Just came back from a multi engine review flight w/ an IAP (non precision via an arc)
Gonna be walkin funny for a bit. Partly cause of the single engine, partly cause of the reaming I got from the instructor.

Heh, most of the time I'm pretty good with the autopilot but it threw me a curveball today loading an approach.
how bad do your tan lines get /n/? I get really deep lines ones on my arms but never seem to get any on my legs, almost as bad as the photo
As a pasty irishman I burn easily. Even with 50 - 60 SPF sunscreen I'd tan quite a bit. The glove tan lines were always the most amusing with tan ending at wrist with tanned finger tips.
The hassle of applying sunscreen to my arms and legs would make me decide to just not ride at all some days. So two years ago I decided to wear full finger gloves, sunsleeves and leg sleeves to make getting ready much faster. I also use a buff under my helmet to keep sweat out of my eyes and also keep my ears covered. A bonus of using sleeves instead means no bugs and dirty sticking to the sunscreen.
>>1063726
woah dude, that's pretty dedicated, got any photos of your burn/tan lines?
I'm white Nordic guy but I tan easily. Which causes pretty clear tan lines. And not only do I tan easily the tan lasts forever. I'm just now losing the tan lines from last season and it's almost time for short sleeves again. As a bonus my hair gets noticeably more blonde after being exposed to sunlight. So I get noticeable highlights if I have a helmet with large vents.
Pic related is my tan lines after the first few properly sunny summer rides last summer.
Yeah just dump these coaches here for now. Restore them maybe? Uhh nahh not now.
If it bothers you that they are left to rot, buy and restore them. Oh, you'd rather spend the money on something else? Guess it didn't bother you that much after all.
>>1063346
I would if I could but they're owned by the Kent And East Sussex Railway. Therefore there is truly no point in getting truly bothered by it.
>>1063346
Maybe give them a call and offer to donate some tarps to cover them?
Honestly heritage rail isn't easy. If they spend their limited resources on this it means less for the nice 37s, 56s, or steam engines with more modern coaches that they can actually run. I wouldn't knock them for letting some shitty old coaches go to rot.
I love cycling and I cycle a lot and I like going fast and doing long rides. I have never used Strava. Should I? I don't want to use it regularly, but I would just use it to get KOMs. I don't even know exactly how it works. How can I get a KOM? How difficult is the competition? Who organizes the routes? Is it whoever gets the fastest time on a single route or whoever does best over a month over multiple courses or what?
Redpill me on Strava KOMs
>>1063012
There are just segments you hit for KOMS on any given route you might ride. Also, if you havent been using it already do your rides even count?
>>1063020
>There are just segments you hit for KOMS on any given route you might ride.
So it's just whoever gets the fastest time on that segment that month?
Do you get points, like is there a winner for who gets the most segment wins?
And who determines what segments are scored?
>Also, if you havent been using it already do your rides even count?
Yes fuck you faggot
>>1063026
Its a meme dog. The KOM keeps the segment until someone else beats the time. you can go and see if there are segments on any of your regular rides. Its just fasted time until someone else beats it. You can create segments too, if you want to own KOMS on routes only you ride.
What bike is this exactly? pls help
A bike that you will take on the trail one time, decide that its heavy, slow and inefficient, then keep in your garage to ride in the snow a half a mile once a year.
>>1062004
fair enough, but whats it called?
>>1062005
a bicycle.
Do you guys belong to any Facebook groups?
I just joined Vintage Mountain Bike Collectors Society.
I would post a link but 4chan wont let me

Wtf was his problem?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4402216/Superman-cyclist-Michael-Guerra-stretches-saddle.html
Downhill on a fixie your speed is limited by how high a cadence your legs can tolerate. However being a fixed gear it would be damn near impossible to get your feet back on the pedals while the bike is moving quickly.
>Wanting to go faster than the rest
>Having a problem
What is it with americans and this phrase?
>Cruising down windy road with american visitor in passenger seat
>Keeping slow because I can see american is already shitting his pants at the turns, the cliff faces, potholes and so on.
>Car comes up behind
>When road opens up on a stretch I slow down and wave him passed
>American goes livid
>WHAT THE HELL WAS HIS PROBLEM MAAAN?!
>THATS SOOO ILLEGAAAAL
>>Bruh, I just let him pass. He could have passed anyway but I let him know I am letting him pass.
>WHY WOULD YOU DO THAAT?!
You guys got issues.

What's the point about this position ? Seem like everybody is talking about something every kid at my old town used to do 20 years ago.
Is it possible (not feasible) to build a tram/streetcar running on LIMs? What would happen with induction tracks on street, in dedicated and shared lane setting?
>tram
>shares road with cars
>steel cars
>big, powerful magnets in ground
>steel cars
>magnet

no
>>1062782
lol, you can do the aluminum reaction plate in the road, but the odds of the plate getting fucked up or stolen is high
>>1062793
Sure. Not saying it is feasible.
Would appreciate a linear synchronous motor scenario too. Don't know a lot about LIMs and LSMs, just curious.
what do you think /n/iggers?
It depends on the speed setting of the treadmill.
If you put it on max, the plane is gonna take off and hit the wall behind it.

2008 called, they want their meme back. You're way late to the party, Mythbusters already covered this one (in 2008), and by the way no, it won't.
Also you're likely Underage B&, that's the only way you would be 9 years late with this, please leave the site immediately, don't return until you're 18, kid.
It could.
How do you feel about the fact that a small city of 300K people in Canada has received a massive federal and provincial funding to build a $800M light metro-tier LRT (separate right of way, grade-separation at several points) over much larger cities that were denied such funding?
The one big difference between this city and the other cities that were denied was that this city is a permanent battleground -- both federal and provincial parliament seats are constantly switching back and forth between the three major political parties -- while the other cities are safe Liberal or safe NDP.
Doesn't kitchener have a university
>>1061838
>small city
>300K
That's mid-sized by US standards. 100K and below is small.
>>1061917
no.
Any /n/iggers from seattle? Heard something about a mandatory bike helmet law, please don't tell me it's actually enforced. Gonna be there for a month and it looks like a cool place to ride, but i'm not gonna wear a fag hat to do so.
i heard bigfoot comes out the woods to rape your lily-white ass when you ride without a helmet
>>1061708
Stop giving OP more reasons to leave home without his fag-hat.
Just ride out where there aren't any other people. Nobody will be able to report you for not wearing your mandatory fag-hat, and as a bonus nobody will be around to help you when you get injured in an accident and you might die.

Just moved to nyc. didnt bring my car so picked up an 10 year old specialized road bike off craigslist. how do i into bike ownership and commuting
>>1057867
>bike ownership
learn how take care of your bike
will eventually need to know how to do these things, in order of importance:
change a tube
lube a chain
adjust brakes
replace a chain
position saddle and bars properly
rewrap bars
repack bearings
redo cables
always use common sense when doing stuff, bikes aren't hard to understand
check out sheldonbrown.com for all the information you'll ever need
also, look up rj the bike guy on youtube, he has good demo videos for fixing stuff
>commuting
you should get fenders to keep water and road grit from splashing up on you
get a rack and a pannier to keep your stuff it, it will be much more comfortable than a backpack
get used to riding in traffic and learn how to position yourself to take control of a lane
look for calm, safe routes to get from A to B
keep your bike in good shape all the time, and keep spare parts around
carry a patch kit and a pump
use a good lock and lock your bike properly using the modified sheldon method
>>1057871
Thanks. Not OP but I am picking up a Planet x baby blue frame tomorrow. This helped.
Just moved to Oregon and learned to love biking pretty much as soon as I got here. So I got a decent marin larkspur to get around to work and generally enjoy the bike paths.
Now I'm looking ahead past fall and wondered if I could continue biking when winter hits. Then I found a bike, the Priority Continuum, from some bike video and saw they biked on solid lake ice no problem with the studded tires.
I'm just wondering if I should start saving for this bike or if it's even worth it?
>>1062749
Why not just get studded tires that you can put on the bike you already have?
>>1062751
I should've said I also like the belt and the gear drive. But I also don't know how they perform or how long they last.
>>1062749
you experience something that every bikefan has experienced.
the thing is, you want that bike, you don't need it.
you could put studded tires on yours.
that's not a real problem though.
give it some time to consider and look around and if you still want it in a month or two and can fund it, than go for it.
Hey guys,
I just bought this helmet, wondering if I should have gotten something different.
I'm looking for a mid-range street sport helmet, and I wear glasses.
Still trying to decide between full-face or modular.
I'd go with full face.
>>>/o/dbt
These guys will have better advice.
Modular helmets are shit. Having glasses doesn't make wearing a full face helmet any different. Though some full face models don't fit well with glasses due to the way their padding is arranged.
>>1062748
>padding
I tried a Bell revolver and found that to be the case.
I like the HJC fit, I just don't want to shell out $500 for an rpha 11.
