What does /o/ thinks of pattern parts, third party parts, etc. Would you scour the scrapyards for an original fender, sideskirts, doors, etc instead of buy a new pattern parts for the same(sometimes even cheaper) money?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
i sure would, most cars that get scrapped are scrapped because of one specific problem that would cost more to repair than the person bought the car for, so you could have a perfectly functional everything around a dead engine, or vice versa. if you aren't afraid to get murdered by a dog they're great places to go
>>
Depends on the car and how good the pattern is.
>>
>>17835259

Yes, but scrapyard owners are wising up so just do the research

I've been wondering if there are any cars with decent paddle shifters around 10-15K ameribucks,

The only ones I could seem to find was the G37 and BRZ/FRS,

Also general paddle shifter thread, im interested in learning more about them because I want a car for commute and to make my manual shitbox a weekend car.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
BMW 335i from 09 onward has either dual clutch or the ZF transmission. Both of which are faster shifters than any stick driver.

The 7 and 8 > 6 for the ZF BUT i've only had complaints while tracking. The normal road driving its smooth as can be
>>
>>17834700
I *think* there's a model of saab 93 2.0T that comes with paddle shifters. IDK what year tho. Its a nice car, pushes over 200hp and gets great highway gas mileage.
>>
>>17834700
Use a manual on your commute, pussy.

>>

no specialist, but it seems the consensus is that they're fun af to drive but are build with BMW logic into an even smaller space

Meaning they are miserable to maintain over 100k.

Only just now going to bed.... Don't think this is a good idea, but too late now: I'm sure epic road trips have been made on 5 hours of sleep.

Hey /o/
A friend has had a 2002 Ford Ranger XL for a while now. Recently his intake hose has been going out. He went to a ford dealer and they told him the part number for the intake hose is 1L5Z-9B659-AA however upon searching we were only able to find 1L5Z-9B659-BA intakes. Would this work as a replacement for the truck intake hose or where would we be able to find an exact version of the one he needs? We have searched local junkyards, we have scoured the internet and still we cant find a thing for this specific intake hose. Any help is appreciated.

Just had the major service done at a highly recommended independant Subaru specialist in my city. (the timing belt one) how long should set me right for?

think from here on I should learn to work on my car myself and just take it in to see him for the more major services?

What should I start off learning to do and what should I do in approx 6 months myself?

oh look, another wrx owner who doesn't know how to work on their own car

fuck you
>>
>>17834275
>how long should set me right for?

If you're asking how long until you'll need it done again, probably around 50-100k miles unless you beat on it.

Yeah, I'd recommend learning how to work on it yourself, and take it in for things that could destroy your engine or at least be a bad time if you fuck them up (like the timing belt)

Start of changing your oil, it's pretty easy to do, I've got a nearly identical WRX, except mine is a wagon. The oil filter mounts on the bottom and you might need a tool (or just a bit of rubber and a firm grip) to get it out.

Suspension and brakes are decently easy to work on yourself, it's pretty apparent how it all goes together. Really, just try and work through it as things need repaired.

>>17834569
>someone trying to learn how to work on their own stuff. Fuck you for trying

at 6 month services what else should I be aiming to do besides oil changes?

Brand name doesn't mean everything, faggot.

I regularly see Audis and BMWs for under $4k. The reason?

they are shitboxes

I'd say that's a fair price for a 6 year old 3 series with 60k miles. It's expensive to maintain """luxury""" cars, and this is a well used """luxury""" car, and on top of that, it's a BMW.

Luxury cars depreciate much more than your average car.

Also I underestimated just how small 3" long is, it's perfect for laptops and smaller devices, but I think it's a bit too small for PCs. When I do restocks I'll get them back but at 4" long and that should fix it.
However these ones right now are just as good, the text is really small but absolutely legible, here's a pic with a credit card as reference.

Also for shipping: I'd really recommend you guys choose the bubblemailer option to make sure the stickies keep safe. I'll try my best to keep the lettermail ones save, but your best bet is bubblemailer.
