saw them live at ? festival thing in chicago. pitchfork probably. it was without a doubt the worst experience of my entire life.

gimme some huge head phones and some alone time and yeah, AC is awesome.

this sort of music, imo, is just not meant to be enjoyed live... especially not outside in some park

I'm an AnCo casual. I appreciate the complexity of their discography in terms of how their fans view it, and I can't say I share the same overall passion. However, Feels was a ridiculous wake-up call. I'd listened to MPP and SJ (both mediocre overall with some great songs) and Sung Tongs (good reprieve) before.

Damn. Im got tickets to see them in febuary and I am kinda worried now it could suck. From videos ive seen they seem kinda hit or miss live and some of their songs dont seem to translate well. I also have nobody to go with because all my friends hate anco. One of my them saw them at bonnaroo and told me they sucked but he was really sure what to expect anyway.

Anyone have some positive live experinces with animal collective?

I've seen em twice, both great but I'm also pretty familiar with their discography. I think a lot of people walk away from their shows not liking them in part because a) they didn't recognize the old songs because they change them up or b) because they play new stuff.

If you know all their stuff or are open to stuff you haven't heard you'll have a great time. I've never seen a bad performance video.

I saw them live on the first tour after cHZ, and felt it was 7-8/10 performance. Saw them a year later and it was honestly a 10/10 live experience with an insane setlist stretching deep, they totally were feeding off the crowds hyped energy as well.
