any recommendations about learning about how to handle cars.
ps. this is coming from someone without any knowledge at all, but with a geniune intrest for learning about cars

i guess the basics, and later to move on to know when a cars is faulty so either i can repair it or destain from buying a faulty car
>>17512275
fuck me i guess both of those are basics repairing, maintaining and adding and removing parts of a car
Should I buy a Nissan Stagea?
>>17512077
The 260RS model is cool. Nothing extraordinary otherwise. Arguably easier to work on than a Legacy, but Subarus are easy too if you aren't retarded.
>>17512077
ah yes, i saw the video as well OP
>>17514386
MCM?
Yes Stagea a best JDM goon
Sup h/o/mies!
Someone posted a car like pic related on a thread yesterday. I had no idea what it was. Someone red pill me on this Lotus?
Also britfag general thread.

Rover engines are gutter trash.
Supposed to be great to drive and they hold their values very well.
the british have poor dental hygiene

b-but, my favorite manufacturer... How can this be... I love them so much, this has to be a misunderstanding, r-right?
>>17511674
So basically the engines in the pleb-tier diesel versions of the Cayenne, Macan and Panamera (which are Audi units).
Porsche did nothing wrong.
Is this news, though? I thought this was obvious because they were using the same exact powertrains anyway.

EVERY. SINGLE. AUTOMAKER. DOES. THIS.
>You have been chosen by an automotive company of choice to select a location for a new design studio with the goal of helping them find new inspiration for car design and wider company culture. Where would you place it ,why, and who would you do this for?
>>17511653
I'd put it in Washington DC, because it seems the Feds are the ones really in charge of car design these days. And it shows, too.
>>17511653
Colorado.
It contains most of the proving grounds automotive companies use, tech hub is pretty big, lots of manufacturing in Denver, many people moving in from everywhere, and lots STEM schools/graduates.
I would hate it since it would only bring more people here, but it's an honest answer.

>can only keep up with an E46 M3 on the straights, anywhere else it's fucked
>VAG electronics
>commonly owned by cunts and/or vapelords/stancefags
>engine ahead of the front axle, only defining handling characteristic is terminal understeer
>plenty of power potential, but modding decreases the already not exactly stellar reliability exponentially
And none of this is enough to stop me from liking them, or even wanting one.
>mini
who buys these?
personally i'd much rather have a polo hatch or even a fiesta
how long till tata buys them out and turns the brand around?
pic related, the only half decent model they make and it's yuge as fuck
>>17511518
People who want a nice car? The cars you mentioned are shitboxes. The mini is actually a nice place to be.

I drove a john cooper works for a while and holy shit are they fun
wouldn't buy a base or an s tho
Who here /spicyshiftknob/?
My shit gets so god damn hot I keep an oven mitt in my center console for my shifting hand.

What is /o/'S opinion on this car and what should I know about it
>>17511351
donk it
>>17511351
Cheap run around. Just drive it and leave it alone.
>>17511351
Commuter econobox. Slow, predictable handling, good MPG. Keep up on oil changes.
Thinking about buying one of these, are the Ford and Chevy variants pretty much the same? Also how are the 302s/305s from these things? Are these only worth it if I can get a 350?
So i decided i want to be a nigger and install subwoofers on my 07 avalanche
Now my truck has the stock GPS screen stereo which i really like and dont want to get rid of, but a dude told me if i want subs im going to have to get an aftermarket headunit
So my question is, can i install subs and keep my stock stereo, and if i can will the bass be severely hindered?
>>17510948
Gm products usually have good stereos. Stop being a nigger. The stock system is perfectly adequate
Yes, if you use a line out converter or use speaker level inputs on an amp that supports it

hey /o/
you are given a complete stock roadster with an inline 4 engine doing slightly below 200HP, a 240kph/150mph topspeed thanks to a retardedly long 5th gear, manual obviously and a rather stiff suspension
what do you do and in which order, to get your ride ready for the racetrack? rule: "realistic" modding eg. no fucking 6L V8 engine swap (neither would it fit nor would the transmission survive it)
i thought something like this in order of most important to least:
1. tires
2. coilovers(?)
3. replace entire exhaust system
4. cold air intake
5. ECU reprogramming
6. ???
add to the list and swap things around
random unrelated miata because it is the first thing that comes up if you google roadsters
sell and buy suv
Tires and wheels
Chassis reinforcement
Brake pads and fluid
Coils and dampers
That's about it for me.
>>17510930
shit i totally forgot about the brakes, would probably do that right after tires
Who here /supertech/?
>skip Mobil oil and filter for Supertech and save $15 at Walmart
>extra money pays for better cleaning chemicals
My car is a 2009 Nissan maximabwith 174k miles. I figured I start using cheaper oil since the body may rust out/trans fail before the engine goes.
>>17510806
2000 Nissan maxima*
>>17510790
I use supertech in my shitboxes, rotella T6 in anything that's high performance, dirt bikes etc
IIRC it's made by mobil for walmart, it has ASE certs, and it costs 12 dollars for 5 quarts, what's not to like?
I don't even change my oil filter every time, last one I waited two changes before putting a fresh filter on lol.
I also go about 7-8k miles on non-synthetic usually.
Hey /o/,
I have way too much money into this car with little to show for it, and I'm thinking my only chance to get rid of it and recoup some of my losses is to overhaul the exterior and swap in a better engine.
I'm looking for ideas for paint colors/styles, as well as engine swap ideas. I'm in CA, so any swap I do needs to be from a car sold in the US, newer than 1980, with smog equipment intact. My buddy proposed a 3SGE swap, but I think I'll have better luck with another Nissan motor and trans. I want to keep it RWD if possible.
Wat do?

>>17510826
dank but 'spensive. What's the reputation of this engine and its manual tranny like?
>>17511070
6-speed tranny, pretty standard (hehe)
In stock form the engine is great and can really be wrung out with no worries
gobs more torque than vq35
Sounds similar to VR38DETT without the turbo spool once it has been decatted
Probably not practical with a budget in mind but would modernize the shit out of your datsun
>1956 Volkswagen Beetle

>fenders, door skins, engine lid, front trunk lid, running boards and bumpers
are all aluminum.
Is this the ultimate sleeper? If not, what is?
>>17510769
Make that a 930 turbo engine and maybe it'd be worth something.
>Rear mounted.
VW type 1 was RR anyways so not sure why that needed mentioning.
>>17510878
>Make that a 930 turbo engine and maybe it'd be worth something.
The 4 cam engine is period correct and worth a lot more. I think that's why it makes sense on this one.
>>17510977
Period correct, worth more, and slower.
