Hey guys. So I have a 1999 Buick lesabre that has a corroded air bag module. I can't find any oem parts because apparently they are obsolete and no longer made. Would a ABM from an older version work or should I try to find one in a junk yard? Or maybe get a new car altogether?

>>
>>17670043
Just pull the Air bag and pull the air bag warning light from the dash and go about your business.
>>
>>17670043
My experience with that generation LeSabre is that the mechanicals are solid and will go many miles, but all the interior stuff goes to shit and they are miserable to drive.

Get something else or don't bother worrying about the ABM.

Has /o/ ever been to a car auction?
Is it worthwhile in any way?
What are the realistic chances of finding something good in the heaps of moderately new previously leased worthless base model shitboxes?

This is the inside of my Toyota pickup clutch. What causes this and how do I fix it? I wouldent have noticed if I hadn't pulled back the carpet, the clutch feels fine.

That's not your clutch dumbass.

That's your master cylinder, its leaking like a bitch on her period, get it replaced.
>>

this. its actually a pretty easy fix.

Bad piston seal
Clutch master needs replaced.
It's a 15 dollar part, and a quick bleed of the system away... Quick job.
Your hard line flare fitting is most likely gonna be seized up, be careful because it's easy as fuck to round off the little 10mm nut. Use vicegrips and PB blaster to break it loose.

What's your opinion on sports cars that can't get the tail out? Does that ruin the fun?

from Jeremy Clarkson's Chiron review (yeah, you can argue the Chiron is a grand tourer not a sportscar)
>it doesn’t really behave like a mid-engined supercar. It doesn’t flow. There’s no delicacy. It just launches itself out of a corner, and then immediately you’re braking for the next one. Progress is staccato, not legato. Mainly because in a car this powerful there’s no such thing as a straight. It eats them before you have a chance to notice. Which means there’s no place to sort out your mind. There’s no peace. It’s all action.

>>
>>17669948
I guess that makes it a complete exaggeration of what a sports car should be and also the ugliest supercar ever made
>>
>>17669948
Mid engine cars don't step the tail out. He's just referring to it being so powerful that it's point and shoot instead of flowing like an MR2 might.

hey /o/, I'm looking to get a toyota pickup of some sort and was hoping for some advice. which generation of these trucks is "best"? how much of a difference is there between generations? should I look at ones with straight axles or IFS? How are these trucks when it comes to rust? Any advice about the engines, besides "avoid the v6"? pic related is my favorite body style of all the generations
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>17669735
The last gen that uses solid axle, they didn't really change much until they went to IFS.
straight axle is obviously better but IFS cucks will chime in shortly saying IFS is just as good or better.
They are bad when it comes to rust, it's basically a meme.
I don't have to worry since I live in the southwest, nothing rusts here, not even toyotas.
Avoid the 3.0 entirely, horrible engine that makes no power and will 100% blow the head gasket, while getting awful fuel mileage.
>>
>>17669741
Thanks, so I'd probably need to be looking in the 84-85 range, right? also, is an automatic even worth considering or should I stick with the 5 speed? the autos are rare but I have seen a few
>>
>>17669735
i own an 88 and a 92 toyota pickup

the 92 is my project, it has a blown engine and the paint is shit

the 88 has a rebuilt engine and is lifted. pretty good condition. i use it as DD. the trucks are built to last. rust IS a big enemy and usually the trucks arent worth putting new engines in. you have to want them to be a project. parts are really cheap and it is easy to work on them
overall they are worth it if you are going to be doing the work yourself. if you need to go to a mechanic they probably arent a great choice

I'm now twenty-one years old and want to buy an other car.

8 000 to 10 000 €
but can go to 11 000 € if necessary.

Asian Sport Coupe

>Toyota Celica TS
>Mazda RX8
>Honda S2000

or manly Man Sedan

>Chrysler 300C 3.0 V6 Diesel or 5.7 V8 Hemi with Multi-Displacement System
>BMW 530xd or 530xi e60
>Mercedes CLS 320 Diesel or 350 CGI Benzin w219

but also open for suggestion.

I am from northern Bavaria and able to drive stick. An uncle of me owns a car workshop. I have my own flat in my parents house and i dont give a damn about MPG.

I just want a cool, reliable car.

OP get the Honda S2000

RX8 is a shit engine and the Celica ist just a Corolla Coupe.

7th gen? don't even bother
Terrible car
>>Mazda RX8
Money will go towards servicing the engine
>>Chrysler 300C 3.0 V6 Diesel or 5.7 V8 Hemi with Multi-Displacement System
Parts will be expensive, but sovwill be both other options here
>>BMW 530xd or 530xi e60
This is admittedly personal preference
But this is the worst looking car BMW ever made

don't know how long you intend to keep the car, but with our government hinting towards sooner or later phasing out diesel I would not sink this much money into a diesel car.
If you still want a diesel car I'd go for the E-Class.
Very cheap, so you could get one with low km and parts are cheap due to them being taxis.

Have you considered s6/s7 of the same era?

I have a truck I'm not going to be driving for a while. It is drivable though. It's titled and insured under my name and the insurance will be cancelled. Is there anything about the tags I need to worry about?

>>
>>17669424
Depends on your state. In NY you have to surrender your license plate or they fine you.
>>
>>17670605
Same for SC, you have to turn your tags in before cancelling the insurance.
>>
>>17669424
As long as it's on private property you don't need to do anything. Obviously if you're going to park it on a street you'll need to keep it registered and insured.

An FC or even an FD if you really wanted would be a really fun project, however you need to know what you're getting into with the rotary engine, with knowledge of the ins and outs of it it could be one of the most interesting projects you undergo, make sure you do research though, but I'm assuming you know what you're doing.

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laeredo. It has a 4.0 Liter I-6 Engine. The problem I'm having is whenever I'm idle, the car rapidly begins to overheat. This happens at long stop lights and heavy freeway traffic. Once I get moving fast again, the engines temperature goes back to normal. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm looking to get this fix asap as I'm not trying to have the engine damaged. Any help/tips will be greatly appreciated.

thermostat
>>
>>17669017
what about it? is the thermostat itself broken?
>>
>>17669022
Most likely your thermostat needs to be replaced. If the temps only go down at highway speeds, it's because the air is cooling the engine. When you're stopped, the fans don't switch on because the thermostat is saying "nah we're good"

Few reasons off the top of my head for modern production cars.
In GM cars, skipshift solenoid control
Reverse light switch now integrates with infotainment to automatically activate backup camera.
I would say VSS, but canbus means most cars get that from the ABS sensors now.
>>
>>17668958
To cuck you out of shifting to second on certain cars with skipshift
>>
>>17668958
Once you get engineers on a path towards putting computers in everything, they will take it to its logical conclusion.
