Well you're not wrong, stuff like Down With The Sun proves they can still crank out amazing stuff.

The issue is they're usually nowhere near as consistent or cohesive as ATWW when it comes to the whole album.
That and shit like their latest really does just feel like melodeath for the masses, with very very few tracks shining as the Insomnium that blew everyone's minds in 2006.

A friend of mine thought at it was a shame the songs didn't last longer. I guessed what he was trying to say is that the band didn't fully developped the atmosphere and texture.

I kind of agree with him, but I thought it was great despite that. For example, the voice samples are thoughtfully put, in a way that you don't hear often (or that I've haven't heard much at least). It's a small thing, but it struck me as pretty inventive on their part.

yeah, being able into czech is definitely something you need to fully enjoy the album
i mean you can always just look the translated lyrics up in case they're laying around somewhere but you'll never get "Lexikon", which is my favorite song off the album, unless you have basic czech vocabulary and know some of the rules making the language what it is
czech language is incredibly flexible but very little to no music artists use it to its full potential

As one who has derided the djent scene for years and years as being utter trash, it almost pains me to admit just how much I adore the massive, unforgiving Meshuggah groove this song has. It's so blatantly djent, but it's done with skill and execution that djent bands could only dream of. Add on the towering chorus, the brilliantly left-field synth parts and the almost black metal chords and this is one of the best things Meshuggah ever can claim influence on.
