Thread for those who've advanced past /mu/core, p4k BNM and the same old. For those who've...
a) been listening to music seriously for 5+ years
b) with musical training and regularly perform music
Don't be offended, this is not meant to be pretentious, its just some of us have moved past the general essentials, p4k BNM and the latest hype album and have more developed tastes. No /mu/core, BNM, Fantanocore or chart music allowed. Do not troll or derail the thread with off-topic discussion.
What music have you been enjoying lately?
I guess I'll start off. Do you guys like or ever heard of Mae Shi? I like them especially Terrorbird and Heartbeeps.
>this is not meant to be pretentious
>its just some of us have...more developed tastes
For fuck's sake. What if someone genuinely enjoys something considered /mu/core? They have "underdeveloped" taste because the album also happens to get shitposted on a Cantonese cartoon imageboard? Get off your high horse.
listening to a lot of the albums Papa Jo Jones, Art Blakey, and Max Roach are on. From there I'll move onto Elvin then go Tony and into the progressive/fusion era with Jack Billy Vinny etc
Outside of listening to music to study drummers I've been listening to contemporary gospel music, some contemporary jazz, some death grips every now and again, and yesterday I listened to that opeth album pale communion. It's alright I guess. A lot of Tony Williams Lifetime, Weather Report, Mike Mitchell's band Raché which released an album called Wifi. It's pretty sweet.
Going to watch Don Byron play with his gospel quartet tonight and then practice the rest of the evening.
>What/who are they like?
They're what you call an experimental rock band from the mid-2000s which consists from 4 guys. I can't describe their music honestly, I wouldn't do them justice. If you want a better more in-depth analysis who the fuck they are I suggest reading the LONG essay down on the middle of their BC page.
Have you heard this before, my dude?
If you enjoy the Dead C you might enjoy this

Btw Soused is a fucking amazing album
Mike Mitchell is currently my favorite drummer. Tony, Dennis, DeJohnette, Cobham, Lenny, Eric Harland, Chris Dave, Thomas Pridgen, Ronald Bruner Jr, Chris Coleman, Dan Mayo, Antonio Sanchez, literally too many to name.
What are /advanced/'s thoughts on pic related?
So if PC music was the next step after Vaporwave, what's comes after PC music?
