I've been planning my next engine swap. Basically I want to swap a pushrod V8 and a manual transmission into an old Mercedes.
Considering that I'm Yuropoor and I'll have to stay under ~5.2 liters if I want to pass inspection with my new engine, my options seem to be either
1. Chevy 305
2. Ford 302
3. Rover V8 3.9 or 4.6
I'd also like to modify it for more performance, so I'd rather stay with a compact pushrod engine than with some fuckhuge 4-cam Jap V8 that gets really expensive to build.

Honestly?
Take a 350 and put a 283 crank in it to make a Chebby 302, then put a hot cam in there as well and rev it to the fucking moon.
Simply because Chevy stuff is cheaper, even in yurop.
>>17594043
normally I would say the chevy but 305s are kinda shit so do the 302 ford, but don't take it in the neighborhood of 500hp or the block will crack straight in half.
I'm not sure of the aftermarket there but I'd imagine you'll be jewed for parts on any of these anyway so it's a tossup.
Don't know shit about rovers, but between the 305 and the 302 I'd take the 302. Block is a tad weak by today's standards but if you're sane and stay below 500 crank it will survive. The main reason I don't like the 305 is that it's undersquare, instead of oversquare like the 302. This means you can't fit very big valves due to the bore being small, and it doesn't like revs as much because of the longer stroke.
Welcome to the new DBT.
Smoke a cigarette and let your hair down pussys. This ride doesn't end.
Favorite places to ride?
Took my Harley for a quick spin this morning.
Have to say, it felt amazing. Everyone I twist the throttle I get a rush similar to what the patriots felt when they ambushed redcoats.
Are ktm's allowed in this premium bread?
Just under 34K miles
Will purchase for $22K if the PPI is clean
Has the hideous black and gray leather seats, but other than that...
What do you think /o?

Enjoy your fancy VW with the engine way out in front of the front axle, no amount of meme """"AWD"""" is gonna counter that understeer
>>17593950
Why buy that over a WRX?
>>17593950
So fucking boring and bland. Also the value is just starting to plummet.
>Lincoln is just an overPriced "fancy" Ford
>Chrysler is just an overpriced "fancy" dodge
WHY IS THIS ALLOWED

lee iacocca was really, really good at his job, anon

It's allowed because basic human psychology makes us retarded enough to fall for stupid marketing memes.
>Buy used car, needs new shock absorbents and track rod ends

>Replace the following with brand new parts: Shock absorbers front and rear, springs front and rear, front suspension arms, track rods, track rods ends.
>Do wheel alignment once done

What did I break?
Pic related my car
I bet you forgot to preload before you tightened everything and ruined your bushings. Or your shock/spring combo isnt stiff enuff

I work on jack stands so I don't have that option.

I'm going to work in the US for 4 months. My boss is going to lend me a nice 2nd gen 1994 Lexus ES300. What are your thoughts about this whip ? I heard it has sluggish performance. Is that true ?

I want a truck, but looking for one on CL is a huge fucking mess, prices/mileages/conditions are everywhere and all over the place, and it's a LOT harder to narrow things down compared to looking at Miatas/other shitboxes.
Any advice on where to start? Price limit is set to $10k but I don't want to spend more than $7k. I know I would like ext. cab longbed if possible, but is there some secret to finding good trucks or is it just a nightmare?
>>17593480
All the good deals will go fast and the ones left will be bs. Be patient and you'll find something good, don't settle for mods, lifts, rust. Go for something kind of older like a 99 Silverado/Sierra.
>>17593540
Cool, thanks anon. I'm in Texas so there is a fucking huge abundance of trucks, and by extension a minimal chance of rust being an issue. There's just so damn many that it's hard to keep up with what's what, and even old trucks (90s and early 2000s) seem to command rather high asking prices.
I'll probably buy American since Japanese trucks go for absolutely retarded prices. Tundras with 250k miles have been known to fetch $10k or more... maybe they are THAT reliable but it's hard to trust.
>>17593621
I would go american. My dad's construction company has/had work trucks and they routinely last 250k miles. Some have had more problems than others.
I would go with the biggest engine you can get in the model you want. Ussually v6's in trucks are pigs unless they are some newfangle turbo variant.
How do you clean your windshield/glass panels?
I use windex and a microfiber, but it does not seem to get it clean, it just wipes off the dirt.

spit onto a rag and wipe that shit

I just put a bit of high grit sand paper on my wiper blades and use my wiper fluid. quick 10 second job gets everything off it nice and quick. ;)
Should I install a roll cage in my car for safety?
>>17593406
Unless you need to get through scrutineering at an actual event, no.
People with aftermarket roll cages are honestly totally pathetic. 90% of them wouldn't pass on an event or make any difference in an accident, they weigh the car down like crazy and ruin your back seats. Your cars internal roll cage is already more than sufficient for anything you'll be doing on the roads (yes that includes driving like a 16 year old and endangering the lives of others whilst not actually going that fast).
>>17593435
Not OP, but I drive a Ford Escort Mk1.
Naturally anything from this era is a deathtrap.
I don't even have a collapse able steering column, as any head on will displace my ribcage with my dish steering wheel.
I am trying to make it safer before I go to get the new engine certified by an engineer. (2.0L Zetec with a T9 Gearbox and twin 45DCOE).
I may have to replace my rear drum brakes with discs, and there are few options for discs that fit under 205/50/r13 s
I'm thinking of getting 15" wheels and getting some wilwoods. That might cost me around 3k, but the result would be worth it, but if I can avoid that immediate expense then I'll stick with the Drums.
Let's get back to roll cages, bump.
>>17593406
FUCKING DO IT
This is the ULTIMATE ALPHA Chad vehicle. Proof me wrong.
>>17592762
I agree, this can take a shit on a Jeep. And for the good part out last it too.
Like any other Jap brand, their cars can outlast any domestic, it's been proven.
I rather a navar because the bed is useful
>>17592762
>tfw people want like 3k around here for one
Tundra.
This truck has been undershadowed by the big 3 domestic pieces of shit know as the F-150, Silverado/Sierra, and Ram for FAR too long. This truck can outlast all three of them with no problem. Not once have I seen any POS domestic truck pass 1 million miles with it original GAS engine ever.
What I'm saying is, this truck is underrated and that sad. But atleast the Tacoma get the attention it deserves. Better than that POS Recallorado.

How much are you planning to spend on that piece of shit?
>>17592541
Being offered at 22k for the fully loaded model that includes the premium package. Can hopefully talk it down to 22k OTD or less
>>17592559
You could get yourself a 5.0 Mustang GT or a LS3 Camaro for that much. Over 420hp on both and rwd.
