We deserve to keep ourselves safe by hearing the facts. If there are many people--especially young violent males--going to countries and these people are full of despair, hate and rage, we definitely should have these stats. I doubt they appreciate the food, shelter and support, too.

It is a clash of cultures and there are bad ones on each side: but no one has the right to deny me my safety in awareness.

http://abc7.com/news/474-arrested-in-california-human-trafficking-stings/1732137/

LOS ANGELES -- Authorities say 474 people have been arrested in a multiday sting operation focused on human trafficking in California.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said Tuesday the arrests came after a three-day operation conducted by 30 law enforcement agencies across the state last week.

Investigators say as part of the sting, undercover officers posed as prostitutes on street corners and also posted advertisements online.

Officials say three dozen people were arrested on suspicion of being pimps.

They say officers also rescued 28 children who were being sexually exploited and offered services to 27 adults they said were victims of sex trafficking.

McDonnell says the arrests represent a "very sad commentary on the condition we're dealing with."

District Attorney Jackie Lacey says authorities won't tolerate children being sexually exploited.

http://ktla.com/2017/02/01/474-arrested-28-sexually-exploited-children-rescued-during-statewide-human-trafficking-operation-lasd/

Hundreds of people were arrested and dozens of sexually exploited children and adult victims were rescued across California during a statewide operation to combat human trafficking, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Tuesday.

The statewide operation took place over the three-day period between last Thursday and Saturday.

In total, 474 arrests were made, including 142 males on solicitation charges, and 36 males on suspicion of pimping, according to figures provided by the Sheriff’s Department.

Additionally, 28 commercially and sexually exploited children and 27 adult victims were rescued.

“You are worthy of more. And we will work tirelessly with our partners … to provide you services and help you rebuild your life,” Sheriff Jim McDonnell said, addressing the victims during a news conference on Tuesday.

The minors who were recovered during the operation were being cared for by various children and family services agencies across the state, according to sheriff’s officials. The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking and the Saving Innocence organization were coordinating efforts to help victims in L.A. County.

“Operation Reclaim and Rebuild focused on rescuing victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking, providing victims with much-needed services, identifying and arresting their captors, seeking successful prosecutions, and disrupting the demand for vulnerable victims by targeting their customers,” the release stated.

“Police agencies and other trafficking task forces throughout our state joined in the enforcement operation to send the clear message that California law enforcement shares a unified mandate: Human trafficking must not be tolerated in our state!”

>The Senate voted 51-50 to confirm President Donald Trump's education secretary nominee, Betsy DeVos, on Tuesday. Vice President Mike Pence stepped in to break a 50-50 deadlock that occurred after Democrats voted along party lines, joined by Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska).

>Pence's vote was the first time in U.S. history a vice president has ever been called on to tip a Cabinet confirmation vote. On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called DeVos the "least qualified nominee in a historically unqualified Cabinet." Republicans have called the billionaire school-voucher proponent the kind of reformer the education system needs.

I still don't understand how "totally unfamiliar with the system, policies, and basic issues of the department" can translate into "the kind of reformer the education system needs." The republican motto has always been party before country. Fun fact: they're holding Sessions' confirmation until afterward because they still needed him as a senator to help get her confirmed.

Also look up the donations made by the Devos family to members of senate.

2 days ago, Jim Olsson, 71 year old retired professor, lost a court case against Expressen, a tabloid here in sweden.
2013 expressen launched a campaign targetting sceptics of the mass immigration. They cooperated with criminal organisation Researchgruppen, who posessed database dumps of several hacked sites to cross reference and expose the identity of anonymous forum writers. Writers that were concerned over the direction sweden is headed with our mass immigration.
In other words, according to expressen they commited thought crimes, and were to be exposed, stigmatized, heckled, ruined.
Jim Olsson was awarded a poster and front page article for his thought crime.
A problem tho, he was accredited to writing much harcher and more hateful things than he actually wrote, due to mis-quotes by expressen.
He got the blame for things others had written.
So he went to court seeking retribution for the false claims made against him.
2 days ago, the court, consisting of politicians sharing Expressens ultra-leftist, anti-white agenda, dismissed the case and freed Expressen of responsibility, causing Jim to have to pay for expressens lawyer costs.
And then ,pictured, they drag him through the dust again, bragging over having defeated him.

http://www.computerworld.com/article/3158146/personal-technology/microsoft-tries-again-to-get-people-off-windows-7.html

>Not for the first time, Microsoft is casting aspersions on Windows 7, the highly successful version of its OS that was a nice rebound after the Vista disaster, saying the aging OS is becoming increasingly hard to secure.

>It's not an unreasonable or incorrect statement.

>Windows 7 shipped in 2009. Eight-year-old OS versions are going to be harder to maintain than new ones, no question. And a blog post is a lot less obnoxious than some of Microsoft's previous tactics, like changing the close window icon to one that indicated approval of the install.

>The latest effort is from a blog post published by the German subsidiary of the company, pointing to the difficulties of maintaining the old operating system as compared to Windows 10.

>"Today, Windows 7 can no longer keep up with increased security requirements. Rather, it provides for higher operating costs -- for example, maintenance, lost working time due to increased malware attacks, or even increased support requests," wrote Irene Nadler.

>Markus Nitschke, head of Windows at Microsoft Germany, reiterated Nadler's point in the blog post, adding, "Windows 7 is slowly advancing in years. Already, it neither fits the requirements of the users of modern technologies, or meet the high security requirements of IT departments. As earlier with Windows XP, we recommend that companies should take early steps to avoid future risks or costs.”
...

>>
>Of course, they stepped back over the line of hyperbole with the next statement. "Windows 7 is based on outdated security architecture.

>Companies and users who won’t upgrade from Windows 7 within the next three years are facing enormous dangers."

>Nadler then goes on to praise Windows 10 and the security improvements that are part of the operating system, such as Windows Hello offering biometric login window via fingerprint, face or iris recognition, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, which uses behavior patterns to detect malware, Windows Information Protection and Windows Store for Business, which provides centralized purchasing, managing and distributing Windows Store Apps in the enterprise.

>I don't fault Microsoft for wanting to get people moving, because they had such a hard time uprooting XP users. And a lot are sticking with it. The new PC Trends Report from Avast Software found that 6.5 million of its users still run Windows XP, and that’s just from Avast’s user base.

>So long as they don't engage in their previous trickery, a promotional effort is fine with me. Some of the doom and gloom predictions will cause some eyes to roll, but they still have a point.

>I suspect Microsoft forgets how hard it is to move, though. Back when it was pushing the XP migration, I spoke to numerous small businesses who said their reason for staying with XP had nothing to do with getting new hardware but the vertical software used to run their businesses. An eye doctor and chiropractor both told me the software they used would not run on Windows 7 and they would need to buy new versions costing over $10,000. That's a major investment with no ROI because all it does is keep doing what the old version did.

>There is a little good news on the Windows licensing front. Taiwan-based DigiTimes reports Microsoft has agreed to lower Windows 10 licensing rates for under 14.1-in. low-cost notebooks that will launch this year. The change is set to come into effect on March 1. The story says that Microsoft's motivation is likely the increased popularity of Chromebooks and the fact that Google does not charge a licensing fee for Chrome OS.

>> 'Get out of France': Paris police tear gassing refugees and stealing blankets in freezing conditions, report reveals

Most of them are racist animals. First their country sends bombs to blow up their country, their homes and their people, then the government tortures them by pretending to care. I don't care for their culture, but only people who are dead on the inside rapists would assault them, steal their warmth in the winter cold. An obscene, barbaric country (not much love in france).

Leaders DO NOT CARE. They are merely spiritless exhibitionists without shame and without honor. They are too dangerous to name.

>Precipitous declines in print advertising rocked the newspaper industry last year. And while The New York Times Company recorded significant growth in subscriptions and promising increases in digital advertising, it nevertheless has not avoided the inevitable.

>The company said on Thursday that its print advertising revenue in 2016 fell 16 percent, driving a 9 percent drop in total advertising revenue. For the quarter, print advertising revenue declined 20 percent.

>The story on the digital side was positive. Digital advertising revenue rose 6 percent last year, to $209 million. The Times added 514,000 net digital-only subscriptions for its news products during the year, bringing its total to 1.6 million. Buoyed by readers’ intense interest in the presidential election, The Times added 276,000 net digital-only subscriptions to its news products in the last three months of the year.

>Including print and crossword product subscriptions, The Times now has more than three million total paid subscribers.

>In a statement, Mark Thompson, chief executive of the Times Company, expressed optimism.

>“We continue to experience significant headwinds in print advertising, but the robustness of our consumer business, which we expect will continue, provides a strong counterbalance to these market challenges,” he said. “We will remain focused on our legacy cost base while continuing to invest in digital growth and innovation.”

>As for many other legacy print companies trying to adapt to an increasingly digital world, these have been challenging times for The New York Times. Last month, The Times released an internal report that called for swift changes in the newsroom, including more staff training, a commitment to hiring journalists with wider-ranging skills and an elimination of duplicative layers of editing.

...

>That has left employees bracing for staff reductions that newsroom leaders said could be announced in the next several weeks.

>And despite positive developments on the digital side, the overall financial results announced Thursday are unlikely to assuage the tangible anxiety among journalists at The Times.

>Total revenue fell about 2 percent for the year, to $1.6 billion, and 1 percent in the quarter, to $440 million.

>Adjusted operating profit, the company’s preferred method for assessing performance, fell to $241 million last year, from $289 million in 2015. Operating profit dropped to $102 million, from $137 million.

>For the quarter, adjusted operating profit was $96 million, compared with $118 million in the fourth quarter in 2015. Operating profit fell to $56 million, from $88 million.

>On a more positive note, circulation revenue rose 3 percent in 2016, to $881 million. For the quarter, circulation revenue increased 5 percent, to $226 million. Revenue from the company’s digital-only subscriptions jumped 17 percent in 2016, to $233 million. For the quarter, digital-only subscription revenue rose 22 percent, to $64 million.

>On Wednesday, The Times announced the promotion of Clifford J. Levy, a top digital editor, to the position of deputy managing editor. On Thursday, the company announced a partnership with Snapchat to create a new daily edition for the app’s Discover section, with the aim of gaining exposure to a younger audience.
