Hello /o/, I have a 2006 Defender TD5. My nearest freeway on-ramp is about a 2 minute drive from my house, and I frequently use it whenever I have to enter the freeway. However, to pick up speed when entering the motorway I rev it a lot before shifting up, and of course this is bad for the engine. The next nearest freeway entrance is a 10 minute drive away, I could do that, but that's taking a long time for me and I'd rather enter the freeway sooner than later.
Does anyone have ideas to warm up the motor quickly? I find it doesn't nearly warm up as quickly standing still as when it's in motion. Sometimes when it's cold in the winter I sit with it on a stationary engine for 3 minutes and it's hardly warming up. I could get the same effect with a 1 minute drive.

Well working without a proper set of tools could be a pain. I can't imagine changing my dampers or even brake rotors in just a car park and I don't want to pay mechanics to do that because it'd cost me a fortune in the long run.

I just bought a 2014 Jetta and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
However, one of the guys at the bar today made some remark about how Jettas are one of the gayest cars, which I was completely unaware of. I googled it and I saw that indeed, the Jetta is often listed as one of the gayest cars on the market, close to a Prius. I had no idea...
