There's a good series of albums on JVC called "Music of Polynesia", five volumes in total, which sounds legit to my ears. There's an album on Nonesuch "South Pacific Island Music" which should be related to your interests as well.

World music generally includes any music that is made outside of the anglosphere and Europe. Traditional would refer to any music that is transmitted orally, including the anglosphere and European.

Not to worry, people use the terms interchangeably. Another good term to consider is regional music, which to me means any music that is unique to a local area, but not necessarily traditional music, and can still be made in euranglo. To me, this is a better term than world music because it is more encompassing.

Last book I read was Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. Definitely recommend this book. Especially if you're into humanitarian work.
