So I am an ogre. 6'2", 280lbs. Im the guy everyone always asks "hey man...you play football?". Nope...just a giant human that needs to get into shape.
So I have gathered that the good folks at Walmart don't know shit about bikes. The dude told me this Schwinn beach cruiser would be good for me. Well...my knees were coming fairly close to the handles and it made a funny noise when I stood up on the pedals and took my ass off the seat. It sounded like the crank were saying "I CANT FUCKING BREATHE GET OFF". anyways...im looking for a bike under 300$ that can take me on asphalt road, concrete sidewalk, dirt trail and grass field. Looks dont matter. I want to be semi comfortable...I dont want to be on a racing bike with a tiny seat wedged up my ass.
Please help.
don't buy a walmart bike. go to a bike store and be prepared to spend more. since this is america i'm sure they're used to dealing with 300 pound riders and can recommend something
also it will probably be over 300.
too bad

Walmart and target are terrible, go to a bike store, you might get lucky and find something under $300, or you could just steal a bike. Depending on where you live
So /n/ i need your help!
I bought this used Trek 1.2 Alpha used for 200$ for my girlfriend. Aside from the bartape and brakes, which clearly needs to be changed, how do i make this bike look girly.
And do you have any suggestions on good colour schemes that would make it look a little more like a girls racer. - thanks in advance
Focus on fit first. Get a wider saddle and give it some red bar tape or something.
> 200$ for my girlfriend
cuck
Let her choose the bartape color and don't care about it matching the color scheme.

They're like an inferior alternative to a 90s MTB with slicks
manifestation of US government's service to large private industry and relative disregard for the public well being
>>1094554
inferior when it has longer range, goes faster, more storage space, protects its occupants, etc?
This is awful. Is there a better (free) simulator or am I gonna have to spend $60 on X-Plane 11?
Free and good aren't two words that usually go together. If you cant pay for X-Plane just pirate it, simple.
>>1090773
I bought Xplane 7 2 weeks before they announced 8. No refunds. I was pissed so I heartily encourage piracy of that shithead's work. Fuck you austin.
>>1091065
It doesn't need to be good, just playable. FlightGear crashes constantly.
When I started cycling in the late 90's black bartape was uncommon but now it's everywhere, even for the pros. I get why your avarage joe dont want to change tape everytime it gets dirty, but does the pro mechanics have some weird union thing going on?
>>1088979
It's hard to make anything but black tape look good when all the bikes have black/grey components, black wheels, and a black/white/red color scheme.
>>1089008
I assume carbon is a bit to blame. I was at a pro race (UCI 1.2) earlier this year and some of the teams had "stealth bikes" so you couldnt even se the brand. Wasted money for those sponsors.
But for the looks, teams like Cannondale Drapac should look better with green bar tape.

As soon as the plane lands, people get off their seats and start standing in the aisle. They keep standing there until the door opens. If they would just wait for the people sitting ahead of them to get off, they would be able to come out of the plane more comfortably. I have witnessed the same behavior in buses as well.
Why do they do this?
Because my knees are on fire after a long flight and literally anything is better than spending another second in that shitty seat.
>>1087967
Because you can remove your bag from the overhead locker and stow away anything you had out (E.g. a book) and get out things like your passport, all while you're waiting. Then you just walk off the plane once it's clear in front of you, rather than being that cunt who stands in the fucking aisle blocking everybody else while you get your heavy ass bag down and then slowly repack everything.
>>1087967
cager mentality of wanting to get to the front to shave 3 sec of their commute. i see this on trains too. also crowd mentality subconsiously if everyonne is standing up you will want to stand up

Gee Bill, why does your mom let you have TWO saddles?
Pilots! If you can remember that far back, how did you find your first flight? I want to get my PPL in the future and I was considering CPL, but I did an intro flight in a C150 a month ago and I got panicked by the shakiness, to the point I actually felt stressed (I'm normally super chill) and the instructor turned it into a sightseeing flight. So, do you ever get over/get better control of that feeling of panic or is it game over for my aviation ambitions?

I just gotta say that woman in the jump-seat looks hot.

I got nerves doing my drivers test 15 years ago. Never before had I had such erratic nerves and jumpy control of my muscles. I could hardly control my feet (and I failed the test despite driving perfectly many times before)
Nerves are crazy if you've never felt them in calm situations before.
Your body gave you a shot of ADRENALINE bro. Pure fucking adrenaline. And it had everything to do with how nervous you were. The more you fly, the more they will go away. Stop freaking out and focus on flying correctly.
Some of you buy bikes.
Others just ride trains.
So why don't you buy trains?
Trains funded by taxes
I pay taxes
I own small part of every train

It won't fit in the garage
I don't have tracks that go everywhere
It'd be an even bigger pain in the ass to maintain than a car

ITT post skypics of cities from diff countries so we can compare infrastructure
Stadskanaal, the Netherlands
Ah, so lovely Finnish suburbs.
Atleast they are build in a way that buses are somewhat profitable and people can bike everywhere by separated paths.
This is my town now. Thoughts?
MTA Chairman Unveils $800 Million Rescue Plan
>The launch of a pilot program to bring some standing-only cars to the L train and Times Square shuttle
>The creation of a public dashboard "just like CompStat" to measure performance and repair progress
>An end to prerecorded "train traffic ahead" announcements, to be replaced with "clearer and more timely" explanations for delays
>An increased police presence in stations and additional enforcement of quality of life offenses such as littering
>The addition of 20 prepositioned emergency subway car response teams at 12 locations throughout the system to address repairs immediately
>An increase in the frequency of station cleanings to every four weeks, up from every six weeks
>The placement of EMTs near stations that host lines that frequently deal with sick passengers
>The deployment of 2,700 additional personnel dedicated to fulfilling Lhota's short term plan
Um, okay. How are standing only cars even legal with the ADA?
1. The ADA is horseshit anyways
2. Standing only trains do not mean no more trains with chairs
3. How is a packed train handicapped accessible in the first place
4. MTA, like most half decent but cucked transit systems, has a transit service for people that can't use the subway system
5. Neck yourself
>Um, okay. How are standing only cars even legal with the ADA?
Cripples can go on regular cars. I'm up for any change that relieves congestion on the L train. There's usually a good chance I simply won't be able to get on because it's so packed.
>>1094014
>not doing this for the 4 and 5
L children have it so good. Plenty of room. Bring it to a line that needs it.
What type of bottom bracket do I need for this frame (2013 SE quad fix)? Online it says 73mm but there's no threading. Pls help
>>1093485
It takes a mid bottom bracket which is press fit. They're commonly used on BMXs, never seen them used on other types of frames before.
>>1093488
Thanks, I'll look for one of those. Makes sense as I see it being referred to as a bmx frame everywhere despite it being 700c.
>>1093489
SE is a BMX company so I guess it makes sense, they can use the same BB shells as their BMX frames and the same cranks if they sell complete bikes.
Hey /n/iggas of /n/!
Want a Narrow Gauge thread?
If so let's start a damn good one!
I can get a lesson for $50 at a pretty sweet mountain bike park nearby. Are these kinds of things worth it? I'd mostly like to work on my jumping, cornering, and technical ability (read: go fast all the time). Is this pretty lame? Like should I just chill out and let my skills develop naturally through riding more or is there a consensus about how worthwile actual "training" sessions are?
Just to give a basic overview of my skills, I've been doing it for a couple weeks regularly, and can hit small jumps and turns at pretty ok speed, but i'm just wanting to get better.
>>1092468
No. Go and ride with bros. They will teach you young padowan
some people just have 'it.' No one taught the motherfucker youll pay 50 bucks.
If your hand eye coordination sucks, then just work within your limits. Dont try to be the guy, just have fun self-improving.
>>1092590
>Dont try to be the guy, just have fun self-improving.
This is okay, but
>some people just have 'it.'
is kind've not even slightly true.
The Guy got to be The Guy by failing about a trillion times. The Guy has some godamn insight to impart from that experience, and can save the OP a few millions fails of his own.
>>1092468
A second set of eyes is always valuable. $50 is a very small price to pay to find out how valuable that particular second set of eyes is.
Skills clinics and coaching are very important for progression at mountain biking. You can certainly learn without them, but you will git gud much faster with guidance.
