advice appreciated thanks.

$500 or no deal
>>17562746
Depends how far you want to rebuild it. It's kinda hard to tell tolerances of a lot of parts without a machinist cabinet, and you can't really hone and deck without a machine shop.
At 60k Miles, I'd just drop it in. A proper rebuild is like 3k lol.
>>17562746
most of it will be a good socket set and a torque wrench
if you want to make your life easy an engine stand and a cherry picker
if the engine only has 60k on it i'd imagine the engine doesn't need much work unless it was abused

Would this make a good first bike? My cousin is selling it and he says he will give me a good deal if I want it. I know everyone is gonna say I'll crash but honestly I'll only go fast on open highways and I've driven some 125 dirt bikes before so I know how to handle a bike just fine only never driven one on a road one before. I was gonna buy a Camaro or mustang for weekend cruising but this seems way more fun what do you guys think? U can still get an R33 for less than a CIVIC right now lmao
Why are you not grabbing the R33 right now while they are cheaper than civics? Literally normies give 2 fucks about this car right now

is it true that the chevy small block is the best and most versatile engine ever made?
>pic related
>>17561797
It's parroted as "cheap and easy" power by people that thing cross brand engine swaps are good ideas.
>>17561861
To be honest I'm all for whatever works best for my wants, the answer just isn't always the a Chevy motor.
>>17561861
That's because it is cheap and easy. A 350 can be had for under 500 and responds very well to boost as well as internals
How much do you guys spend each year on maintenance? At what point do you consider getting another car? I spend around 2k so far, 2000 4runner
um...well....pretty much whenever I just need an oil change or something, so not much?
>>17561761
Up to the depreciated value of the car when you intend to sell it divided by the number of years.
>>17561761
Between $300-1500 depending on what needs to be done. For example, this year I've spent $1300 between new tires and oil changes, but the previous year I only spent $500 on oil changes, trans/diff oil, coolant, and hoses. Next year I anticipate I'll need to do timing belt/water pump/spark plugs/valve cover gaskets, so I'm probably looking at a $1000 year.
Here's the thing - all cars need maintenance. It makes no sense to sell my car should a $1000 repair pop up, because I'll just fix it and go on for another 1-3 years before the next expensive repair. There's no guarantee that spending $5000-10000 or more on a different car won't bring on a whole new set of potentially expensive problems.
Only poorcucks and idiots buy a different car because repair costs exceed its "value." It's pretty much always more economical to keep a shitbox running than it is to replace it unless the whole car is pretty much fucked front to back.
ITT: list of cars that arent made in their country of origin anymore
this doesnt count for cars that are made in multiple countries like how a Toyota Corolla is made in a fuckton of countries but still make some in Japan since the origin is Japanese
First Off: Holden Commondore and Holden Monaro. French cunts make it now instead of Australia where the Monaro is now dead
>>17561538
>French cunts make it now
Wait wut, for who? Vauxhall?
>>17561538
The factory doesn't close for another few months. For now we still have the last few genuine Commodores to make.
I don't know why they bother keeping the name going when it will be a FWD piece of garbage eurotrash. They should have the decency to just lay it to rest like Ford did with the Falcon.
>>17561552
Vauxhall is the british brand. its pretty much the same company
>>17561594
wait seriously?? theres still some made in australia?
Going to look at this tomorrow /o/
Probably gonna go for it, I have always had my heart set on one.
Anyone got any input? Ever had one? Things to look for?
Am I doing good?
My daily is a 17 WRX, but it just doesn't have dem 90's car feels I crave so much

Go for it son. The 3sgte is gr8 but you might want to avoid hard launches as some of those drivetrain parts are rare/expensive
Indisputably the greatest car of the decade.
OP still choking on dicks, also Indisputable
Made in Mexico
It's good but that's a bit of an over statement.
>try to recreate old school muscle cruiser
>not offered as a convertible
FUCKING WAT!
The damn thing already weighs over two tons. The engine probably can't handle any more weight.
The new camaro convertible has the aesthetics of a Nissan Crossbariolet, and the new mustang convertibles are the same to a lesser extent. The Challenger would be the worst offender of this if offered in a convertible.
>tfw new Hellcat is AWD
They should've done this at the start.
I just test drove a ws6 trans am with 82k miles. It's crazy cheap only $5200 but has some problems. Please I need some serious answers should I buy this.
Pros:
> Ridiculously fast for the price, 340+ hp and ran a sub 5 second 0-60 from a rolling start when I tested it. Got up to 120 no problem
> Mostly stock, exterior is decent and good tires and shifted decent on the highway
> I can assrape any ricer retard I meet at a stoplight
Cons:
> has been totaled from a front end crash, rebuilt title and no airbags
> electronics are p bad, windows doesn't work
> autotragic
> t tops
> has these error codes ( idk are these bad??)
> oil pressure gauge was flying around once I stared driving it hard also slightly drifted to right when I started driving it
> interior looked like a rabid badger tore through it
Well /o/ wat do? It's not gonna last long at this price I need to make a decision in a day or two
>>17561071
3k civic. In manual.
>buying an auto trans am ever
>>17561071
its going to last at that price because its a piece of shit.
>>17561071
Seems like it's got a lot of problems. If you aren't ready to take them on, I'd pass. That front end crash and pulling to the right are pretty big red flags. For that price you could get a pretty nice third gen trans am with a 350 and have a grand or two to put into it. Might want to consider that
