in the street/parking garage

Please redpill me on this platform /o/. I am heavily considering picking up a Yukon/Tahoe as a daily driver and adventure vehicle (mostly fire trails and snow driving). Craigslist seems to be full of decent ones at cheap prices.

I've done some homework and read about transmission issues but otherwise haven't been able to find a whole lot. Any kind anons want to give me a run down?

Also any GMT800 owners please post your rides, I want some fap fuel.

great trucks
shoot for a 03+, and something with a 4l80 (60s like to go at 150k)
expect a cheap plastic interior that likes to peel/fall apart. expect rattles and a bumpy ride on the trucks.
depending on where you live you shouldn't be spending more than 6kish for a nicer one with around 120k
also pic is my shitbox

To me i would buy an early 1999-2002 GMT800 because they are alot cheaper than later models. If your buying an early model 1999-2002 check the coolant if it's the orange dexcool. Water pumps are more common to fail on early 5.3's. If the truck is 4wd have a mechanic check the transfer case, they develop a hairline crack around the pump housing and if it runs out of fluid it eats itself alive. Front wheel hubs, EGR valves and fuel pumps go out at around 150,000 miles. Never get aftermarket fuel pumps because they never last as long as the original and they are alot louder than oem. Oil pressure sending units causes the oil pressure gauge to bounce and act funny. I've seen less early model GMT800's with gauge cluster problems than later models. If the parking brake light and ABS light both stay on, it needs a new ABS control module. 4l60e's are also a big issue, if it shifts rough or makes noises stay away. Wind noise is also a problem on older trucks, it could be the weather stripping or the door hinge pins and latches wearing out.

Other than that, they are amazing trucks if you take care of them just make sure you do regular maintenance and use OEM parts as much as possible.

I don't understand.

I used to drive a RAV4 and I was always 10-30 over the limit. Its dissatisfying engine only made me want to floor it more.

its one of the most popular vehicles for all demographics, you're going to get a lot of shitbirds driving them simply because of this

here in Canada we get way more cucks driving F150s and Silverados, they're usually the worst offenders for doing 10 under the limit

Hey /o/. Just got my first car. It's a 1991 Nissan D21 hardbody. Thoughts? I was also thinking about a tow hitch upgrade to tow a trailer and maybe an engine swap to an LS motor of some sort. Feel free to post about your first cars and the mods that you did to them.

I had one of those OP. The stock KA24E is actually quite a good engine, revs high and is very reliable. Best mod would be new tires.
>>
just fix worn out stuff that needs replaced and just enjoy it for a while. if you need to tow then definitely get a good hitch on there.

I have an L98 with the famed LS sewing machine sound at 2000-3000rpm
However mine is LOUD
Loud enough a friend of mine noticed it as I drove past him on the sidewalk
Is it a major concern? Honestly the sound sucks but I can deal with it, but if its at risk of damaging anything else however then I cant

Im running 15w-40 non synthetic oil so im already pretty thick and the levels are correct

I still love the LS because its price for performance though but this noise is driving me insane

>>
>>17820047
From what I've heard it can be caused by bad gaskets, loose plugs or holes in the exhaust. I would check those before you start to dig into the motor

I want to do this but I have no idea how to remove my headliner. If anyone shares the desire for a starlight headliner, pls discuss & halp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beuMxy5Nh8I

This guy did it, I have a similar car (2014 435xi) but he's too much of a cunt to make a detailed video of removing and reinstalling the headliner and I can't find anything online about it.

>>17822695
Personally not a fan of this stuff but to remove the headliner you literally just have to remove all the supporting pillars and then take out like 4 screws and it just pops off. Its a lot of work. A lot of clips will break.
I know this because I did a full headliner replacement on my 17yo 323i when the material was sagging.
I can only imagine that you would also need to pull off the headliner cloth and reapply afterwards, which is an actual nightmare. Other than that its just drilling holes in the foam board and sticking those strands of led bulbs through the holes and hooking them up to your courtesy lights or something.

If you plan on doing this for some reason, please for the love of god dont have them stay on when you're driving. It seems cool at first but you will not only look like a stoner but you'll get pulled over as soon as it gets dark.

Sources: personal experiences and mistakes that costed a lot of money to correct
>>
>>17823076
>E36 fag with the same problem
Did you consider sanding the headliner panel down and just painting it with something?

>>17822695
The biggest challenge I see is getting the 'stars' distributed into a pattern that doesn't end up looking like shit. Human beings tend to be really bad at producing random patterns.
>>
It's a real bitch to replace or remove headliners. Get a professional to do it if you have to.
