Anybody use these personal spring compressors for replacing struts at home? I have to replace front suspension components on my E92 and am not willing to give my kidneys to the dealership to do so. How safe are these things? Not necessarily the ones in pic, but that style.

I've seen Motor Trend use them as well as the less professional channels. Don't be stupid about it and you should be fine.
>>
They're safe enough as long as you do them so that there is alway pressure on both sides

Make sure to get ones where the teeth fit smoothly with the coil itself, and be fucking careful handling it - I put my compressed coils in another room when I'm not taking them out or putting them back in
>>
>>17582355
They get dangerous when you have tall and thin coilovers like from older Hondas. Bigger struts shouldn't have a problem.

As long as you don't aim the spring at your head and secure it with a vice or something, you should be okay.

2013 Mustang GT vs. 2015 Challenger R/T

Which should I get and why? No memes please, just facts. Being heavier means nothing to me if it's also faster.

Your only option to truly know is to test both. I'd test the Mustang second. The fast Challengers are the Scat Packs, the R/Ts aren't slow but the Mustang will dust on them a fair bit, as well as handle better. BUT the Challenger has much more usable back seats and looks cooler.
>>
>>17582060
Insurance on challengers just spiked $350 just so you know.
>>
>>17582060
5.0 with bolt on tune has been very successful. You can tune it for high rpm redline also.
Hemi is nice but if you have jdm background, you would appreciate mustang more I think

Looking at getting an 80s-90s Jaguar XJS/XJ12.
I know these things cost a lot for yearly upkeep, but how high am I looking for a daily driver? I most likely won't be able to wrench it my own.

5 quadrillion dollars per mile you put on the car, especially since the mechanics will rip you off each timw you go in.
>>
>>17581614
I seriously believe that is the most unreliable production car ever made this side of 1950

If you can't wrench it yourself then it is about the worst thing in the world you could buy. Stop.

The ICE getting banned

or

Non self driving cars being banned
32 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>17581426
non self driving cars.

the only ones who want to ban them are commies. commies hate the idea of people being self-sufficient and being able to do things themselves. the state should transport them.

if non self driving cars do get banned, it means we're living in a commie world where there's no reason for anyone to ever aspire to get ahead, meaning all innovation is stifled and humanity regresses.

Controlling the means of transport is an actual plank of the communist manifesto, by the way.
>>
Neither. Cars getting more and more and more unaffordable because of all the bullshit regulations they keep piling on and piling on and piling on until the only people who can afford them are the 10% and everyone else is riding the bus or the nu-bus.
>>
>>17581426
Human drivers getting banned and tracks getting closed. At the very least electric cars can be made fun.

So for me it came down to these 4 for my first car
all are in my price range, and the ones in pic related are the ones for sale
which would be the safest option to go with as a first car, I've heard that the corrado can be a money pit though

I love that car but don't do it unless you're willing to spend a lot of time and money fixing it.

>which would be the safest option to go with as a first car
The Celica. Pick one.
>>
>>17581218
I understand why the corrado wouldnt be the smartest choice
but arent E30s easy to keep running, especially with how many there are here (balkan)

Made a thread yesterday about getting a first car for docu filmmaking/long distance travel/rough country driving purposes, so good fuel economy and 4wd are important

Thread tiemd out before a conclusive answer was found

So, what are my best choices for around £1000?

Would a Subaru Impreza 2.0 GX 4dr be ok, or would insurance be too high? I'm a 22 year old male, if that matters
Or should I go for a Mini 1.6 Cooper for £900 because of the excellent fuel economy, as I will be on a tight budget?
Or something entirely else?

pls help

>>17581186
Impreza is probably way out of your budget, if you really really want a Subaru I'd look for a cheap Legacy(4WD and better fuel economy for less money).
>>
>>17581196
well in the UK the 2.0 gx used goes for £700-£1600 usually, I found one in good condition for £1100
>>
>>17581196
will check out the Legacy though, thanks

Yes I did and he told me that it was policy that they don't allow test drivers on their high end cars. I still pressed and he went and talked with his manager and when he came back he still said no.

I'd find a different dealer. Tell them how you'd like to buy the car and just want to try it out first. Then explain the bullshit about the other dealer. They'll love to call them up and say they sold a car to you. A Cadillac dealership near me brought out an ATS-V and 2 CTS-V cars out just for test driving one time. So they're out there.

I kinda want to buy one but my coworker says they look gay and he can crush me with his new edge mustang with subframe connectors and a cold air intake. Are they fun to drive though? And how is the manual transmission?

>>17579535
They're shit. They burn oil and have shit interiors. Just spend 15k on a g37. If you can't afford that just get a civic for 3k.
>>
>>17579535
>I kinda want to buy one but my coworker says they look gay
Disregard. He is probably gay for you. Hide your pecker in the bathroom.

>he can crush me with his new edge mustang
Nah. Those are pretty slow.

>subframe connectors
No idea wtf that is honestly

>cold air intake
Lol

>Are they fun to drive though?
Sure.

>And how is the manual transmission?
Not bad, but nowhere near Honda. Clutch takes some getting used to.

Look. These aren't bad for the price, but still pretty shit. Get a G35/37.
>>
>>17579647
I found a 2003 six speed with only 20k miles for 8,000 that seems like a great deal though doesn't it? I couldn't get a g37 it's too expensive and a g35 is the same just heavier so why would I want a g35? Srs.
