i legit think those bands have more focused songwriting, more memorability, and more emotional resonance than DT ever did

DT can't do choruses well, and their songs meander. Agora are a lot more concise and manage some very powerful choruses.

within DT's style of prog metal I also feel that Lemur Voice, Sun Caged, Suspyre, Thessera, and a few other bands have surpassed them in some way or another, and that's not getting into stuff like prog/power (where Angra, Maestrick and Alhambra kick DT's ass no contest) or prog/extreme or whatever other prog subgenre you care to mention (where I much prefer Gonin-ish, Unexpect, Thought Industry, Depressive Age, Dir en Grey, etc.)

Really I&W is just unremarkable to me, I don't see what about it warrants classic status. the lame sax part on Another Day is also legit awful

Even for atmoshit it's missing stuff like Burzum, Emperor, and Ulver. It's a decent chart for if you want to explore black metal beyond entry and sub-entry level (mainly the atmospheric stuff), but for someone new to black metal it's missing way too much key stuff. Maybe for the rest of /mu/ it'd be okay since "weird" black metal is the only kind of metal /mu/ hipsters will admit they like.

Adramelech's riffs feel a lot less liquid than Demilich's do, and I get the same very bold solidity from Chthe'ilist's riffs. They accent things a lot more aggressively than Demilich. Calling it Nespithe 2 is a bit reductive.
