I have an uncle in Genoa, Italy who can ship me any car I want under 3,000 EUR.
Has to be from 2000 onwards, what should I look for?
First thought was BMW since italian cuckboxes are unreliable pieces of shit.
I'll start with this 2007 BMW X5 for 2,000 EUR which looks too good to be true:

Meant to say German in general, not just BMW.
>>17781891
that is awfully cheap for an x5, avoid
i dont think you can have anything nice besides an e39 for that price bracket
>>17781946
Should I add a 2006 Alfa to the exception? I really like that interior.

ITT: Import stories
Has importing cars ever been problematic for you?
Tell us stories of how you got your overseas vehicles.
Pic related is what I want to import some day.
I honestly have no idea how to go on about it, a lot of people here locally are saying to drop imports, unless the car is crashed cause the gubmint wants you to pay 2 grand in just import taxes.
My friend's dad has brought six cars from Japan to Europe
>a fucking W210 E-Class
>Toyota Granvia which he repurposed as his van for work stuff, he's a construction worker
>an auto 7M-GTE Mk 3 Supra
>850i BMW
>two Lexus LS400s
And the shipping for a two car container was almost €10k so I don't know what the fuck he was doing
>>17781841
I paid 1000 for a RO/RO from japan to canada
>>17781869
That's a much shorter and a simpler trip but getting the shipment from Japan, around Africa and through Europe to Scandinavia is not cheap.
Why do they crush cars? Surely parts can be taken off of them (though storage/demand is an issue). It just seems kind of wasteful. Do they do any sort of recycling on them that makes that format more appealing?
>>17781620
They can make more money selling it as scrap metal to Guangzhongchongdong Corporation than they can off a couple of autists looking for two tiny pieces.
>>17781620
>though storage/demand is an issue
You cracked the case! Good work Shirley Temple!
>>17781620
They strip all saleable parts, and then crush the car for easier transportation.
Then the car is taken in a container to a processor, where it is shredded and melted down to turn into fresh steel.
A car worth money will be stripped right down to the frame. If your insurance company writes off your shitbox when you try to claim on a minor accident, the whole worthless thing will be squashed into a cube and sent off, after they drain the fluids and rip the tires and battery off.
Why not just get a 911?
>>17781584
Isn't the tt awd?
snow
>>17781595
The 911 can be awd too?
Probably more trunk space than the 911
What's the best option /o?

the 2002 ranger. the duratec 2.3 is way better than the lima 2.5
Honestly it's hard to go wrong with a Mazda/Ford. Can't comment on the Taco or GMC. Do you see yourself in a lot of muddy areas? If not, 4x4 is lower priority. 2wd minitrucks have insane amounts of steering lock, super nice to maneuver in tight spaces, but in low traction situations the lack of a rear limited slip and lack of weight on the back is gonna bite you in the ass.

OP Here
I'll mostly be on highways and maybe the occasional dirt road. Just need something that gets good mileage and can move stuff around every now and then.
buy giant suv -> spew more C02 into atmosphere -> increase global warming -> increase probability of extreme weather events

Are you fags still telling yourselves the hurricane was caused by global warming even though the south has been getting hit with extreme weather for decades? I'm voting trump in 2020.

I now own a 1986 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 2.9 V6 with a 5 speed tranny. It looks stock besides a Dana 44 rear end. The body and frame were solid. Hardly any rust. The transmission shifts good and the clutch is okay. It had a bad engine (ticking and no oil pressure) so I'm swapping it out with a hardly used 2.9 V6 from a truck with no title that was hardly run.
Is it worth putting a 302 in it? I find lots of threads on forums about putting 302s in old 1st gen rangers but it seems they are all prior to 2010 and can't find any 302 conversion kits anymore. The truck is solid and I want to keep it as a project truck, but when something happens to this engine, I plan on swapping to something bigger.
What are my options? I'm not looking to have a super built V8 in it for drag racing or anything. Just a stock V8 with maybe new heads and headers. I but the truck for winter and weekend driving to national forest trails, camping, fishing, towing a john boat, etc.
Sounds like you'll have to pay someone some money to cut it up the right way to fit the 302. I would just look into a Jeep Comanche with the 4 liter and call it good.
>>17781215
Ive read that putting in a 2-3" body will resolve any fabrication issues with the firewall to fit the 302.
A 4.0 V6 swap from a newer ranger would be the easiest thing to do. Easy bolt in. I would just need a donor vehicle to get the wire harness and ECU to swap over.
But still would feel regret not swapping in a 302 V8 when it seems so widely available. I think my main questions/issues would be finding headers that fit on a 4x4 ranger. All the conversion kits I can find are only made for 2WD rangers.
>>17781267
If there's no kits then it probably means there's not enough room.

I may have just accidentally drained all the transmission fluid in my truck. How fucked am I?
Happened to me the first time i attempted to change my oil, noticed it was too red.
Let it all drain out and refill, Montero hasnt had any trans problems in 9 years.
So not very.
>>17781009
Well at least I'm not alone
Why would you be fucked? You need to change your trans fluid anyway just put new fluid in
I'm about to buy this Lancer MR as a first car, I'm not fussed, I like the sporty look and it's manual. Has anyone owned one of these before, any things I should look out for?
Lancers are total fucking garbage, I hated every minute that I had to drive mine
Buy an Accord or something instead
>>17780980
>sporty look
there's nothing sporty about that car. just get a civic for 3k.
That car makes me cringe so hard for some reason
Especially when I see a fully grown man driving one
Engine Bay thread, post em.
The engine bay is the reason it has been broke now for a month. Needs intake mani gasket and a starter. I hoped to sell it before anything else went bad on it cause it is fucking horrible working on. Im waiting for motivation to hit me.
>>17780985
I owned one, sold it for similar reason. Super fun cars and reliable but when they do break its awful.
I had to do headgaskets on mine. DId it in a weekend but it was a fucking nightmare and convinced me to sell it.

How fucked are all those cars in Texas?
Houston to be more precise.

I would avoid buying a used car in Houston for a while.

I would avoid buying a used car anywhere in the country if it was in texas right now
