Hey /o/, I'm looking to buy a truck for under 10k USD. Preferably extended cab and reliable.

Taco a best

This.
If you need something bigger, get the Tundra. It's crazy reliable that it puts the domestic trucks to shame. One man managed to surpass 1 million miles with no engine replacement, the only thing replaced on the truck was the reverse gear.
Toyota makes the best vehicle.
My GF bought a brotrucked out 2003 Silverado Z71 with the 5.3 for $11k. Shouldn't be that difficult to find a stock V8 truck all the way into the mid 2000's for under $10k. I would say get either a 2003+ Dodge with a hemi or a 4.8/5.3 GM. The Ford 4.6/5.4 lack low end torque and known to cross thread it spit spark plugs, you need a torque wrench to install them at the very least.
New to /o/ and need some feed back
I was told to make instructional videos for my work (Boeing parts).
So I decided to make some Car HOW-TO videos as practice.
These videos need to show a complete fucking moron how to do something.
The forums were far 2 nice to it and didn't give me any criticisms.
Critique the fuck out of my video
be as harsh as you want

Short and to the point, loved the socket size being shown, if anything I would go a touch more in depth, I don't understand why the slot was dremelled.

forgot to mention the notch is for the bolt clearance.

No man, it's the poverty nig nog car (that or the Grand Marq)
Why is ricing dying down and being replaced with abominations like stancing?
>>17591328
The same reason kids don't wear cargo shorts and listen to Nickelback.
They're called fads for a reason.
They're both shit.
>>17591396
spbp
that said, stancing is even worse
Seriously? It handles better than the fit? What the hell is going on here /o/?

The article equates it to the tires but shit man...really?
>>17591306
I could see how that'd be, 185s vs 225s, but the price premium of buying a fit on stilts you could get a normal fit and put wider tires on it.

Excellent, another USA vs x thread. JUST what we need.
Checkmate
Looking at older cars, namely things before 2000 and even JDMs, but I want an alarm. Chances are I'll be innacity or a populated area, so I don't want someone to steal my ride.
Think their worth it? Shits only like $200 and can save a car (pic related)
seriously noone?
>>17590846
the only one worth a shit is a lowjack

Single owner and, in his words, "unmolested".

You're already emotionally attached, get it if run wells, but cool car

Why isn't Honda making a performance version of the Fit like Ford has the Fiesta ST?
I mean Honda sells around 50k(sometimes even more) Fits every year and a performance version could pave the way for more buyers.
They don't want to undercut sales of the Civic Si. If Honda were to put the 1.5T into a Fit, it would be objectively better in every way than the Civic, since it would be lighter and have way more practical cargo space.
>>17590205
Why not just use a low pressure turbo version like VAG used to do with their 1.8T?
I've been asking that for years.
The serious lack of power in the Fit is what is driving me to buy a different car.
>replacing wrecked IS300
>want to buy 2011 Infiniti G37
>insurance quotes me 1100 dollars monthly for 500 collision and comp deductible
>no at fault accidents or moving violations on record since 9 years of driving
WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THIS?!
I understand that as a 25 year old male that my rates will be a little steep, and I was prepared to pay 400 monthly for insurance.
But really? 1100 fucking American dollars? What the fuck. What to do, /o/?
>>17589977
G37 is ugly as fuck. Get a 370z
>>17589977
g37 known for high insurance.
I had mine and made like three claims from wrecking it, it getting egged, etc.
One helluva car senpai, but you can get better cost wise
>>17589983
370z is ugly as fuck. Get a 3k Civic.
What does /o/ think of Elon Musk and Tesla?
He's trying to become the automotive Steve Jobs and so far it seems like he will succeed.
The fanbois are just as crazy.
>>17589991
Steve Jobs could sell Sand to Arabs with his marked up as fuck phones.
Elon apparently can't turn much a profit on his cars.
>>17590014
There are way higher costs involved in making cars than phones and computers.
It will take some time but he'll get there.

I want to change gears going backwards basically, I drive pictured. Basically I've always wanted to race backward, how how would I go about doing that? Do I take out the transmission and put it in backward? Thanks /o/!
>>17589749
easiest way to do that would be to make the engine run backwards
>>17589749
>Do I take out the transmission and put it in backward?
??!? Yes do this.
Backwards you say.
Has anyone done any car flipping?
I'm currently in school trying to become a teacher. As a teacher I will have summer's off so I'm trying to look at ways I can make some money with the time off. can I actually make money?
Here is what my car experience is so far, I fixed up a turd gen with my dad when I was in 8th grade to when I was 16. what we did was bought one shitty camaro to use as the base. then we would buy a $200-$300 one off craigslist that was basically an inch from death. we stripped every usable part off and the recycled the body just about recouped the cost just by recycling it. then we kept and used all the parts we needed, and saved a few extras of stuff that commonly breaks. we sold all the other parts on craigslist and ebay. a lot of the little random stuff we ended up selling on ebay just for the shipping price just to get rid of it and to help someone else out. we used 3 of those $200-$300 and our original one. selling rear hatches for a couple hundred and stuff like that we made enough for a paint job and an I-ROC motor(ours had the 305)
So, do you think I know what I'm doing enough to earn some extra money in the summers?
>>17588936
I ain't reading that shit nigger.

Trying to become a teacher. teachers have summers off and I would like to earn some extra money. I'm considering trying to flip cars or part stuff out to earn money
here's my car experience
>fix up a turd gen camaro with my dad
>bought 1 for $800 and 3 for $200-300 each
>tear everything usable off the $200-$300 ones
>use parts we need, recycle the bodies, and sell extra parts on craigslist and ebay
>recoup money by recycling the bodies and make extra cash by selling extra parts
>selling extra parts pays for a new paintjob and a rebuilt motor
do I have enough to try flipping and can i actually make money?
>>17588936
I have the same plans OP, but really tools are tools. Figure out what parts do what and how they are held in place and you can pretty fix anything. You only learn from doing so even if you buy a car that doesn't go well for you you'll still learn.
Some fucking wagon burner stole my car last night. Cops found it on the reservation, no arrest. Now the cops won't let me have the car until tomorrow. The driver's window is busted out and it's going to rain today. Fuck me.
>>17588678
You do have comprehensive insurance, right?
>>17588692
You know he doesn't or else he wouldn't be venting on /o/.
>>17588698
>>17588698
No, I don't. It's a 2000 XJ so it's not worth much, maybe $5K on a good day. But I've had it a long time and I really like that car.
