How much would it cost me to buy the Chassis/body of a 1970's Dodge Charger?
>>17543709
More than you can afford pal
>>17543724
You sure about that?
What's popping /o/ I'm starting up community college this fall (chill I'm 19) and I need a car to get from home to campus each day. I went around to some local dealers and I saw this lil beauty
http://www.autoheadquartersnj.com/mobile/mdetails.aspx?VID=11178092 I've heard that some Saabs can be a little unreliable and can be a real bitch to repair. I need this thing to be up and running week long for classes and on the weekends for dicking around at the beach. I don't need the car to last forever, just 5-6 years while I'm doing college and saving up money to get a newer car. Should I get it? Or should i go for a more basic car like this Chevy Cobalt http://www.autoheadquartersnj.com/mobile/mdetails.aspx?VID=11179114 help a nigga out
Seeing as how those cars are only $500 apart I would say get the saab since you are going to like it more and regret buying a cobalt.
Also good luck on the community college I just finished my first year and about to start my second in August
I am in NJ and was originally gunning for a Saab, but was a day late unfortunately. I still dream of that pretty '99 9-3 turbo convertible, it was pretty.
That being said, though, a lot of these post-02 Saabs have sludge issues. Research the shit out of it.
If you're going to a dealer, make sure you know how long the thing's been on the lot. Learn how to negotiate at dealerships, or in general. Make sure there isn't something else better than you can or will want to buy. Learning manual on your own may be scary, but it might get you a better car considering stuff in your range is going to be mid-00's cars with shit auto transmissions.
>local dealer
Naw nigga, you bout to start community college and you tryna get fucked up with a dealer? Nigga money is already a problem, and you wanna fuck it up more with a dealership scamming your college bucks? You got me fucked up brody, highkey just sit on craigslist and watch that shit. It's a mountain of shit but you gotta sift to find the goodshit. You live in in NJ so there's bound to be some good shit lying around. Since you finna save and try to sell the car anyway just settle for some cheap honda civic beater because those shits are pretty fucking good on mpg without memeing. My homie had one and that nigga was poor as fuck and could still afford to keep it on the road. If you finna be going to the beach and being out and about get a shitty hatchcivic then or even a ranger truck. Nigga you in community college so you aint gotta worry about lookin clean because nigga everyone there will be as poor as you. Trust me nigga.

>>17543636
>cracked needs advertising on 4chan
its like the normiest channel around.
Are these still sold? How hard is it to find one and what is usually a reasonable price range? Do mechanics still serve them?
>>17543227
no
not too hard
price range varies what generation you want, but usually somewhere around 15k for an H2, maybe less for an H3. H1's will run you about 50k
of course they do
>>17543227
I'll give you a hummer for 20 bucks
>>17543508
Hummer and a chicken feed?
What car does your waifu drive? Mine drives a 50s GM landbarge.
a challenger demon, and she'd tease me about how it's faster than my car
Do cars with carburetors have distributors ?
for the most part. Some have HEI. some have magneto ignition
>>17543184
I just don't understand why I have heard so many people say carburetor cars have no distributors.
>>17543199
I don't know who you are talking to but almost all carb'd cars have a distributor.
Who the hell thought this would be a remotely good idea?
>>17542862
>>17542862
Is it your first time seeing a Jeep with no doors or something?
>>17542862
all wranglers have removable doors you fucking retard
Why do cars keep getting worse every year?
Before, you had air conditioning controls, and radio/CD/etc.
Now, everything has to connect to a smartphone and have a giant-ass touchscreen.
I can understand using new technology for useful things like safety features, but I don't want my car to have built-in wireless vibrating dildo controls or a fidget spinner app. Where does it end?
People expect their cars to be extensions of their homes/offices now. Electronic everything, connected, always engaged and entertained. There's nothing you can do to stem the tide, technology marches on. If you want to be a Luddite go buy a Lotus Exige or a pre-2000 car that barely even has power anything. No one's forcing you to buy a modern car.
Every car is now required to have a backup camera now. So since they are forced to have a screen they integrate controls to cut costs.
What is the best way to learn more about car maintenance and parts online?
>>17542557
There are youtube video walkthroughs on most car maintenance jobs nowadays.
pirate a haynes manual for your car and read it

Where's the Mama Gator when you needed her?
>>17542493
brakes and clutch are made of material that warp when they are hot and being burnt by a nigga trying to escape alligators
after they cool down, they could be fine
Any particular reason you didnt stop for .36 seconds and slam it into 4L? Aside from this story being entirely fabricated on the spot
So I've been looking at cars for a while now, and I found a great one on craigslist but the guy is being kind of sketchy and I was wondering what you guys thought. Anyway, I text the guy to set something up and we're supposed to meet Saturday, he accepts cash or checks. Saturday morning I ask him for his name so I can get the check filled out, and he last minute says cash only. I talk to him a bit, and he says a check is alright as long as we meet on a weekday when the banks are open. So basically he won't sell me the car unless he gets the money the day of. Is this something to be worried about /o/? I've talked to a couple people and they say it's pretty obvious that something must be wrong with the car and that he hopes to just pocket the cash day of, while I get screwed when I find something wrong with the car. I must say, it's very suspicious that he won't take a check over the weekend. Again, what do you guys think? Is it a scam?
>>17542481
yeah sounds shady, don't do it.
>>17542486
Thanks anon, I'll keep that in mind, I really wanted to get some other opinions on this.
>>17542481
Wtf no this is not sketchy. You would not be driving off with my car until i cash that check at YOUR bank. Expect that to be the scenario.
I want a silver spur
I can find them near me from 20-30k
It wouldn't be a bad idea, would it?
I read the maintenance isn't as bad as a used Continental or Arnage
Anything breaks, where are you going to find parts? How much are filters, spark plugs, brake components etc.
>shitbox breaks down
>spend $1000+ to repair it at a mechanic shop
>sell it immediately after getting it working again
Do these people honestly believe it's cheaper to buy a different car that might have worse/unknown problems right after getting their old one running well?
>>17542109
do you honestly think that people that are willing to spend $1000 on a repair cares if the end result saves them money?
here's a hint:
no.
here's a scenario:
you always eat at mcdonalds care-free
but one day you find a rat foot in your big mac.
are you still going to eat there the same way that you usually do?
no. everytime you go to that restaurant, you're going to be a little more hesitant about your big mac. you have doubt.
for some people, a little bit of doubt is enough for them to get rid of their car. just like how some people avoid restaurants, stores, etc. because of bad experiences.
>>17542109
People are retarded, CALL CNN!
>>17542175
You're retarded, go away
>>17542109
>cv axles clicking

>throw some ultra black on to it
