If you had unlimited money, what bike would you get?
I'd probably get a 'rello Dogma 2bh.
>>1035849
I know it's a meme bike, but I love those S-Works Venge ViaS Discs that pop up on Insta. Murdered out with some 60mm Rovals, Rotor cranks and E-Tap.
>>1035849
Geez, Bicycling Magazine regularly trots out $10000 road race bikes, any of which I'm sure would be awesome to race on, but beyond scoffing at way too expensive bikes they review, I don't think about them too much. I'd be perfectly happy with a Wilier Zero Point Nine or Zero Point Seven, for that matter, and they're affordable enough that I should be able to save for one of them.
>>1035849
The exact same bike as your picture, OP. But with full campy and in full black. How much does that frame set costs?
cycling has been something I've been wanting to get into, particularly road cycling. Not really sure what I need besides a bike though, thought this would be a good place to ask. So what is a good beginner level road bike and what are the minimum supplies I need to not just be some kid with a fancy bike?
How much are you willing to spend?
If you're an Yuropoor, Decathlon's B'Twin has good bikes for the price.
Important is spare tires, spare inner tubes, pump, lights, helmet, winter gloves, shit to clean your chain and casette.
>>1034505
Dunno how much shit costs, though I highly doubt I have enough money to get most of the stuff at once. I also won't be needing winter gear as I live on a tropical island.
>>1034507
What's your budget? You only need a bike to start riding, you can get everything else as you get more money or need it.
How do I into juicy bike leg mode?
squats
i fill my inner tubes with water for strength training
i hear this is some of the pros technique
It is benefit because you work more and get strong

What a cool little plane, would you fly it? I would.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pBxqUG4cfk
I can't fly, but I would take a ride in it.
>>1030417
The real question is, can I bullseye womprats in that back home"
>>1030417
fun fact, Bart Verhees, the designer of that plane, also designed and build the Verhees Alleweder velomobile, which started the Quest velomobile
Okay /n/ I go on 60+ mile bike rides on a single gear fixie bike and my ass hurts. What can I do to reduce the pain ?
Wear cycling shorts, use butt cream, get a better saddle, in that order.
>>1037214
fix your saddle angle too
Saddle angle
Saddle height
Saddle fore/aft adjustment
Bar angle
Bar height
Bar fore/aft position
Cycling shorts (Aero Tech Designs SM010 is great, comfy and affordable)
Stop being a fixie faggot
Whatever you do, do NOT give into the brooks meme. They're pure shit and will not help.
Anyone from Yekaterinburg?
Why is photography in the metro prohibited? I saw the signs in all stations, but I always managed to take some photos of the trains - every time I spoke with the local policemen before, and they always permitted it.

Are subways in Russia/former Soviet Union treated as military facilities?
>>1037012
Everything in Russia is treated that way. Russians live in a constant mental state of war since 1917.

It doesn't hide your deformed torso enough

My torso isn't deformed.
It makes the deformities in your torso more prominent.
hello /n/
looking for my first road bike and found the giant contend sl 1 for $1315
thoughts?
specs: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/contend-sl-disc-1
Can't yet race with discs. Sexual bike tho
>>1036826
not looking to race, just recreational
Looks okay. Maybe a tad expensive for what it is but i'm used to lower euro prices. The only thing i really dislike is the pressfit BB.
Also something is odd: the brakes are listed as proprietray giant "hydraulic" disc brakes but the shifters are mechanical 105 shifters. Are those hybrid cabe/hydraulic dic brakes like the TRP HYRD? Note that i you must go shimano 105 the mechanical shifters are much better that the bulbous RS-505 equivalent shifters for hydraulic disc brakes.
Does anyone have an opinion on Cube bikes? In particular SL Road.
They're gud
They're shit

Bought a bike years ago of some meth head in his front yard for very cheap. Didn't consider at the time that it was most likely stolen.
Now that I'm a broke student I'm thinking of buying some parts and riding it.
Is this right thing to do? If the owner recognized the bike I would hand it over.

its been years. just gotta get over it man. or go throw some dog shit at the meth heads house

Why the heck do I feel pretty uncomfortable and way too fast when I do like 50 on a road-bike on a descent using the lower handlebar, whereas I feel absolutely relaxed doing 60 on a MTB ( once I did 92 k)? Same thing when cornering.
Have to say I'm quite a newbie to roadbiking, but I thought my 10 years spent on a MTB (including some races and even a bit of DH)were in some ways useful..How do I have to handle roadbikes when I want to go fast?
Poor bike fit. Get a professional fitting. Alternatively experience with different stems/saddles and settings but it's likely to cost as much as a fitting anyway.
Because you're leaned forward
Drops get comfy at >200 watts when your bike fit has been done correctly.
I just want to have this thread to appreciate our glycogen stores.
My stomach has always been a hungry bitch, I usually have breakfast at 8:00, if I sit on my ass I get very hungry by 11:00. But if I get on the bike, I dont get hungry, even while riding until late afternoon, spending 1000kcal per hour according to my powermeter. This is glycogen and fat stores doing their jobs.
I just want to take some time to appreciate our bodies ability to store energy and use this to ride like the gods we are.
>>1036166
>1000kcal per hour
Average wattage at that rate, for how many hours, and what do you weigh?
>>1036171
about 240-270 watts on average an hour on the longer rides depending on my form/will. Strava tells me I am at 1300kcal/hour when at my FTP of ~320 watts.
I weigh 62kg. I am terrible at explosiveness though, 800 watts is my max. When I try to do anything explosive like that my legs become sponges.
I am also recovering from a heavy crash and a concussion and I am physically weak as fuck which is very frustrating.
>>1036172
>about 240-270 watts on average
Yeah, that's about what I thought. The calculation is pretty straightforward, really, the human body is about 25% efficient, kcal/hour converts easily to kJ/hour, so I came up with about 290 watts. 240-270 watts sounds about right to be in high Zone-2 or Tempo (Zone-3).
>I am terrible at explosiveness though, 800 watts is my max. When I try to do anything explosive like that my legs become sponges.
That's because you're probably not one of the guys who strength trains in the gym in the Fall, and also you may not have many Type-II muscle fibers. Doesn't mean you can't train them to make them stronger though, but that really starts in the gym. You *do* do Force work, Threshold intervals, anaerobic intervals, and Lactate Tolerance reps, right? If not then there's your problem.

been thinking about it but the wages seem pretty shitty atm
Good as a side-job. I've done UberEats and Shoprunnr, to occupy myself on my days off from being a mechanic. The pay is shit, but for me it's a little extra cash to spend on non-essentials like going out to eat.
I've been doing some Ubereats runs, too.
