Let's talk about black metal bands today who are making real black metal. Real black metal would be, mayhem before euronymous died, for example. I think examples of real black metal today would be dodsengel, beketh nexehmu, jute gyte. Bands that are not in it for show, but for embracing the serious nature of black metal. Too often in black metal today, we see people destroying the scene by making black metal about putting on a show, something euronymous would be been outraged over.
Divine Blasphemy - Beyond The Portal (no bullshit gimmicks is like Blaze era Darkthrone and Greek Black Metal)
Dark Fury - Synningthwait (polish black metal that's all about the riffs)
Sammath - Godless Arrogance (Pure Holocaust on steroids)
fuck off and die. thanksies :3
Here you go. Blodsgard makes real black-metal with a proper philosophical backbone. Not that I've any clue what you think is the "serious nature of black-metal".
>Too often in black metal today, we see people destroying the scene by making black metal about putting on a show, something euronymous would be been outraged over.
This better be trolling. Euronymous knew how to make fucking amazing riffs, but he was a complete tool. He was ALL about putting on a show. His only desire was to shock and be more extreme than others by image alone. The dude joined a norwegian "red youth" political party purely because of their support of known genociders like Lenin and Mao. Varg killed him in self-defense and should never have been punished for it. Euronymous was a git.
if we're going by your stands, real black metal would be all of those South American bands that were just making really fucked up metal.
Even Mayhem before Euronymous died would be considered too much of "putting on a show" with all of Dead's crazy ass live antics.
Let's talk about dimjun bands today who are making the real shit. Real poo man, would be, macho before anonymous died, for example. I think examples of real dungo today would be doddin, betsy necus, flute loot. Bands that are not in it for SHOW but for EMBRACING good nature hard poo. Too often in carl soundd today, we see people destroying the scene by making quack about putting on, something Jim would be been outraged over.
i dont know if youve heard these guys, they're pretty obscure
probably the most legit black metal band out there nowadays desu
You mean it doesn't sound like Venom? Then yeah, no, not very true. Since you think all black-metal should have a raw, lo-fi sound that is harsh just because its less processed you probably just mistake "well" produced for "too well" produced. In terms of riffing, lyrics, vocal style, songwriting, Blodsgard is actually rather generic and true to old school norwegian formulas. Not that it being norwegian makes it more true just based on that fact. As for the album cover, it's fine. Who cares about album covers anyway?
Saw them live. Performance was hypnotic and not too showy. No antics on stage barring hiding their faces which was kinda amusing cause they did the sound check without their oantyhose or whatever that cloth is called.
>posting pre-2015 mgla
you're alright, i like you
It's pretty well known that if you consider Mayhem in any way to be the pinnacle of black metal you are fronting hard. Mayhem isn't terrible but they're overrated, you're probably more in it for the spectacle than for the genre.
Go back and listen to Bathory, Darkthrone, Burzum, and early Immortal again, than expand from there.
mgla's got fuck-all in common with dissection aside from the melodic edge of their music
mgla is way more rigid and monolithic than dissection, very linear and stripped down, and their melodies are more streamlined and effective than dissection's
sargeist's got fuck-all in common with darkthrone, period
