Icon of Amtrak, staple of freight railroads, and bane of furfags everywhere. What's not to love?
I've actually had the privilege of riding on a train pulled by one of these industrial giants, going down the line, passing stopped highway traffic, thinking to myself, "OUT OF THE WAY FUCKERS, CAUSE WE'RE A GODDAMN TRAIN!"
So yeah, you get the gist.
>I've actually had the privilege of riding on a train pulled by one of these industrial giants, going down the line, passing stopped highway traffic, thinking to myself,
Caltrain, ACE, Metrolink or Trirail?, those are the only two operators I can think of that still use F40s and not F59s.
By the way the F40PH meme was forced by Ham549 of 1chan
>>912645
SD uses F40s on the Coaster
One of my first HO scale locos was an F40. They look really pretty in the snow for some reason, senpai
>>912645
Metra uses them still
>>912645
Just about every single commuter agency with dieselized routes still use them with the exception of a few small meme commuter rail lines in Salt Lake City and New Mexico and other places.
>>912645
NJ transit had them, I've ridden them.
>>912657
Amtrak still uses phase 2 F40's on their Hiawatha and Hoosier State services. The engine is gutted but they have their original liveries and look rusty as shit. They just use them as control units now.
>tfw an F40PH will unironically be passing several dozen yards from me in about half an hour
I think Maryland's whatever the fuck public rail thing still uses a few GP38s and GP40s.
>>912690
How can a train pass you ironically?
>>912707
You mean MARC?
And no, they've already retired those.
>>912711
Looks like they still have one GP-40 variant and a few GP-39s.
But you're right, most have been retired.
I paid $20 just to be able to make this screenshot
>>912645
I haven't seen a trirail F40 in a minute.
All I see anymore are the GP49's, and BL36's
>>912725
Not worth it.
>>912645
MBTA also has them so does VIA
>>912635
>bane of furfags everywhere
What
>>912645
MBTA still uses a few iirc. Fuck them for replacing the F40 with those new eyesores though
>>912645
Metra has the largest F40PH fleet, IIRC senpai

Fairly new to /n/
>>912663
f40phm-2
metra doesn't have a separate HEP powerplant, it uses an inverter off the prime mover. for instance VIA uses a cummins or caterpillar diesel for HEP.
>>913450
>Implying F40PH Friday is an /n/ meme
>>912635
I didn't know they had a longcat version.
Love the old Amtrak units, gives me nostalgia.
>>912690
Take pics fgt
>>913445
Noice.
Anyone remember the episode of reading rainbow about trains. The F40PH was a big part of that episode.
>>914199
>>914193
Fuck, my eyes were not ready.
>>914199
What? ! No, but now I want to see it.
Mfw
How did F40PH become the memetic diesel? Why not an F7 or an FA?
>>912657
livery looks just AMAZING
>>914533
I think it was in part because it was the face of Amtrak for so long and it was during the formative years.
Then it took off after it became used to derail (hue) furfag threads. And the rest is meme history.
>>914568
so fucking ugly compared to the F7 tho
>>914615
Yeah but memes don't need to be pretty :^)
>>914615
You must be a furry
>>914533
Because the F40PH is the most awesome thing ever, it has nothing to do with it being a locomotive.
On the NY MTA Metro-North Hudson Line
>>912635
>F40PH
Big wup Ive taken Amtrak a million times.
>tfw NPCUs without that fucking garage door in the side
>>916939
thank you based anon
> staple of freight railroads

>>916941

>>912635
