My mechanic dented my door replacing the tires. When they offered to replace the door, they mistakenly repaired it instead, but now they insist repairing is the right choice for two reasons. First, the paint job on a new door would be inferior to the original paint job. According to the manager, the manufacturer bakes their paint job to 600 degrees, which results in a more resilient coat. The body shop can only bake their paint job on a new door to 150 degrees.

Normally, that wouldn't be enough to smooth me over, but they also offered to repaint and clear bra my hood for free.

I don't know anything about paint jobs, but the repair appears good (hinges not bent, cosmetically indistinguishable from the exterior, paint not damaged) and the hood paint and clear bra was an offer I wasn't expecting.

Pic related, the initial damage. Thoughts?

I know it's probably retarded for some reason, i'd love to know why:

All of those chavs, poorfags, and whatever else is quite a large market. I'm absolutely sure they would love to get ~10hp gain in their NA cars for small money, and i think it would be possible to create ~0.1-0.2 bar pressure with electric fans. This kind of device could be attached easily and without exhaust modifications.

But for some reason, it's not a thing, so i guess it's impossible to do. Why? Are stock manifolds/injections not capable of handling positive pressure? Or am i wrong about electric fans being able to pull off 0.1 bar without killing car battery?

It is, Audi are experimenting with it. They are very expensive to get the required airflow for even a modestly sized engine though and that's why Audi are looking to use them as infill around the conventional turbo.

Hey /o/... I recently got my first decent job, I'm no longer a poorfag.

I need advice on what new, sensible car to get. I've driven a shitty corolla for about 7 years. Looking to get something new.

I'm considering getting a Nissan Sentra. I spoke to a dealer and he said my payments would be around 360$/month. Is this a good deal? Is the Sentra a good car?

Forgive me if I sound ignorant, I'm not a carfag, I've never really been into cars. Please help!

everyone will tell you buying a new car is not a good idea. It really isn't

but if you're in the rust belt and you're going to baby rustproof this car forever then go for it since that's the only reason I'd go for a new car myself, a truly rust-free car.

FUCK NO TO THE SENTRA THOUGH.

dunno if Nissan has stepped up their game but fuck the sentra. My dad had one and it was bad bad bad. He has an Elantra now and that's very decent so imagine how bad the Sentra must have been

I'm looking for a car to play around with and I've narrowed it down to a mr2 spyder or a miata. In b4 op is gay, we all know that already.

I've done some research on both, and I'm still torn. I like the idea of mid-engine and the mr2 is lighter. Monkey wrench racing is around a 2 hour drive from me, so I could go there to get parts. I also like the styling more. However, I'm kind of scared of the mr2's track record. The 1zz from 2000-02 was notorious for having the incorrect piston rings installed so they slap and burn oil. Not to mention ALL years mr2's have the dreaded pre-cats which blows up the engine too.

I'm a big and tall guy at 6'4" tall and 265lbs. The mr2 has more headroom and shoulder room, but the miata seems to have more leg room. I haven't sat in either yet, just looking at stats on paper. I'm all torso and only have a 30 inch inseam so the mr2 might have more room.

I'll have enough money to buy the car AND throw mods at it right out of the box. I could always get a mr2 and have monkey wrench racing do a 2zz swap on it. Then again I could get an older miata for cheaper and toss even more mods on it. I kind of like that miata's come in automatic, I might go that route because I have a lazy left foot. (How gay is an automatic miata though?) The semi-manual in the mr2 is bull-shit garbage and I wouldn't even consider that.

What would you guys go for? I'm most likely going to get which ever one I fit in more comfortably.

mr2 based on the fact that miatas are played out and need a lot of bracing. mr2 probably does too, but at least it's not a miata. plus mr is unique.

if you get an automatic just kys
>>
>>17091279
As a fresh MRS owner the piston rings were fine. It was all because of precats having suicide pact with the 1zz. They are brittle and tend to break, small particles get sucked into the engine thanks to VVTI and they damage piston rings and start damaging pistons and cylinders.

Most people gut the precats almost instantly, especially now.

MRS handling is subline, it being MR it loves tight corners and hairpins. Aftermarket isn't as good as miat tho, which is also a great handling machine.

Since you're tall first mods you want to make are getting a smaller steering wheel for MRS. I'm 180cm and even I feel a bit cramped. The pedals, steering and gearbox is fantastic.
If you want one get post facelift:
less deadly precats
frame stiffening
LSD
6 speed manual ready to take 2zz

Precats are a problem for all MRS's and cars that have it. It is an easy remove tho. Hardest part is securing a 22mm o2 socket.

Second problem is shocks dying at around 150k km (120k miles roughly)

Honestly a great car, get it. I reccomend finding or adding aftermarket exaust since you'll hear a lot of road noise and outside noise, and rather have that sound nice.

Beware: Speakers are shit and believe the "lol can't even carry a tampon in mrs storage space" but take the last with a grain of salt.

Check out spyder communities and forums, lots of info and buyers guides.

As for mods I mentioned exaust and smaller steering wheel.
I'd say focus on lightening the car with lightweight wheels good tyres, improved suspension and frame stiffening. It has plenty of power.

Ignore most of 4chan posts it's mostly benchracing and busriding.

MRS bein a convertable needs bracin too. Hardtop helps.
