Post your last five ratings, talk about your accounts, be autistic, etc.
i miss lammergeier
went with a normie friend and desu it was a decent show
if i were 13 again i definitely would have lost my shit there
also the drones tracks weren't too different from their other tracks live, so there weren't any cringy moments, as to what I expected
What should I do with my free copy of drones?
Going full sperg in 2016 by listen to everything I come across and making a really shitty list of them. Looking for anything from 2016 so far.
Oh, also looking for more friends!
That's not possible you liar
Stigg of the Dump's flow is shitty
Hey friends! Add me xP

Old fuddy duddy with no taste
If you want a recommendation I will gladly recommend you Long Season. If you've already listened to it listen to it again.
Feel free to recc me albums other than Long Season though :3
He enjoys a lot of music actually, most of the stuff he's rated. He just has a unique profile and rating system though, but isn't a pretentious fuck like AntiWarhol
Read this: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/SellMeAGod/why_i_rate__a_word_about_thee_benefits_of_a_positive_rating_model/
>Hates someone for their lexicon
He has better reviews and a much better curve than anyone on this shitty website.
Grampus doesn't like music, he just reviews every album he can find from like three genres and nothing else. His taste is literally ctrl + c ctrl + v of Rolling Stone.
antiwarhol plays the violin and has comprehensive knowledge of violin music in all styles. he's also heard more free improv than literally anyone else on the site. what's wrong with him enjoying a pretty innovative timbral study on violin / a pretty cutting edge piece of improv?
What is the cutest movie you have ever watched?
explore genres/scenes thoroughly instead of finding a couple token artists & letting them be the end-all-be-all. it shows, and it's why most people either have canon taste or /mu/ taste. but at the same time, judging music from the perspective of one type of music (whether it's metal, classical, pop, etc) is bias. "this pop doesn't measure up to what makes a metal album good, so it's shit" is the cause of a lot of dumbfuckery, but the mindset extends to "this electronic music doesn't measure up to what makes my indie rock albums good." your consistency for one type of music shouldn't fuck you over for other types of music. and if i ask you what your choices for the best albums have in common and you can't say anything other than "they're famous" or "i like them," you're bad at critical thinking.
I agree mostly with this, actually.
I have a consistant bias towards thematic shit and albums with continuity, but judge it from mostly a rock and instrumental point of view.
But if you judge everything with its relation to one genre, you're either retarded like Grampus or autistic Fastro
No, seriously, look at this: https://rateyourmusic.com/~fastro
i just got the impression that if i sent a classical, folk, electronic, or etc etc album your way, you wouldn't know what to do with it.
i'm offended that you'd think that. xusosis literally listens to random albums with zero context and judges them based on who-fucking-knows, resulting in his ratings looking totally random (which is what he wants)
He reviews mostly prog because that's what he likes, but his rating system literally says the best of pop music is on the same level as the worst prog music.
And those Dream Theater ratings lmao
That's exactly what I said, my guy. I said I have a bias towards rock music mostly, but thanks for the unnecessary condescending comment :)
Agreed. I admire a lot about him, but kind of want to know if he's actually autistic.
if i had known that my spelling of certain words would lead to death threats on me (and my children!), multiple dozens of homophobic insults, spam attacks, and hate from anonymous 4-chan types on various unaffiliated forums...if i had known all of this, i may have decided it wasn't worth it.
he has extreme tokenism though. he'll randomly cling to one or three artists from a quirky genre but can't actually waste his precious time learning about where they came from or what might be similar. he finds more enjoyment in finding random one-offs than learning about or actually appreciating music. he is actually pretty new to music too
Lillian Gish is pretty cute but as far as racist DW Griffith silent films go I think she was the cutest in Broken Blossoms.
I'd like to erase Jack Nance's head if you know what I mean.
Is this actually TheHorbgorbler? If not, where's this pic from?
it also seems like he enjoys making charts with cool looking / obscure album art than listening. people who are aware that sticking to the canon is stupid, but answer that problem by ignoring important/significant/influential artists... are just as stupid. it actually seems like laziness, the desire to affect deep knowledge by having uncommon favorites without having to actually get through all the common releases before digging deeper. in other words, if you start at the bottom of the rabbit hole, it looks like you worked your way all the way down (even though you didn't.)
I'm not sending the dude death threats, I've posted how much I don't like his ratings in exactly one thread.
I just think it's weird you're posting on the music board of an imaged-based website designed to talk about cartoons made for Japanese eight year-olds that someone's taste on a music categorizing and rating website has better ratings of music than other users on said site.
>Remko Scha - Machine Guitars (3.5)
>Fra Lippo Lippi - In Silence (3.0)
>Primal Scream - Screamadelica (2.5)
>David Bowie - [Blackstar] (4.0)
>Haust - Bodies (2.5)
God everything sucks
>Ennio Morricone - The Hateful Eight (4.0)
>The Grand Budapest Hotel (4.0)
>Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto - The Revenant (3.0)
>Hawkwind - Warrior On The Edge Of Time (4.0)
>Big Trouble In Little China (3.0)
I'm gonna replace that avatar at some point with one that has his eyes looking back-and-forth and the viewer.
also I forgot to mention but what.cd and allmusic are fantastic sites to discover music that's similar to stuff you already like, guys.
>The Sarkeesian Effect: Inside the World of Social Justice Warriors
did you ever come upon his profile when he first joined? most of those albums were anything but a 1.0.
I imagine he stumbled upon spectres profile a little too soon and decided to go for a similar false, pathetic persona, like so many other users as of late. but it's cool to like trashy rap still!!
he's posted here before too, just search the archive.
cuz I'm a humanitarian and I believe in helping the less fortunate :+)
i need a rym buddy to hang out with on the internet today
goddamnit i am bored and lonely
I know, that's probably him himself who is consistently posting that.
Who is it then
it's the new bandwagon
(all these profiles belong to the same person, claiming to be 26)
the majority are different people, they're just drones of spectres/antigona, and users like puntugruhm are perfect examples of this.
What would those be? meme/shitposter fucks obviously from here who ask for it in the first place?
Those are allowed, as long as they have the correct opinons and type in obnoxious pseudo-ironic ways (lowercase except Random Capitalization, completely contentless posts). Also completely derailing threads with opinions they don't like until a mod locks it without punishing them.
Shit like this will get you banned, while crystalbird gets away with shitting up the whole site.
btw my double bell rating curve is objectively the best on rym desu
Why? Just to meme?
learn how to separate the artist from the art cuz they both made amazing music despite being terrible people
just listen to the alchemist of pop and back to mono and you'll know what I mean
intuitive displacement in people genocide when ?
>Disco Demolition Night was perpetrated by thousands of rabid white working-class Reagan voters who felt threatened by an artform for queer, black, and latino kids
I don't have music I dislike, so everything is a 5/10 or more to me. Because of this, it's more useful to use the full scale instead of just half of it.
I don't think it's that bad, honestly, but it's a bit weird. May as well just go for a full positive rating scale cuz unless you're on some euphoric drug 24/7 I don't see how it's possible to not dislike or 'hate' some music out there. it doesn't really matter but I'm in the mood to talk today.
>I don't have music I dislike
I guess that settles that then. keep doing your thing dude
he only has like 500 ratings so it's not a big deal at all. quit your bitching and maybe read up more on how rym's weighting system works.
I don't care for much emo but I absolutely adore moss icon so listen to them dude
they're kinda like a post-hardcore and emo hybrid of joy division if you're into them
I'm not. My ratings just weight a little bit more than the average. And my rating system is not retarded. The bottom row still represents the kind of music I like the least.
All users have the same weight unless they have less than 50 ratings or so or use a system like only 5/0.5
you're very welcome! yea theres some very nice post-hardcore out there. if you want straight energetic guitar shit listen to drive like jehu, or if you just want something to chill to listen to June of 44 and of course leaves turn inside you by unwound. I don't recommend starting with leaves if you want to get into unwound's music though personally, best to start chronologically with them. gorgeous band, makes me really happy to see how popular they've become on this board these past few years.
>All users have the same weight unless they have less than 50 ratings or so or use a system like only 5/0.5
dammit avant-math I was trying to make him feel better
no that's not even close to what I was saying wtf lmao
honestly if you need this to be explained to you then you have bigger problems than me and whoever that guy is combined.
There are many things I want to say about certain regulars in these threads.
I like gothic and industrial music. Always willing to give and receive recs
also, I'm still happy about how hard the Panthers fucked the Cardinals this Sunday.
