The next couple days are going to be pretty exciting with the more powerful and aero tuned cars on the fastest stage in the season.
We're about halfway into the calendar and it's been the closest championship battle in almost a decade. Who do you think will win Finland?
>Kris Meeke went fastest at this stage last year and broke speed records
>Confidence in Toyata for a full cast of Finnish drivers and legend crew chief, Tommi Makinen
>Neuville leading the Hyundai team and deadset for a podium finish
>4 time WRC champion Sebastian Ogier is shrugging off his slower pace from switching to Ford when VW dropped out last year. He's been testing F1 cars so I believe he'll leave the WRC at the end of the season
>9 time WRC legend and Rallycross driver Sebastien Loeb to do some testing for Citroën, but denied that He'll be returning to the WRC
These are the current standings for SS1

You go to an /o/ meet and suck everyone dry
Jiffy Lube

Do you guys know if Jiffy Lube is open on Sundays?
Hi /o/, I'm having some trouble bleeding my clutch. For some context: this morning when heading to class I found my clutch would only return halfway. I only drove it for a minute or two. The night before it worked normally. After consulting the internet I bought a bottle of brake fluid and and hooked up pic related to the slave cylinder (excuse the dogshit phone pic). If it's hard to see, basically it's a plastic tube over the nipple running into a plastic bottle with some fluid in the bottom.
When I first began bleeding I didn't have that setup, I just had the nipple exposed. I definitely sucked in hella air. With the current setup I have been pumping the clutch 5 times, leaving it depressed, then opening the valve and letting fluid drain out. This worked great for awhile but it no longer pushes the fluid any further. You can kinda see in the picture near the water bottle where it stops. My car is on all four wheels, not jacked up, if that helps. How do I go about getting all the air out and moving the fluid?
Car is a 2001 (mk4) VR6 Jetta
I forgot to mention, the clutch currently has no pressure. It hasn't had any since I first unscrewed the valve. It snaps either up or to the floor because of the spring.

Get a buddy to open and close.
Otherwise a smaller (smaller diameter, shorter it both) tube s.t. One pump expels enough fluid to clear the line of air. Keep top full and keep going.
That said air doesn't suddenly appear in the line if something isn't proper fucked in the first place.
Is the clutch master cylinder dry?
It's not happening, is it?
It was good for this accursed world

They could call it something else and give it a turbo 4 cylinder or turbo V6. sure, its not the rotary you want but its better than no flagship sprots car right?
I pumped up the tires, which shockingly held air, called a specialty towing company, who assured me they would send a TOP MAN, and loving placed the Stingray into clean, if somewhat small garage, in preparation for cleaning it up and trying to start it. I am just about to head out and buy some 10w40 conventional oil, an oil filter, an air filter, zinc additive, five gallons of 93 octane gas, sparkplugs, a battery and some air fresheners. I don't think that I am forgetting anything obvious, I have a mediocre assortment of tools, a buddy and a positive attitude! We are planning on trying to start it this weekend and do some sick donuts, I mean gingerly drive it a few feet.
Steering works, frame has only surface rust and appears to be in good shape for having sat for three decades under a pile of garbage.
Nice. Keep me updated and maybe take a video when you try to start it.
Do you know what you're doing? Could do more harm than good...
Car dudes plz halp!
I drove my car to and from work today not realizing I left the radiator cap off. Omw home I noticed smoke and an odd noise, drove home, car completely died before I even parked it. The radiator was smoking and completely empty. I filled it to the brim w 50/50 and the car starts again but dies after 5 seconds. Do you think if I let it cool down for a couple hours itll be okay? 110° where I live.
>overheated his car to the point where it shut off
That's not good lol
>>17614116
The engine turns over but then dies after a few seconds
. Could it be the radiator? Head gasket? Or maybe hopefully just needs to cool down
>>17614141

did you even check the fitment and offset?
because I'm assuming it's the same bolt pattern
>>17614040
no i didn't but if they dont fit i think i can sell them for more than i got.
Are drilled/slotted rotors really that much better?
>>17613550
No, they're actually worse because there's less surface area. Only thing they do is ventilate the disks, which isn't necessary at all for street use. Unless you're tracking your car, not worth it
Drilled rotors can cause uneven wear since they make cool off faster in some parts than others. They are great for track use, but in the long slotted rotors are much better.

Doug is a decent YouTuber when you compare him to the majority of automotive channels
Doug score was a mistake and i stop watching when he starts driving (if i wanted to see some one giggle and laugh like a school girl for 20 minutes I'd watch JAV)
but he makes some very good videos and actually talks about interesting stuff
I'm torn between the Maserati Granturismo S and the Jaguar F Type R. Both can be had for under 70k used from 2014-2015.
Which would you get and why? Any alternatives you recommend?
Thanks
>>17613493
The 911 would be another good choice.
But frankly the styling is a bit conservative for my tastes. I'll get a chance to test drive them all fairly soon, but I wanted to see what you guys think.
Things that are important for me are
>reliability
>styling
>straight line performance
>comfortable interior
Other things would be pluses but not deal breakers
>>17613518
I'm generally sticking with 2014 or new because I'd like a couple years of warranty after purchase.
I'm not interested in muscle cars so Camaros, Mustangs, etc. aren't an option. I also am not a big fan of the corvettes styling or image.

Is it just me or is the Evora underappreciated?
Let's assume you decide to develop and gain mechanical experience and knowledge by buying an absolute wreck of a car, with the intention of bringing it back to life and get it running. Assume that you also have a blank check for ordering parts needed, and have the tools that you need to repair the car. Assume that you have access to the Internet, the car's owner's manual, a Haynes motor manual for that car and any other information you might need. Assume that you also have some very basic knowledge of how a car works, e.g. how the 4 stage piston system works, how pistons fire and turn the crankshaft, how power is directed from the engine to the rear axle through the differential etc.
Without any mechanical experience, how do you diagnose a problem with a car and know how to fix it? e.g. You get in the car, turn the key and the car just doesn't start - no noises, no obvious signs or anything like that. How do you know where to begin? You could either just google "dead car won't start", but that's too vague. You could also look through both the owner's manual or the Haynes manual for troubleshooting or try and work out the problem by working through the chain of processes that are involved in starting the car, e.g. is the battery flat? Are the wires broken or making poor contact? Is the fuse blown? Is the engine not working (and which part)?
tl;dr - How do you know what needs to be fixed in a car until it runs? How do you gain the skill to diagnose if you have no knowledge or no idea of what's wrong with the car?
You start with the first problem you encounter, and then check the easiest solution for that problem first before progressing to the more difficult solutions
No sound when turning the key? Check battery
Battery good? Check starter
Starter turns with direct battery contact? Check wires from ignition
Wires from ignition good? Check ignition itself
And so on
>>17613222
As for how to gain skill - you use books, the internet or someone who knows already
Either that or you just use a general understanding of how electric power works, how fuel and air needs to be mixed and ignited
well you have to do all of those things first to even find out whats broken. You just keep looking and eventually you find it. there arent really all that many parts in a car.
