Hoping for a sample song soon.
who /SLAM/ here?
How do I into death metal,I only like a few albums of the many I have tried listening. The rest just bore me to death.
Well,im still listening to essential shit, but the only ones I like a lot are like an everflowing strea, obscura, some stargazer shit, and musta seremonia. And idk why I liked them because all of them are so different sounding.
Try these out
Demilich - Nespithe
Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes
Septicflesh - Mystic Places of Dawn
Hieronymous Bosch - The Human Abstract
Korpse - Pull The Flood
Edge of Sanity - Unorthodox
Mordicus - Dances From the Left
Zealotry - The Charnel Expanse
Howls of Ebb - Vigils of the 3rd Eye
Slam is hipster repellent, the only genre hipsters like less is glam, step it up. No one is impressing girls with original Dokken vinyl or their extensive wigger slam collection
Let's stop being faggots for a second and talk abou how dope the new (well, ''new'' shit is from 2014) EP from Contrastic is? Like holy fuck i may like it even more than their self titled
based banjo slam
That guy is fucking terrible. Not even because of the deathcore thing but in general, if you hear him growl without using studio magic he sounds nothing like he does on his albums. Everyone in Infant Annihilator sucks in general, Aaron only has speed going for him as a drummer and their guitarist is sloppy as fuck. Fuck all the people here that constantly fanwank this band
nstrumentation is alright but the vocals sound like an angry german dude reprimanding his daughter for dropping her ice cream cone on the ground in a spaztic yell
if hitler listened to music this would definitely be on his itunes celebrity playlist
ebert and roeper give this 1 thumb up, one "wtf" and the fat cancer dude yelled from his hospital bed "THIS ISN'T ART!"
He has a ton of distortion on his voice, which isn't really uncommon, but it kinda ruins any argument for him as a good vocalist, but deathcore dudes seem to think he's the gold standard for lows. Super overrated for sure
>the vocals sound like an angry german dude reprimanding his daughter for dropping her ice cream cone on the ground in a spaztic yell
they sound slav as fuck though, and that's the whole appeal, it's even better with the lyrics
p sure Hitler would find the most well know slav tech deathgrind band disgusting
>ebert and roeper give this 1 thumb up, one "wtf" and the fat cancer dude yelled from his hospital bed "THIS ISN'T ART!"
"This is disgusting, it's pornography" exclaimed a pasty slug-like woman in a fur coat, vanilla ice-cream smeared across her double chin like a money shot
>Severed Survival > SBG
same level of outdated and boring
>Consvming Impvlse > Leprosy
They're on the same level of goodness IMO
>Considered Dead > Spiritual Healing
>Unq. Presents > Human
Are Swallow the Sun atmoshit?
What is some good melodic doom in similar style?
I used to think like you. Then one day I realized Autopsy is actually really good.
Considered Dead is also underrated here. It's everything about early Death but done better. Except the production, which is likely why most don't give it a fair chance.
the guitar tone has really weak attack. needs to be crunchier
sounds like archspire with slightly less sterile production otherwise. fucking cool cover though and i have to admit that bass slide is dank as fuck
>I'm a melodeath man myself. Slaughter of the Soul, the Jester Race, With Oden on Our Side, I could go on
Not true but even then Autopsy aren't a riff-centric band, they create doomy graves and bass lines that mix well with the vocals, they're a mood-driven band and they do damn well at being that. Let me guess, you think Into Darkness by Winter is a bad album for the same reasons too?
why do you care who listens to [genre of music]? it's all music, i enjoy slam despite the fanbase being mostly dumb deathcore dudebros and wiggers and i enjoy some of the so called ''hipster'' music
just stop being so focused on image you idiots
If they consider something like Veil of Maya a guilty pleasure from when they were 15 or something then sure, but I don't think many hipsters are watching videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB1Pk8ANuUE to find bands
If you could erase a musician from history, who would it be?
I'd kill Kai Hansen's mother Terminator style. Power Metal, especially USPM, was fucking awesome before that cocksucking german turned it into the most generic, cheesy and uncreative subgenre of metal.
Is slam even really wiggers/dudebros anymore? It seems like a super self-aware genre that's just dudes writing dumb heavy music. Same thing as every teenager who would of been in a Suicide Silence ripoff band in 07 is now making downtempo because it's easy to mosh to
that's like one of my fav power metal albums lmao (then again i'm not power metal fan)
i'd probably kill everyone in Dream Theater, they just fucked up (and i mean FUCK UP) the prog genre and fanbase in one fell swoop
>implying this won't be AOTY that makes prog metal great again
So I've never really listened to Dream Theater extensively, but do his vocals always sound this weird? Sounds like they put every effect they could on it with completely random presets
if you have a fantasy where the 2 girls lez out i guess it could be a decent video
otherwise it's the music equivalent of getting a titjob by a very rusty sexbot so damaged that said tits are mostly just metal shards
oh yeah but you find it expecially on the internet in communities filled with social outcasts. somethingawful is also like that and their ivory-tower superiority complex only makes them more obsessed with hating everyone that isn't them
That's not how you spell Heaven & Hell. Iommi really outdid himself on some of those solos I find. The ones in H&H, Neon Knights, Children of the Sea and Lonely is the word. Especially Lonely is the word, holy jesus just have a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MImX27J8wkg
Their "drumming" is still sorta stupid, but it seems to be the point. Know of any similar bands? Brutal, yet occasionally groovy shit that are only instrumentals or dont have the damned burping or pig grunting vocals.
Honestly they're kinda in a field of their own for their take on ridiculous deathcore, I'd try out the instrumental version of HLB's s/t though. If you've heard Vildhjarta take that and make it more -core and you're pretty much there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlAQL1rO3-Y
Iommi, Geezer and Ward never ceased being able to make good music, I think, along with Ozzy, Dio, Ian. The Mob Rules being their last really great album for me, I do enjoy most if not all of their later stuff. They just cant be as good as all the ones before that. Of the Ozzy albums Technical Ecstacy is the only one that never got me. That one just doesnt do anything for me, but the ones after Mob Rules I quite can dig.
Hey guys, maybe it's not the right palce to ask, but: Does anyone know any metal band that, nowadays is making something different? I've been into metal for over 20years, but these last like 10 years i've never heard a band that doesn't sound like a clone of the old ones. Last time the scene changed for good imo was in the early 90's, with black metal, but after that no one has innovated.. at least that i know.
They're pretty good, same-y but if you're into that Vildhjarta sound there's not a whole lot available. I thought djentspammer just posted stuff like Circle of Contempt but maybe he had some decent shares too I dunno
have some black pink floyd metal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYT1QTPZrxI
Well there's djent, a genre most say was started by a bang called Meshuggah. Youve also got crazy stuff like slam and deathcore, post black-metal, drone doom, fuck if i know. Youve got almost all sorts of crazy merging of genres. I don't know how much you know about new types of metal. Folk-metal could be foreign to you for all I know.
I dunno, you could check out some bands like Vektor, Beyond Creation, Wintersun.
More stuff in that vein of djent/deathcore since it's my favorite style, for more groovy stuff I'd check out some of the 4 billion 1 man bandcamp projects out there, Nott is pretty good downtempo-ish stuff but they have meh vocals
Not terrible, just not very interesting either, same deal as Northlane
Jute Gyte do really dissonant microtonal black metal, he's got fuckloads of albums.
Thy Catafalque make post-black metal with classical and folk influences, they recently put out a new album called Sgurr.
Full of Hell are doing super noisey grindcore, they have a collab album with Merzbow and are soon to release one with The Body.
northlane don't have those synths or that sense of melody
um vektor are a deliberate throwback band and BC don't do anything later Death didn't
post albums/bands you hated upon first listen but now you absolutely love
It was my first extreme metal album
Oh that's you, I'm surprised you like that EP. Doesn't have any more melody than any random bandcamp djent band, and the synth work is bland. It's like the worst parts of Periphery I mixed with the worst parts of The Discovery.
>IT'S LITERALLY JUST NOISE
-me when I heard it once
that feel when having a nostalgia trip, and it's just as good as you remember it
LIKE A WOLF
IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING
YOU TRY TO HIDE YOUR DEEPEST SINS
which maiden album is best? I say piece of mind, killers or somewhere in time
I got you covered
>Humanity's Last Breath- s/t
>Deathcore, djent, "ambidjent" if you wanna really meme
>rec'd for fans of Vildhjarta
Should I only have one game per series? Anything I should add or remove?
not the guy you responded to but rofl wow i checked out TOOHs "Democratic Solution", what in the name of the fuckest fuck is this fucking shit? never heard anything like it, no idea what to think. I have no choice but to keep listening though.
dude i have no idea why i like it, especially since Artifacts in Motion is hilariously unfocused, but the buildup to the solo on Entwine the Threads, and the string-bend riff of To Entitle Vacancy, are super satisfying for some reason
i can be super irrational about what i like or don't like sorry ;s
yeah, that album is notable because Humanoid was diagnosed with schizophrenia while recording it, which means you're listening to that
It has a lot of the more normal (although they were always really fucking weird) elements like tech deathgrind song writing, but it has an absolutely bizarre tone, as it sounds like it's being played through a sega genesis, plus the vocals don't even give a shit about the music and just ramble on about shit without even trying to sync with the music
and the lyrics themselves are batshit, specially on that record (they were always crazy)
it's a must listen for fans of avant-garde, since it's the mean, death metal equivalent of Daniel Johnston
if the person is into dark ambient then sure
didnt sound like english singing, what are the lyrics about? I just heard some singing that could sound like a national anthem or something. the work of a schizo crazyperson huh? shit thats fucking metal i guess. reminds me of that one black-metal band that claimed to have vocal tracks of the screams of mentally deranged individuals from inside insane asylums. forget what they were called.
That slow down to the end in Rudy X3 gets me everytime, I know what you mean. Dysphoria are good too, I'd check out Horror Of Pestilence btw if you haven't heard them since they seem up your alley
>what are they about
sexual obscenities 99% of the time, but not in that goregrind sense, more in a slav makes action movie porn kind of way
>reminds me of that one black-metal band that claimed to have vocal tracks of the screams of mentally deranged individuals from inside insane asylums. forget what they were called.
add mount & blade
i think seventh son of a seventh son is their best, with somewhere in time as a close second
fuck, wrong image
>can't do cardio
>can't do bodyweight routine because no room to do pullups or rows
metal for this feel please
post brutal shit
how long does it take to learn how to play guitar to the point where I can play black metal or slam competently?
what about learning how to record shit properly and use a drum machine?
i fucking need this man
learn how to tremolo pick and some basic scales and music theory online
learn how to palm mute, make sure your 7 guitar has pickups that can handle low tuning, palm mute 0 and 1 repeatedly
>record shit properly and use a drum machine?
i actually don't like attilla don't group me in with him
posting essential downtempo and cuckcore
>snowed all night last night
>backyard snow's all the way up to window height
>went outside and shoveled a path to my front door from the sidewalk and did the same for my neighbor because she's old and i felt kind of guilty
>that was hours ago
>it's still fucking snowing
>will continue to snow throughout the night
german black metal, some emotional some cheesy
No because Rise of the Northstar is actually a good band.
This is the difference:
>Make fun of ROTN when you see them posted in /metal/
>go to their music video to laugh at it
>laugh at it
>later you are nodding your head to one of their riffs and saying the chorus
>listen to it again
It is at this point that the Furyo style has been awakened in you, and you found in your mind your Saiyan rage
Compared to Attila:
>make fun of Attila
>listen to Attila to listen to it
>can't even get 30 seconds into any of their songs
>continue making fun of Attila
This is exactly how I came to love ROTN
>think they're just a bunch wigger weebs annoying some japs in their music video
>begin to realize their riffs are awesome
>sudden urge to windmill around the room
>have the first major snowstorm this year here
>"shit, I hope this doesn't interfere with the show tomorrow..."
>Deafheaven is cancelled tomorrow
OF ALL THE FUCKING TIMES TO HAVE A BLIZZARD
if you want some loose your shit music check these niggas out
and then this crazy shit, featuring WTC
I was just paying a visit
Why would anyone care about reputation on an anonymous forum on the first place?
But no, I'm genuinely curious as to why I supposedly "ruin" /prog/ threads.
New list, I think this is pretty fucking good.
