I found a craigslist add for a '84 Renault Encore with 92,000 miles for $1700. After speaking with the owner All it needs is a new headliner and the gas tank should probably be cleaned out.
He said he got it from an estate sale of a man who worked at the factory and collected cars. It was stored for a long time but he has driven it and says it runs.
I don't care about power. I am just in the market for a new car and would like something unique, but not so unique it is hard to find parts for.
I would be using this as a back and forth to work car but in a few months would be taking it on an 800 mile trip. Am I crazy to be even considering this?
go for it, you will be fine.

What car is this and whats the tallest you can be while fitting in one. I'm 6'0 which isn't tall at all but would I be able to fit?
Usually cars of this height would comfortably sit someone up to 6,3 and 6,5 might be a bit of a squeeze

Hey guys. Just past my test (UK) and was wondering what car I should get. All the cars I like tend to be at least 1.6 litre and I couldn't afford that right now.
tl;dr
Any suggestions for cars with a low insurance group?
Pic unrelated

the Bedford Rascal is a great first car
>>17690381
twingo ,106
some polo have a 1.4 i think but since it's VW it will probably be overpriced
You can fuck insurance companies slightly by buying a car over 25 years old
You can tape the road tax system if you get a car over 40 years old
I will probably get a 25 year old car one I passed my test (1 week away)
Has a car ever changed your opinion about an automaker?
yes
Yes but they stopped making/developing it (imagine it with the LT1 instead of the LS3)

Where the fuck were you when they sent the letter out you piece of shit?! Theres 200k miles on your car, what's the point of doing the recall now?!
I've never understood recalls, can someone explain them to me please, more specifically if I get a used car with some miles on it (out of warranty) and there was a recall on it years ago can I still take it in to be addressed/fixed and is it free? Do I have to pay for recall repairs if it's a 20 year old car or is the dealership obligated to fix it anyway? If for example my airbags were recalled but I never took it in, can I still do that if I was in a crash and they didn't deploy? (I was in a crash and they didn't deploy and later when I hooked an obd2 scanner to it the computer said they should have deployed in the crash but didnt)
>>17690136
Recalls generally aren't a warranty item. If a recall is put out you can get it repaired for free generally from any car dealer for that car. There may be a window when they will repair recall items though, so don't wait too long.
My '02 bimmer had that airbag recall and they got it done for free a year or two ago.

>I don't think you should be working on your own car
>You're not a mechanic
>What if something goes wrong
Why do normies say these things?
Because most normies are part of the helpless generation, where they can't do anything for themselves.
yes pay Juanito to work on your car

But I am a mechanic tho
>Post bikes
>Post gear
>Ask motorcycle related questions
>Tell motorcycle related stories
>Why'd you start riding?
>What bike do you want to get?
I need t preface my story by saying that I have no mechanical experience and I am extremely incompetent working with this kind of stuff.
I bought a 2007 Honda Rebel almost a year ago and its been giving me tons of problems. The clutch ended up going out and asshole mechanics tried to charge me 400 dollarydoos to fix it. I attempted to fix it myself, breaking two clutch assemblies. I decided today that the bike isnt worth the the time or effort to fix by myself. I installed the latest clutch assembly, but I mustve reassembled it incorrectly because the clutch had no tension. Either way, I was planning on selling the bike after it was fixed to get a brand new one.
I want to upgrade to something more powerful, at least a 500. I like the classic style of the rebel or bikes like that, but I also like sports bikes and I'm not really sure which kind I want to buy
here are my options:
> New Honda Rebel 500
new take on classic style, but after dealing with the bullshit that was the internals of my motorcycle, I dont really want another rebel
>Kawasaki Ninja 650
>Honda CBR 650R (or maybe the CBR 500R)
looks like they only have one color scheme for them though now which sucks
>Yamaha YZF-R6
my buddy has one and swears by it, but I dont want to break the bank
>some kind of cruiser or cafe cruiser but I dont know any in particular
Things that are important for my purchase:
>dont want to break the bank
>motorcycle/manufacturer must be reliable and well made
>has to look good obviously, color options are important
I dont know much about motorcycles, but I love riding, please help
>>17689496
also I'd like the motorcycle to be relatively small and easy to maneuver because i'm small
>>17689496
Go out and ride a bunch of bikes, figure out what you want.
Your choices seem to be at odds with eachother so getting some real world experience would be best.
Anything Japanese that's been maintained should be pretty reliable.
SV650
i got $500 so far couple more and im goin to buy my first car any recommendations
More money.
ls swap
Save $2500 more and buy a civic
So my friend has a 2012 Dodge Avenger and his battery died for whatever reason so we had to get it out and god damn what a pain in the ass that was.
He got frustrated half way through with the wheel liner/ splash guard and just ripped out the plastic rivets.
He needs a new liner and rivets but for some reason nothing matches what his liner looks like which is making him doubt what he's buying.
I'm just curious where you'd get the plastic rivets to fit it since the ones I had didn't fit.
Thanks in advance.
duct tape it back in, its just a chrysler
any large hardware store should carry them

He went a few days ago and came back with nothing, I dunno if I need to be there with them but yeah. Thanks.
I hate street machine.
It's a bogan trash magazine written by bogan trash with bogan trash taste in cars.
For example this is something they actually wrote.
>E-Type Jaguar
>more often than not they’re faithfully restored to concours condition and original specifications, and driven as sedately as they are rarely. Not really our bag, but each to their own
Just because you don't see e type jags with tacky flame paint jobs doing burnouts at summernats for crowds of drunk bogans in thongs and singlets doesn't mean they are all driven sedately you dumb bogans.
A lot of old cars are show queens when restored. I think it's more a complaint at the whole thing than e types. However, it's a bit of a silly complaint for rarer cars that are hard to repair, it's more valid as a complaint when it's talking about old falcons etc.
>>17688903
Nah if you don't drive your car you are just a bitch
no excuses
>spend 1000 hours restoring car by hand
Damn straight I'm going to drive it sedately.
Is a $400 Ford Fairmont a good investment as a drift car to beat up?
>>17688693
yes. Underneath, it's a fox body mustang
>>17688693
For 400 bucks yea its on the fox body platform so it would do pretty well but you'll most likely need an engine and tranny swap
>>17688704
>>17688707
Good to know, I should have done more research myself. It's in pretty good condition too, the exterior is the worst part about it.
Even American cars like Mustang and Camaro can turn now, what is their excuse?
meme-wheel drive and putting the engine 40 feet forward of the front axle as a result.
Audi finally gave up trying to German their way around the problem with the new RS3. They just put fatter tires on the front of it (265 front, 235 rear).
>>17688663
Wouldn't that cause even more oversteer?
