Hey /n/
What is your opinion on Bianchi bikes?
I really like their celeste paintjob.
Bianchis are as good as any other bike that doesn't fall apart after 2 weeks of use
Probably my favorite brand for history and that famous celeste paint. Even the name is cool. Never owned one though.
price/performance wise theyre shit.
Right or left.

None, stuff it in your cycling jersey. If you don't wear jerseys, get a panier with an ortlieb bag.

hi,
i've really been into bike racing and shit for the last few months. my current bike is a hybrid, trek 7.3. i don't have the money to get a road bike as i just got this one before i knew the fucking difference between a hybrid and road. how can i make the most out of this bike without spending too much money?

Put drop bar then learn how to be a good cyclist with any kind of bike.
Put 23-25c tyres on it, slam the stem and add bar ends
It won't be road geometry but you'll be able to aero-tuck when you need to.

>i've really been into bike racing and shit for the last few months
Unless you're not in the U.S. and the rules are different where you are, you're not 'into bike racing' for any sort of official, USA Cycling-sanctioned races, because the rules state you must have drop bars, no flat bar bikes allowed, it must be group riding events or gran fondos or other non-racing events.
What you'll have to do to make this actual road-race ready:
o Change the handlebars to drop bars
o (maybe) change the stem
o Change all the controls to drop-bar compatible controls (the thumb controls won't work on drop bars
o Get clipless pedals if you don't already have them
o Get a proper fitting done so you don't end up injuring yourself or wasting energy
..but in the end it's a 25 pound bike, you're likely to get dropped on the climbs, so it's really not worth it. By the time you get it all converted over you'll have spent as much as the bike cost new. You're better off getting an actual road bike. Look on Craigslist for a decent used one and just leave this bike as-is or sell it or something.

Why do people pay so much for Colnago frames, which were built by Italian communists out of old Fiat frames?
all other bikes except the novara gotham I have now don't interest me any longer.
most of them are honestly janky fred sleds from the 90s.
What do these doobywackies do?
yaw stabilization

More vertical tail for when stacking it up on top of the existing structure would be stupid.
when doing extreme high alpha manouvers the rudder can get a lot of turbulent flow from the front of the wind, loosing some control, the stabilizers on the bottom dont have that problem. im not sure if this is the case for this paricular aicraft but for some it is.

Are hub gear equipped bikes any good?
It seems that while in theory they are good because they can shift while stationary, are more weatherproof than a derailleur system with exposed chain and cogs and maybe some other things.
I hear only things about skipping, grinding noises, fucked up hubs and other problems I don't know if hub gears are actually good.
Of course there's A LOT of different models from different manufacturers.
Are there any bad ones or good ones?
I'm looking at a bike with pic related. An alfine 8(but possibly and Alfine 11)hub if i'm feeling fancy
It's hard to tell. High end IG systems like nuvinci, rolhoff, pinion, etc cost so much that is hard to have a fair opinion
People who drop $300 on a hub convince themselves it rules
I see bike tourists hyping rolhiff when they are stuck in Cambodia and it breaks... And the company sends them a new one. Doesn't sound so great to me
I've heard some bad stuff about belt drives on geared hubs due to debris and snow getting between the belt / cogs. I'd stick with a chain if I got one.
Alfine 8 seems to be pretty solid, though big jumps between gears. I've heard of people blowing up Alfine 11 hubs, though that seems to be mostly due to exceeding the recommended ratios trying to get extra low end for mtb / fat biking.

They do?
Does anybody here play train games? They can be either tabletop (e.g. 18XX, Age of Steam, etc. BUT not Ticket to Ride, which is just rummy with a fucking board) or electronic (although - have there been any good one recently? There's Railroad Tycoon, but I've heard the latest iteration sucked. I know of some cheap mass transit sims on GOG, however).
Discuss them here.
i've been looking into Train Fever but I'm worried it won't be worth it
i still play railroad tycoon 3
I still fire up OpenTTD on occasion. The modding capabilities in terms of rolling stock are incredible. One of my fav things to do is to start in the 19th century with omnibuses and then progress through the centuries culminating with extensive tube train networks transporting people at 4000km/hr.
I've seen them on several cx bikes
I think that's a frame pump, familia.
95 percent of the time a Frame pump
Other times, a double top tube, for super fatasses. Think Gargan kind of fat on on a black diamond downhill run.
OK, I know about the "shocks pump", but a """frame pump"""? And how is that supposed to work?
I've posted the bike here before a while back but recently have found all of the pictures I shot of it when I went through the process of restoration and somewhere in between all that shit, racing alley cats in South Florida and drinking like a sailor at pub crawls where I was stupid enough to bring it.
This is the earliest picture of this frame that I have. It was a total mess. At the time I thought it was a 1984 Designer but some careful research later on led me to believe it wasn't.
At the time it would have had a mix-match of the original Shimano 600 and random parts from the junkyard to get it rolling. The whole bike through the entire process of the project was restored by me at Matt's Bicycle Center in Cocoa Beach, which ironically enough this frame may have been originally sold at, Ciocc frames were sold through Ten Speed Drive Imports in the States and this bike shop was called Ten Speed Drive and Irv sold these in his shop, it could have also came from their outlet store in Titusville. I still have a few of the original TSDI stickers I've been hoarding.
At the time I was also big into classic Schwinns, neither of those in the background are classic but I was in the middle of making an adult-size Stingray third from the front.
The story goes, 10 years ago I was contacted by a member of the Freakbike Militia whom I am still part of, about a road bike he found in the trash on the side of the road, thinking nothing of it I headed south and grabbed it at our December ride. Hey, free bicycle, right?
After some research on the frame I realized what I had and began working on it. It went from a pile of parts to a working bicycle in a few hours and about 100 bucks.
Grip tape and 7 speed SIS with indexed downtubes. I wished I had held on to most of these parts as it got upgraded.
New job meant new toys. This would have been 2008 where the bike really started to take shape
Do you bring your bike inside with you when you go to the grocery store?

Lock it up, people will get mad at you if you bring your bike inside because the tires have been in the dirty street.
No.

I bet they're heavy as fuck and the ride quality will be shit.
>>1024727
if you ride off a curb every bone in your body will shatter.
I've ridden bikes with these sort of tires before. They're awful.
Tubeless tires and tires with kevlar belts in them already fixed this problem. Without the loss in grip, comfort, rolling resistance, etc.

Who else is gearing up for an iron distance tri next year? First one?
Am currently going for my 3rd full distance and trying to break 9:30. Swimming and running is going okay but will need a lot of work on my bike during the off season.
No one else in long-distance tri?
Go away smelly trifag
I ride my bicycle in the upright position for the purpose of transportation.
