I'm looking to buy a civic from a dealer for $3500 sticker price. I've never bought from a dealer, how much should I offer? and do they pay tax/fees?

(no i'm not gonna change my mind and buy from a private seller)

Nah, too little space. I don't consider 8x30 ft livable in the long run. Dreaming of a swimming house someday though. 16x40 ft oughta do it.

Hey /o/ I just had a 93 tune put on my GTI but my tank is full of 89. I've emptied it to about half, can I just add some octane booster from AutoZone or some shit to balance it out? The one I'm looking at is 108 octane and it treats 16 gallons, so I'll just use half the bottle
14 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
By my estimate it'll take about a gallon of 108 to comfortably push a half tank of 89 up to 93.

Yes, that's what octane booster is for. Just throw the whole bottle in, what are you going to use the rest for? I don't think you can use too much (it'll tell you on the bottle), it's not like too high octane will make your car run bad (as opposed to too low).

Basically the speed of the driver and car are inversely proportional.

This sounded like a sweet day at the ring video then I find out it's all hypothetical? Fuck you. Also it depends entirely on the track. If it's fully within everyone's skill, the best car. If it's beyond everyone's ability then the best driver.
>>
Probably the amateur race car driver.
>>
>>17882352
This honestly. The two weakest drivers couldn't even begin to handle their vehicles properly on a track, casual GT350 guy and amateur race car driver would be the two actually competing to win, formula driving experience doesn't mean shit for a miata or regular track driving and they're slow as fuck compared to everyone else even if the guy is great at driving it.

fuck off. honda civic too. a small bit of extra aerodynamism at the cost of major basic functionality.
>>
>>17882359
I understand that visibility is important, but there are a couplr things to consider for the other side:
Most people, especially in the demographic that would buy a Prius, are not capable of using their rear view mirror, because they have their head lodged in their ass.
In a short time, most cars will be communicating with each other enough that knowing what's behind you isn't vital. Besides that, it probably has some means to have the back-up camera turned on at all times or something similar.
Not that I like the Prius or anything.

So how hard is it to maintain a Wankle? Is it just replacing the seals every so many miles or do the engines inevitably just shit themselves after not that long? The engines seems extremely simple compared to piston engines.

Just keep the oil, cooling in check, go easy on a cold engine, premix, redline it once a day and such and they can easily last 100k miles.
Honestly they're not as unreliable as people meme. For a road going racecar engine they're good
>>
The seals will be a bitch, and they get pretty caked in carbon residue every now and again due to the design. Just swap the oil early, and run those engine cleaner fluids in it every now and again.

Unless youre redlining a 727 every coldstart you'll be fine.
>>
>start it everyday for 10 minutes
>keep the oil topped up
>premix your gas

The main thing is to check your injectors for buildup and start the car up and rev it to 3000 for a few minutes daily. These motors love to run as long it's daily. If you let it sit you're cooked.

Considering upgrading my car to something nicer and more powerful, currently looking into private lease on something like a SEAT Leon Cupra (£250-300/mo).

Anyone have experience with doing private lease? Anything to be aware of? I know I need gap insurance.

I don't like the idea of increasing my fuel costs but a smallish hatchback like the Leon shouldnt be too bad (41 UK MPG avg claimed), plus I'm young and don't spend much on anything else so fuck it right?

>>
>>17883327
Even under those circumstances the worst fucking thing you could do is private lease a car. Especially a car you're planning to hoon around in.

Under lease it's not yours. It's literally renting the car for a longer term.

Buy a cheap pre-2000's GTI and a set of tools if you want to go fast (ish) and learn a thing or two about cars, or save all that disposable income and actually buy a second hand newer car with some balls.

Never private lease, never buy new.
>>
>>17883327
What in the world is a private lease?

Generally, leasing is not a good idea unless you are very rich and always want to drive the latest model or if the car you want is going to depreciate like a stone in the ocean and you have no desire to hold onto a rapidly depreciating asset.
