Sup /o/
I'm not strictly new to bikes, but I'm new to something more complex than a CBF125.
Picked up this 2007 Fazer 600 from a properly franchised dealership a few weeks ago - full service and three month warranty on purchase. Today I noticed this - it seems to be coming from where the clutch cable meets with the engine casing.
Is this some kind of lubricant for the clutch cable? Should be alarmed by the fact it's dripping out like this? It's a very thick texture, and it was at ambient temperature even when I'd just got off the bike.
I haven't exactly been abusing the bike either (like redlining, bad gear changes
Posting from my phone, dunno why the image rotated like that
It lool like copper antiseize

this.
must be a replacement clutch cable and they lubricated it with an anti-seize compound. Usually cables are lubricated with some of that specific "cable lube" that's sticky and wont leak out under heat cycling.
WYSIWYG is a long dead concept in automobiles, but this thread is to celebrate the greatness that was, and is preserved by few.
Current production technology allows manufacturers to cover up / hide / obscure a lot of the true nature of the vehicles they are making, and this is a nightmare for people that actually like to wrench on them like myself. It also makes the thought of buying new cars revolting. Basically, current production tech allows any shit company, like Kia, to make vehicles that APPEAR to fit in with the rest or to appeal to your senses, yet they are a disappointment mechanically.
POST CARS WHERE WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET.
Lets see those engine bays with everything exposed, those under-bodies with cables hung along beams instead of threaded through and obscured, lets see under those dashes, lets see those standard and plentiful parts bin wiring connectors.
Gonna dump some of these, pic related.
Is a Miata all I or anyone needs who is in their 20s?
>don't have much friends except 2 or 3 friends
On of their cars gets broken down so I can give a lift.
>excellent fuel economy at 33mpgs max
>enough pace for one person in car
>small enough so city driving is awesome enough
>highway riding must be good
>RF version looks bonkers
>enough power
What are the disadvantages to owning a Miata?
>>17655406
Literally the only downside to owning any generation of miata is the incessant gay jokes made by flatbill equipped mustang drivers.
It's so fucking irritating that I'm considering selling my miat a and getting an aw11 instead.
I love the car so much but it's for real so irritating when your entire family makes fun of your car for hours at holiday get togethers

What the fuck is wrong with Cadillac
Why did they go full German in naming and brand identify?
Because becoming the American BMW was their gamble at bare survival. Geriatric barges Fleetwood Brougham Deville don't sell anymore.
>2 naming systems in operation at the same time.
Why is GM so stupid?
Why is the XTS a sedan and the XT5 an SUV?
When you are shit you need to copy who is winning
Who the fuck actually enjoys the styling features of these hot hatches? Look at the Golf GTI, Type R, WRX STI, RS, etc... it all looks ridiculous and childish. It pains me because the performance is there and on paper they are otherwise great cars but fuck man why can't you just wrap that up in a nice 3 series looking package instead?
I agree with the ctr and rs, but the others don't look too bad anon.

Is there any type of engine that works like a petrol/diesel one (powerbands, sound, etc. etc.) but runs on renewable energy? Electric/Hydrogen for example?
I was wondering about the future, everything looks like it will transition to electric because of increasing renewable energy production but I don't want to see the ICE car disappear (because petrol WILL run out)
>>17654503
There was some research going into biodiesel which is pretty interesting.
OR E85, which is made out of ethanol, mainly made from corn and other crops. Can be used on most newish cars AS LONG AS the manual says that the car can use it, or the car has been modified to use it. Not too sure how renewable e85 is but since it comes from plants I'm guessing it is pretty renewable
>>17654515
E85 is still about 15% gasoline so in a future (far) where there is absolutely no oil left unexploited I don't think it will exist..
Biodiesel on the other hand sounds interesting, is it purely non-diesel or does it have some regular fuel mixed in it? Sounds like it will be renewable
What about self driving cars though? In lets say 1000 years (cryonics is a wonderful tool for, well, not dying) will manual-controlled cars be still available?
>>17654534
>in 1k years will manual-controlled cars be available?
I'm using the example of horse drawn carriages. Currently they are no longer made in production. Maybe joe blow made one in his shed last year. It's a sight to see one, but they don't drive on the road.
What is it like owning and driving a Ford Maverick from the 70's?
I am European, quite mad in love with old muscle cars and currently considering going to the US and importing a Ford Maverick. Are they good vehicles for spirited driving?
>>17654457
You've mentioned this like 20 times. They're the bottom of the barrel muscle car, not that that's a bad thing. They're considered a compact muscle car, which is probably a good thing if you live in Yurope.
>>17654462
Yeah, I just have never driven an old Muscle car, and since I am not in the US, getting to see one IRL is a very difficult thing to do.
I cannot afford any of the well known Muscle cars like the Mach 1, RT, GTO, Charger...etc.
How bad is the Maverick? Compared to a budget cars from the 80's, like a RX7 or a Miata?
>>17654473
it won't handle as well probably won't be as comfortable but it looks cooler

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 150,000 miles on it. It has a 4.0 Liter Straight 6 Cylinder Engine. Would buying Premium Gas improve Performance or would I just be wasting money? Any help would be appreciated.
Buy the recommended fuel
Literally wasteing money and worse performance. "Premium" gas isnt better or worse than regular, its just different, and most shitbox tier cars run on 87. Unless your manual says otherwise, run 87, running different octane gas means different flash points, means your car won't run as intended. Its not gonna ruin anything immediately, but it'll hurt MPG and and other stuff down the line.
>>17654306
The Owners Manuel says to use 87 Octane. Should I just stick with that? I would like to use higher octane gas if it helps my cars performance.
Do you appreciate how dangerous it is to drive? How do you deal with it?

What does this even mean? They were obviously a crap driver if they crashed it.

Anon, you cannot deny that road deaths are quite high.
http://asirt.org/initiatives/informing-road-users/road-safety-facts/road-crash-statistics
>Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day.

Same shit will happen if you drive your shitbox in the wrong lane at full speed around a blind curve. That cyclist probably survived with all limbs intact, you'd have your steering column through your chest.

He did. Pretty fucked up arm, but made a full recovery.
He's still a pretentious asshole though, as you've probably guessed.
Hey /o/ something happened today that has seriously freaked me out.
I've made a few enemies recently and I think they've decided to make themselves known.
I walked out to get to work this morning and noticed one of my tires was flat. I went to take a look and discovered pic related (more pics incoming).
These have to be slash marks, right?? I really can't see what else they could be. I had my car inspected during my last oil change and they said my tires were fine. This tire has slash marks in it.
This is really freaking me out that they would make this personal like this.
>>17653449
I called in my AAA technician and he said they definitely appear to have been tampered with.
Get them back but don't slash their tires.
Make it something that could easily be an accident, like throw a rock through their sunroof while its raining.
>>17653453
I mean, these can't be anything other than slash marks, can they?
