I'm planning on doing my struts on my TL AWD but kind of tossed up on either monroe or KYB, I plan on putting eibach pros on it to compliment. So what strut gives the better ride? Also is there a difference in struts on the FWD and AWD? Everything I see covers the 3.5 engine
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>17676734
Both manufacturers make OEM specced struts with similar travel characteristics, meaning both are going to wear prematurely.

If you dont care about potentially wearing out your struts early, and having a stiff ride then Monroe would be my choice.

But coilovers are better in nearly every measurable way.
>>
>>17676749
Wasn't sure about the ride quality of coilovers, aren't they rougher than struts and springs?

Depends. Some manufacturers make basic coilovers with pretty good ride quality. If you invest in some with adjustable dampening you can make them ride however you want. They usually run $700+ though. I run Tein coilovers on my car and they ride fantastic.

So when I was 16, I got my learners permit. In that class, I had to learn on an automatic. It was pretty easy, didn't have much issue with that portion.

The only way my parents would agree to pay for the course at the time was that once I get my permit, I had to learn to drive full in a manual car. So I did learn, and it was difficult if you've never driven anything where you had to shift gears manually but I finally got the grasp of it. I learned on a dinky Saturn Ion. Pos but it was durable and didnt break. Fast forward to when I was 18, I finally got my drivers license in that same car. I failed 2 times before I got it (first time was because I parallel parked and hit the curb, second time was because I missed a stop sign that was partially hidden by a bush). The guy who passed me was impressed that I was taking the course with a manual, which I guess is because auto's are way more common and easy to drive. Well, I saved up about $1000 for my first car. I looked around for a while, couldn't find much but I didn't have much choice. Was starting college in a few months and needed something. I bought an auto 92 Chevy Lumina for my first car and haven't driven a manual transmission since. Fast forward about 7 years and I've only driven auto's since, but I picked up a car that has a 6 speed now. I... missed it. I actually missed the feeling of having THAT MUCH control over your car, the feeling of how you power you can push out of each gear, and how much fun is actually is to drive again.

People often complain that "hurr, I dont wanna shift in bumper to bumper traffic" which I can understand a bit, but to me it doesn't outweigh all the positives of a manual transmission. They're fun to drive, turn any daily economy car into something you can fully enjoy, and really brings out the life of a car. I dont think I'll ever go back to an automatic for anything more than a work truck. For any people who are on the fence about actually learning, or cant decide whether they like an auto or manual more, ask yourself; How can you fully enjoy your car if you can't get the most out of it that you really can? Both power wise and through spirit.

I'm new to cars. My first car is a 2005 Taurus hatch back. And Yes, it's fucking disgusting. I plan to get a 2010 SHO, but I don't want to give up my shitty hatchback. I want to do something full blown retarded with it. I want to turn it into a rally car. I want that ugly fucker to fly wide open through a desert. I don't care what I do to the car as long as I leave the body style mostly intake. And yes I am a new fag and I'm fully aware that this is retarded as fuck. Anyway, I need ideas. GO!

Gut the interior put a roll cage, a racing harness and a steering wheel and you are ready, if you intend on doing some crazy shit, you might need to reinforce the suspension and change the tires.

>>17676058
What's the biggest Motor you can put in it? The hood ac and anything else that is not essential to the primary function of the vehicle other than the headlights is expendable here.
>>
>>17676081
You can probably throw a V8 in it, but it's totally not worth it. A turbo would be a better solution. Although transversely mounted engines, especially V6s are a fucking nightmare to work on.

Alright /o/ redpill me on minitrucks. I'm leaning right now toward a mid 90s hardbody, but I know super little about cars in general, so here's what I'm looking for

-mid size at most
-4 wheel drive
-V6 engine (I think? I want something that I can haul shit around/tow a car if need be)
-easy(ish) to work on, haven't done a whole lot of work
-extended cab is optional
-80s or 90s aesthetic is love
-around 3500-4500 budget

I've no real preference between domestic or imported trucks, nor do I plan on this being my last truck, but I'd still like to have it around 5-10 years assuming I do my part. What're the pros/cons of your favorite trucks? Or are there specific trucks that are complete pains in the asses to work on that should be avoided?

(yes, I have seen the sticky, trying to explore my options)

the D21 isn't a bad little truck, provided you get one with the Z24 engine in it.

the mitsubishi mighty max and isuzu p'up are good too. toyota's are great too but you are paying that meme tax. D21 is best bang for your buck imo.
>>
>>17675939

Memes, stop buying weed and video games and expand your budget some more and get like a 10 year old fullsize pickup with a v8. You will be a lot less of a bitch than some fag in a rusted out 93 hardbody

A vinyl shop did a shitty job on my car and refuse to repair the giant scratches they put into my paint or refund me my money.

My credit card company is taking their side, stating the damages were "accidental" and that a paper I signed states that they take no responsibilities for any damages done.

Damage estimate is ~$1200, partial vinyl job was $1000.

I had to redefine my concept of rage to whatever I am feeling at this moment.

You signed the contract, fgt. Did you think that form they asked you to sign was pointless?

Post photos so we can pick sides too.

Do they have good reviews? Usually places with a ton of good referrals will make any poor customer experience better for the sake of their name.

One would think accidental damages includes minor nicks, not pic related.

These scratches run the length of the passenger's door, the driver's door, and both sides of the trunk.

So after a week of driving on hazardous roads and 4x4 trails in CO, some dickbag decided to ram my truck from behind on the highway. He was going around 50mph when he hit me at almost a dead stop. Crawled underneath to see how bad the frame was bent and it's definitely bent up on the rear passenger side. I've never been in an accident like this before. I've heard so many horror stories about vehicles never driving right after the frame is bent. Will the insurance company total it even if it's a 2016 with 20k miles? Cash value lists around 30k. Cargo box also dented the cab on the passenger side if that helps.

I have a 2016 Genesis Coupe, and as much fun as it is, I don't drive it as much as my bikes. and recently my brother totalled out my GMC Sonoma that i had been using to transport them. I'm getting nothing from him or insurance, and out of keeping peace in the family I'm choosing to not go after him. That being said, I no longer have a vehicle to pull trailers with or throw motorcycles in the back of. With how much I honestly drive my Genesis, I've been thinking about trading it in anyways, but now I'm looking for something else. I'm not looking for brand new, but i was wondering what other people have for this purpose. I'm kinda leaning away from a pickup, and more towards like a Subaru Crosstrek. To me it seems like a fuel efficient daily, and it can tow as much as I'd really care to. I know they're kinda gutless, but is that going to be heavily magnified by pulling 1000 pounds? Enough to be concerned about that is? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Pic of truck

Unloaded, Subaru's aren't knowing for good gas mileage. It's really going to go to shit towing a 1000lbs. A base model 4 cylinder rwd Colorado probably gets similar mpg's.
