certified ubermensch patrician with unique and great taste, permission to brag about their music taste at anytime
>4.0 and below
literal subhuman plebeian human garbage who should leave our board ASAP
>Has beatles, beach boys, death grips, the caretaker, earl sweatshirt, grimes, weezer, wilco, the war on drugs, led zeppelin, modest mouse, radiohead. All in 5stars
Jeez I feel bad for this kid
Yeah, okay, kid.
>marcel ranks your favorite album 5/5 stars
>in the court of the crimson king
>in the wake of poseidon
they're literally the same album but the tracks are ~5% worse (except in the wake of poseidon, which is better than epitaph). how can people rate them so differently?
It's BECAUSE it's literally the same; I would rate them almost exactly the same. Why would I want to hear a slightly worse version of a good album if I can listen to the good album?
because even though they sound similar the songs have their own qualities which make them shine in their own way and you want to hear different things sometimes
and there's cat food which is nothing like itcotck
the only music critic I would ever be interested in the opinions of would be someone that had never listened to or read any criticism before in his life, and then you sat him down and made him listen to 15,000 records of the highest selling albums of all time
>its very emotional and intimate because the artist was sad
>therefore its good
The mountain goats, akron/family and horse museum, I know the're not by any means anything special but I'm impressed he hasn't reviewed anything by them.
Also if you want a good fucking laugh check out the folk category it's a fucking disgrace.
post your favorite terrible marcel ratings
none of these albums should be below a 4
I am honestly astounded by how shit his taste is
some of his shit taste was mildly forgivable but I've never seen something this wrong
Fucking pleb, this album is perfect.
Nothing because it's pretty much a perfect alternative rock album
I wouldn't call it the best of the 80s myself despite my adoration of it, but tryhards and losers who don't understand context think it's nothing special
This one is just confusing. It's the only Yes release he's ever reviewed too.
>This fucking faggot thinks New Day Rising is just as good as Zen Ardace
Considering Marcel's estranged from his father, this possibility is especially hilarious.
Yeah, he's a cookie cutter ambient "musician", that puts literally no work into his music other than Paulstretching shit.
oh shit, it looks like he's deleted it. https://marcelfoley.bandcamp.com/album/the-dream
He spammed it a lot tho, so it's probably still in the archives.
"The dream" is actually just a slowed down sigur ròs song, I don't know which one because I don't listen to them though.
he has all of hitler's speeches rated at 0.5 stars
Everyone knows Hitler was bad
There is literally no point in rating his speeches .5 stars, especially considering the fact that he didn't even listen to them
It doesn't prove anything, it's just stupid
I don't know who this little prick is, but I don't like him.
Now I can rest easy knowing that OPN has good taste in anime, and not Marcel, who just dickrides OPN to the point of claiming his music as his own.
>Marcel got my RYM account banned because I gave his shitty music shitty reviews
>This has happened to me on 3 separate occasions
Man fuck Marcel
He's done it to me too. I rated his album 1.5/5 after I listened to it because it was just paulstretched post-rock songs and one was literally a whole song lifted from OPN and he reported me for vote brigading.
i don't follow the marcel drama, but someone linked the rym pages for his bands here and it's fun to read the reviews (that haven't been deleted)
>song titles are obvious Caretaker ripoffs
>album title is obvious Swans ripoff
>about a quarter of the songs are randomly mono for no apparent reason (other than likely forgetting to make them stereo before exporting them from Audacity); a looooot of clicks from tracks looping incorrectly (again, an Audacity trait), and generally the sound is muffed and miffed in all sorts of weird ways (intentional or not - it sounds bad).
>while Marcel claims that his songs contain samples of OPN and Mark Isham songs what he actually means to say is that he flat out plagiarized OPN and slightly slowed down a Mark Isham song.
lol he ripped off the name of a BMSR album for a track title
has this kid ever had an original idea in his life? I know he's a teenager, but the average 13 year old making dank beats on soundcloud or covering led zeppelin on youtube has more integrity than him
>this entire thread
Why the actual fuck do people care this much about a teenager
>One Armed Scissor, Hunky Dory & The Inalienable Dreamless all rated 5 stars
they're good albums and I'm surprised that Marcel likes them
>Lonesome Crowded West, Never Were The Way She Was and Deviate From Balance
>reading through the "musicians I've met" list
>he got a kiss on the cheek from Debbie Googe from My Bloody Valentine
>he's met all these people
>he's had all these experiences
>he's like fucking 13
I think I'm going to kill myself. This set me over the edge, /mu/. I don't think there's anything I can do in this world that brings me any joy, and here's a 13 year old who's living my fantasy, basically.
Shit, I remember when I was a middle schooler and took a shitty middle school journalism class and wanted to interview musicians. I daydreamed about that shit. It's coming back to me.
And this kid has it all.
No matter how hard I work, I'll never be him.
