Creation is Crucifixion and Starkweather are two of my all time favorite bands, in any genre. Abnegation was great as well until that shitty full-length. It's a shame that the modern PA hardcore scene doesn't know shit about any of it.

Really? That sucks. I would think that there would be maybe two different scenes one that only cares for scene kid melodic shit the other for the real stuff. Like for example at my college town in Richmond, VA you have a scene for the shitty stuff but also one that knows it's stuff; screamo inspired by City Of Caterpillar; hardcore inspired by Bracewar, etc.
