This is probably the millionth thread on this board about this, but I don't know where else to go.

So, I can't take it anymore. I need to go fast. I want to start car racing. I know nothing about cars. I don't know anything about racing. I've been thinking about this for days on end, so it's past the point of just being a whim, I need to seriously look into this shit.

Where do I start? How much do I need to know about cars to start? Is my current car, a 2007 Mazda3, gonna do it for just starting out? How the fuck does car maintenance work when you're regularly going fast af in it?

I know there's driving classes you can take 'n shit, but are there any other things I should do to start off?

I'm mostly interested in starting out basic, like finding a place nearby and driving around it late at night (congested suburban areas make it difficult to find cool driving places). But how will I know when I'm ready to actually race other people?

Etc.

When you can do it on a fucking track. Preferably in a secondary car so you don't fuck up your DD.
Seriously, unless the roads are completely empty don't fucking try to drive fast on them.

What is the most expensive toll road in your state/province/country?

In Canada, it's Highway 407. It costs C$50.18 (US$37.91) to drive 108 km (67 mi) on it.

Hey /o/. Currently driving a 93 Civic that has reached 200k miles last week and looking to upgrade. I make about 34k gross per year. I've been looking at these 4 cars and need advice as to is better buying used or new?? I'm the type that will keep a car until the motor blows. I want a newer car cause it would be nice to have a/c.

Are you by any chance black?

Also out of those listed I'd get the focus, but they're all shit in complete honesty and you would be throwing away your money. Get another used 3k civic. If you're going to spend 15k on a car you should get your money's worth.
>>
I would not get a Chrysler 200, it's an old platform already discontinued. Nor would I get a fwd hatchback if you plan on keeping long term.

The Chrysler 300 and Charger are great cars. But you know what's better? Getting the same thing with a V8 and manual for the same price. http://www.davesmith.com/used/Dodge/2011-Dodge-Challenger-45ab6f870a0e0aea7ed8e035cf1803ef.htm
>>
>>17008122
I would get the Charger 392 which is enough power for me, and for fun, but just want a DD right now. I know the ones I posted are V6's which I'm fine with right now.

So, I'm buying a car for the first time, and I've got a budget of about $9k-10.5k. I've looked at a 2014 Elantra, a 2015 Sentra (11.5k) and... a 2011 MINI Cooper S.

The Mini is obviously the most fun thing to drive. Coming in at 72k miles and $9.9k, it seems like a quality car. No problems to be seen, but it's had quite a few things replaced in the past, as most Minis tend to need.

I love the car... But what should I know before taking the plunge? Or should I just stay far away for dear life?

Drive what you want first of all.

Just be aware you BMW erm um Mini is going to cost more over time.

If you don't mind that and want to have fun, do it.

Hyundais are shit

God forbid something breaks, because then you're paying BMW repair bills. And it WILL break.

Is there a vehicle of some sort that women have never driven? I'm looking to buy a car that is the exact opposite of the Miata and the secretary special mustang - an actual man's car, intended to be driven exclusively by men. I'm leaning towards a Dodge Ram but I saw a woman driving one the other day so that's out of the question - thoughts?

Okay /o/, I'm basically retarded when it comes to the actual wear and tear of a vehicle. What exactly is it that makes high mileage bad? Is there anything irreversible or irreparable to look out for? I'm lost and stupid, please advise.

>>
>>17007843
Look at what the car looks like, ask to see the maintenance records, check electronics.

Besides that it is pretty irrelevant. Some old Hondas from the 90s can have like 300k miles and everything still works great on them.

OH if buying manual check clutch ware before you buy. That is a shitty 1000 bill to get shoved right when you buy a car.
>>
>>17007843
Wear and tear.
Parts wearing down, especially those "lifetime" parts.

Every car has different weak points to look out for, like rusty chassis/underbody for early Mazdas and everything after 120K miles for VWs.
>>
Don't bother looking at the car. Just deal the price to shit ridiculous low level as even the seller knows no one wants to buy it and you are the first person in a month to even bother come and see it.

Because they are appliance at that level. Poor people need a better connection with their car as it ends up being their lifeline all too often.

Rich and faux rich just need to throw money and wants an easy alphanumerical way to show the world how much they spent.
