Is there interest on this board for a 4chan cup team?
I honestly think /news/ should be in some kind of mascot or scenery role until we get more people.
I think we are the smallest of all the recent trial boards.
Perhaps we could have a unique special stadium and pitch made for us, or maybe /news/men could be some of the refs or shown on the sideline taking pictures or something.
Just my 2 cents.
/trash/ is new too, but they've got a team.
and /aco/ is making one now.
that said, I think you're right, >>18318.
you're almost /po/ slow right now, so not much board culture yet.
Still glad to hear you're interested though. We'd love to have you in the games once you pick up a bit.
you should talk to the officials. I'm sure they could work something out like that.
yeah, but without the quotes, leave that for >DailyMail, or things like that
So far I got these:
Clickbait (the number 8, of course)
Florida Man (or @_FloridaMan)
>can't post pics
but it's a weak lineup. The lack of memeing means slow board best board, though.
Mohammed Abad, just because I feel we'll hear from him some more.
I thought about Weathergirl, but it felt like just throwing too much news reporting jargon for the sake of it, because we never EVER talk about the weather.
Talking about that, for the next big hurricane we could use a weather-tan:
I meant Weather-tan, only to be used for weather happenings, like /pol/ uses ebola-tan and winter-chan
but I really like the idea of having a news team, even if only the main is our tan.
Seconded. I love that song, and I think it represents /news/ well. I found a more recent mix but it's still almost 20 years old and the group that made it is long gone now. Maybe someone else knows of a dubstep version or something.
Best I can find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DX4nsobHW8
>dying of heart attack
>dying of breast cancer
>dying of a japanese nuclear bomb
>mountains of credit card debt
>mountains of cocaine
My favorite part.
This is good. We have a theme song, we have an idea for a -tan, one that could also double as our team, I feel like we're becoming a real board! If only people didn't want to delete us. Hopefully Hiro won't listen to them.
I do like the idea of having one of those news intro opening title sequence jingles as our goalhorn though.
Something like these
Anchorman: Main -tan, looks like a respectable man since we're turning out to be a respectable board.
Sportscaster: Maybe he looks like /sp/'s -tan.
Weathergirl: I like the idea of her having different outfits for the seasons.
Field Reporter: Needs an outfit that symbolizes that he is ready to be anywhere, since our articles can be from anywhere and about anything.
Camera man: He's only here sometimes in the morning, leaving immediately afterward, symbolizing that we are a text board, and can only post images in the OP. Maybe he's a drunkard.
Other guys can be co-hosts based on any memes we have or develop.
Man, I'm such a childish dumbass.
What do you guys think?
Thank you. It just feels like we need to get in the good graces of the other boards, because if they keep complaining, Hiro might delete us. He changed the New Years message to the Sundance one because of a suggestion in /qa/, and that might just be the beginning.
I was thinking. These people are reporters for the whole world. Sounds obvious, but the situation where we put them include the whole world. Helicopter Guy should be reporting on those 3 day long Chinese traffic jams, and Sportscaster should be hanging around a lot in Brazil lately. Just saying.
taking the meaning of textboard to a whole new level
I can't offer much except in my opinion I think (it's a guy, right?) he should look more like Edward R. Murrow more or Walter Cronkite sitting at a desk rather than a 40s journalist with a fedora.
I'll just organize an idea for an image, then ask for it on /wsr/ tomorrow. Hopefully someone'll pick it up, then I'll make a thread for discussion, and to ask the mods to redo the sticky with our tan.
Anchorman: he's handsome; has good hair; wears a nice suit; gold tie clip that says /news/
Sportscaster: wears a football jersey over a suit; baseball cap; soccer ball on his mic; middle-aged; bald
Weathergirl: QT; wearing tight, winter themed dress; laid-back
Field Reporter: wears spacesuit with /news/ team 4 in place of American flags; can't see his face; huge backpack; always holding a microphone, even though it doesn't help
Camera Man: wears white buttonup& slacks; has a few stains; torn tie; holds bottle; never late, but always leaves early; rides large camera with stage lights and editing equipment; badly shaven face
Helicopter Pilot: Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, and sunglasses; likes posing
Co-hosts: all made in the style of ASCII images; have numbers on their chests; enough to round out our soccer team, probably 4; also like posing
How does this sound? I'll request it tomorrow, if everyone is fine with it.
I just really like that a dead textboard will have a fully interesting -tan while an older porn board still can't decide on which generic anime, er, CARTOON, girl to have.
Also, I came up with most of it, and am proud that people think that it's a decent idea.
I like this, but at risk of adding too much, I wanted a Technology Editor.
Also, we STILL need more members for the team, even if we use all of these >>18416
I propose adding the team members, and make them play in the field according to their job. Camera man in the back, field reporter and helicopter guy where the action is, anchorman is the man player (is it the 10?), the co-hosts are support. I know shit about football, you get the idea.
Weathergirl is number 36° because she's hot as fuck. Are we going to make custom desgins?
trying not to go for stereotypes feels forced, so I'd go directly for a black Sportscaster, an asian tech guy, why not a hawaian Helicopter Pilot surfing the winds, a chubby and unshaved Camera Man
Weathergirl just has to be a spic desu >>18726
Could someone here reply to this thread, to show that more than one person is interested? I've noticed that threads with higher post counts and higher amounts of people requesting it are more likely to have the request fulfilled.
Well, this is current news, so threads auto-sage after 48 hours. We shouldn't make a new thread, since this one already breaks the rules by not being about news, but we can make a new one if our -tan is drawn, since we can cite that as news.
I wish a drawfriend would do our request.
I say we don't make another thread, even if we get the -tan, because:
>I think anyone intersted is already here
>Glaciar-pace board, so only casuals don't see this thread
>If we make threads every time one reaches page 3, we'll have five threads at one point
>The whole affair is just trademark 4chan autism, not news. But this is cool autism, so it gets to live in a heavy-moderated board. Becoming too loud is just asking for deletion, or at least hate.
>If it doesn't take off, well, be it so. I don't see point in forcing it
The next thread should be when the cup starts, if ever, or if we have a whole team drawn, not just any excuse to circumvent the bump limit.
And I insist that notoriety is meaningless in such a slow board
>because we never EVER talk about the weather.
what about the Comfy Jonas threads?
the weather makes the /news/ when it has a big enough impact
Also, is there any reason we can't just swipe a few news personalities??
shit, I'm actually disappointed there hasn't been a Ron Burgundy meme on here yet
Maybe Will Ferrell will have a break down and spend a weekend in jail, that would certainly help
It feels strange being in a board so small that my shitty opinions and contributions will influence the image and culture of the board for years to come.
Just 21 IP's deciding the fate of the board
Newfag here... Im new to 4chan, just started using it about a couple of months ago. /news/ is were i started and were i spent most of my time on. I want to be part of this but i still dont get what the 4cc is all about. Would one of you kind men refer me to an explanation of how this all works? Like i said, i want to be part of this.
every board has an electronic football team generated and managed by a chantard
there are regular tournaments held through out the year
it's got it's own history complete with scandal and memefaggotry
look up Dragongate
