my grandmother is sick and i may not see her again unless i take a 4000 km trip in the next couple weeks
cost wise, it's most economical for me to take my diesel van over anything else
the only issue is my van doesn't have glowplugs and doesn't start at temperatures lower than 6c, the temperatures here are quite mild but i will be going further north
if the temperature goes lower than that overnight my plan was to just idle the engine all night. i've heard diesels are fine to idle.. is there any truth to this?

>the only issue is my van doesn't have glowplugs and doesn't start at temperatures lower than 6c,
put glowsplugs in your engine already, they're not that expensive.
>>16911329
they're $1000 for a set and i don't have time to wait for them to be delivered
>>16911252
taje a halogen lamp with you and put it under the engine 5 minutes before you want to go, 300W should be enough, but to be sure take 400w, shouldnt cosstt that much
ive dun fucked up.

Fuckup general?
I'll never understand how so many of you retards on /o/ manage to flip and total your cars. I've been through the mountains of California, Nevada, New Hampshire, Georgia, and even mother fucking Switzerland on every roadster and motorcycle known to man and I've never come close to a wipe out as massive as that

Looking to buy a Suzuki Samurai, any tips?
>What are some main problems with them I should look out for?
>What should I expect to pay for certain models?
>Are there any Samurai years that are preferred?
>Anything else worth mentioning?
I will be posting the Suzukis I'm thinking about getting.

As with most 80s Jap cars, look out for rust. Don't listen to autists claiming they flip over easy. If you're in the states, Geo Trackers may be more easy to find for you.
I was in a car accident.
It was their fault (turned left when they should not have, I had a green light)
What should I do or not do?
I know the insurance company is out to spend as little money as possible.
We both have geico, i dont know if that's good or bad.
Thinking about it now they will probably try to cheap out on both of us.
Whereas if we had different insurance companies they'd fight tooth and nail to make the other one pay.
>>16910961
If you don't want accident history find a good reputable body shop and have dumbass pay out of pocket
>>16910962
the cars easily totaled
i'm more concerned about if the other person lies and says i went through a red
there were a number of witnesses on scene and cops were there quickly, but having never been in an accident before i didn't confirm stuff with the witnesses.
>>16910961
GEICO is nasty with other insurance companies.
As far as fault, they'll settle however they legally have to.
Were you or the other driver cited for the accident? If the other driver was cited, then they will likely consider them majority at fault. They won't sweat the percentages, just who was majority at fault. They'll pay you both either way since they have to, but they'll want to jack up the responsible driver's premiums so they GTFO GEICO or at least give GEICO more money.

Does it matter? Who buys an automatic camaro for """"performance""""
>>16910817
Wait, the lap time on a 2.5 mile course was within 1/3rd of a second and you're making a thread why? That's good for an automatic. More than acceptable for non-racing normal drivers on the road.
Cringe thread?

What gen type R is the most reliable of them all?
Performance wise, all are fast enough for my needs, but which gen has had the most problems and negatives?
Currently looking at the FN2 3rd gen (pic related) How are these in comparison to the first two?
>>16910448
Not an expert, but this one is ugly, ep3 is prolly cheaper and can be modded with the remainder of cash.
>looks like an egg
>>16910448
FD2, it is the generation when honda mastered the k series and the quality control issues of post 2000 hondas have faded away by the time it was produced. It is also new enough to not suffer fron reliability issues due to age, like most b series hondas.
>>16910448
>>16910460
Also as far as FD2 vs FN2, the FD2 has a stiffer chassis and is much more practical than the FN2 without being that much larger.
i need radio that looks oem and has aux jack

What does /o/ think of 2017 Mazdas? In my opinion they're priced well and are a great alternative to Honda but I'm an unqualified normie so what do I know.
>>16910324
I have an nc miata/mx5 and I think they have only got better with the new rf
I test drove the new Mazda6. The interior was really nice but it felt really big and kind of handled like a boat. I don't think it's going to make a very good car for offroading so I ultimately went with the MX 5.

Last time lamborghini tried to make an SUV they had to give it a SEVENTY gallon tank because it got less than 7 miles to the gallon.
What are we expecting out of this one? And who is this giant hot wheels car even targeted at
>>16910268
>implying filling up a 70 gallon tank three times a week is a problem for the targeted customer group.
>implying their bank accounts arent growing faster from interests than the pump and spew out gas
>>16910268
>And who is this giant hot wheels car even targeted at
People who already own a Lamborghini and want an every day practical Lamborghini
>And who is this giant hot wheels car even targeted at
The same people that buy Cayennes. Did you notice the trend of buying SUVs? Where there's demand, there's supply. Auto makers have to adapt.
Why does anyone own VW? even normies talk about how bad VW is.
Was this company ever good? New vw is shit and covered in mistrust. Old vw is an unreliable heap
How the fuck does a company that people have mistrusted for over 20 years stay in business
>>16910050
Good question. Not to mention they're unreliable and hard to fix thanks to German "Engineering".
I've got one, it's a reliable, comfy car with features better than other base model hatches including a full mfi display. Good seats, decent handling etc
Idk I really like VW, the interior is designed well imo and depending on the model and age they can be reliable*if* maintained well.
I don't have the black hub caps anymore lol, need a better pic. The transmission sucks tho, I learned to drive stick on it, got it with 50k mi, I hear the 6spds in GTIs are better
Honestly I want a TDI deisel
>>16910081
Also the 2.5 i5 looks okay on paper with decent torque, but the dynamics of how it drives seem pretty shit compared to VWs turbo engines 2.0 in the GTI or even the 1.8 or 1.4s in jettas
