What do you guys think of the Mazdaspeed 6?
Anyone here use a soft-top in a harsh winter city? How bad did it suck compared to a hard top?
I'm in Edmonton, and want to buy my dream car soon, but it's soft top and soft doors only.

It sucks unless you can park it somewhere dry every night. I didn't so mold started to grow on the inside where moisture collected, had to garage it and treat the top to kill the mold.
I'm 18 years old and have had my license and car for about 6 months now, and I love driving. When I'm at home or in class, all I can think about is getting back in my car and just driving.
Most of my friends who have had their licenses for about a year seem to hate driving. They only drive when it's absolutely necessary or when everyone goes on a night out and there aren't enough cars to fit people.
Before getting their license, it's all they talked about. How they were going to get their license and start driving everywhere all the time. I didn't bother with getting my license and left it really late because I didn't think I'd need a car, and didn't even really care about cars until I started taking driving lessons.
Could this fun just be because I'm only 6 months into driving? Am I going to hate it a few years from now? Or could it be because I own my own car, whereas my friends drive their parents/family car?

>Could this fun just be because I'm only 6 months into driving? Am I going to hate it a few years from now?
how the flying fuck do we know how youre going to feel about a specific thing in the future? if you continue to enjoy it, great. if you dont, oh well. life goes on regardless.
>>17552295
I think it depends more on the person anon. I haven't been driving long either(only about a year) and I love it still.

>life goes on regardless
OOH YEAH
LIFE GOES ON
LONG AFTER THE THRILL OF LIVING IS GONE
I normally hate bikes and bikers but I love this style and would like something like it.
From my googling its the Indian bikes from around 1940's but there are similar and more modern Triumph Bonneville's and Brough Superior.
Of the bikes in this style
>Which is the cheapest to purchase or maintain?
>Which is the nicest looking?
>Which sounds the nicest?
>What are they like to ride? (cruiser, sporty, etc.)
gs500
Triumph and Indian brands may have what you're looking for.
That kind of motorcycle is pretty fun to ride, the feeling depends if you go for a sporty type (Triumph Bonneville, Scrambler...) or a cruiser type (Indian scout, Harley ..), usually you can expect a playful motor with good sensations but crappy outdated handling (can add to the fun to be honest).
The best sounding is arguably the triumph Thruxton, this shit is amazing.

What's the biggest loss you've taken on a car /o/?
Well for the exact opposite, I bought a tacoma for 26k, put 20,0000 miles on it, and sold it to carmax for 26k. Just lost $ on taxes and registration for 2 years
Bought a 93 celica for a thousand. Had it for 4 days, synchros on 2nd blew, spent 1k getting a new old trans put in it, trans had fucked synchros as well, sold it for a thousand
>>17552057
>Bought 240Z for 5k
>Put another 3k into fixing it up.
>Family emergency and reverted it to stock and sold for 3500.
>Still hold some parts, have probably made about 1k back in other part sales.
Hey /o/, just picked this up. PO said he wasn't aware, but it leaks oil. Thing is, he did an oil change with the bike on the kickstand, not stood up. He overfilled it by a significant amount. The bike leaks while its running, but when I shut it off and park it, it only leaks for about an hour, then stops. Is the bike just spitting out the extra oil? I tried siphoning it, but I think I might just do an oil change and get it right. It has had frame sliders for years, and the fairings aren't trashed. Is it a cracked case, or is this just a normal effect of overfilling? I'll post a pic of what the dipstick looks like.
It wouldn't hurt to do the oil change and get it right. You can also add the oil you prefer now. Send pic of where oil is coming from? If I have to park my bike in the sun and its hot. I leak gas from the over flow tube and it looks like oil because oil on ground from other cars. Nice bike though
>>17552034
Thanks! Got it for $900 with 13k, steal if this isn't a cracked case. Looks like the right side, gonna pull the fairings though to make sure
Opinions on Toyo Proxes CF2?
Also which brands are to be avoided at all cost (Europe/UK).
>>17551996
Summer Nokians, but winter Nokians are best winter.
>>17551996
Get Michelins. They're the best.
I dunno if Pirelli still make the P6000 but IMO the meme about them being shit only applies to small cars, they were fine on my mondeo.
avoid any tyre shops "budget/mid range" offers, avoid Nankang/arrowspeed/"event" tyres (the even being your firey death). If you are not fussed about price get continental/michelin/dunlops, if you are on a budget get Hankook Ventus/Uniroyal Rainsport tyres. I put Hankook Ventus on a 300bhp Focus ST mk2 and they handled the power and enormous torque-steer really well imo.

Who do you think is more at fault for "shitty" cars nowadays, /o/: the manufacturer's cheap processes or the consumer's abuse of what is considered a cheap car?
40 years ago the answer would clearly be "manufacturer" but we really don't see too many lemons in the market anymore.

These are whats known as "SAVs" or Sports Activity Vehicle.
It is to SUVs what the UTE is to trucks.
Last oil change I was at 2.5mm on the front left brake on my nissan frontier. That was about a year ago. I'm about to bring it back in for an oil change and inspection... should I be expecting to have a higher bill for new brake pads this time around? Is 2.5mm a year ago time for brake pad replacement now?
>>17551295
Brakes every 50k and rotors every 100k
>>17551295
2.5 mm should've been changed when you found them at 2.5 mm

gonna be replacing the transmission in my 99 taurus next month, its slipping semi regularly from 1st to 2nd. ive never done a job this big before. i was wondering if any of you guys had experience with anything like this, any kind of advice you can give me? i dont have an engine lift, i was thinking of using a support bar on the fenders to keep the engine up. thanks in advance for the help, and for the jokes about me owning a taurus
oh, and its the 3.0 v6 automatic, guess i shouldve mentioned that
Hey /o/, what's your opinion on the MX3?
Never seen one irl, I did see a MX6 recently though
Good cars, a little gutless but rev nice and handle like go carts.
Mx6 engine swaps in easy if you gotta go fast.
>>17550938
>>17550954
saw one of each irl. i'd love to have a v6 mx3 but insurance is way to high on them here.
I know there are cool cars here but apparently not near Russian hill. Is there a better area to search or like meet nearby?
I hear reving in the distance! Fuck why can't I see cars! Duluth ain't got shit.
