They got big back then because their mellow acoustic sound and lyrics about Joe DiMaggio appealed to 40 year olds who would have found the Beatles/Hendrix/Stones et al way too...out there.
>>
>>61925151
They were popular before Mrs. Robinson came out though.
>>
>>61925104
oh shit, man, my bad
I don't know wtf i was thinking, maybe man in black
>>
>>61925210
But that was what pushed them over the top.

It's a still life water color,
Of a now late afternoon,
As the sun shines through the curtained lace
And shadows wash the room.
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
The borders of our lives.

And you read your Emily Dickinson,
And I my Robert Frost,
And we note our place with bookmarkers
That measure what we've lost.
Like a poem poorly written
We are verses out of rhythm,
Couplets out of rhyme,
In syncopated time
And the dangled conversation
And the superficial sighs,
Are the borders of our lives.

Yes, we speak of things that matter,
With words that must be said,
"Can analysis be worthwhile?"
"Is the theater really dead?"
And how the room is softly faded
And I only kiss your shadow,
I cannot feel your hand,
You're a stranger now unto me
Lost in the dangling conversation.
And the superficial sighs,
In the borders of our lives.

Simon and Garfunkel were among the first groups I listened to when I started getting into music.

I can't think of a specific album that is better than any other.

If I had to pick, I'd go for the easy choice of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Not Simon and Garfunkel together, but Graceland is a goddamn treat.
>>
>>61925326
Dude, that song is actually pretty heavy. Lyrically, I mean.

The relationship in the song is crumbling.
>>
>>61925399
>Simon and Garfunkel were among the first groups I listened to when I started getting into music

I know, I know. We all browsed our dad's old record collections when we were 11 and...your dad wore a lot of wool and hung out in cafes, didn't he?
>>
Shit. Go listen to something fun like the Stooges if you want dadrock.
>>
I dunno; I can appreciate Dylan, I can't appreciate these faggots. Just look at that album cover. They look so punchable and smarmy.
>>
>>61925326
That's really heavy. I really like the first verse
>>
>>
>>61925487
terminate thyself
>>
>>61925467
Nah, actually for a while he was a mostly mild-mannered dude. Liked the standard classic rock. Then, he fell over and hit his head. Now he can't smell things, works as a band promoter, and likes metal. Also has a really long goatee. And isn't paying squat to help me through college. He also barely ever paid child support.

Still love him as my father though. That's the important stuff.

>>61925487
Listen to Keep The Customer Satisfied. If that's not fun, I don't know what is.
>>
>>61924881
I really really love this album
>>
>>61925530
its such a sweet, sad sounding song. definitely one of my favorites lyrically and probably even overall

It sounds like something John Darnielle of the mountain goats would write around the time of Tallahassee
>>
Their best is bookends, but I've listened to BoTW the most.
They're great, not a bad album in their discog.

Artistically, Bookends is the real deal, matey.

Save The Life Of My Child is wonky as fuuuuck.
>>
>>61925321
nah sound of silence was remixed by a dj and was a #1 hit
>>
>>61925676
It's great. That Moog kills me
That first whole side is a great breakup soundtrack.
>>
>>61925701
>remixed by a dj

I know what you're talking about, but I just imagined the idea of a trap remix of Sound of Silence.
>>
>>61925632

Old Friends is sad as fuck too, fucking beautiful songs.
>>
>>61925727
Nothing like America and Overs. The match lighting at the beginning just makes me picture Paul Simon lighting a cig and just being like fuck it you and I are done
>>
>>61925789
>>61925758
>>61925727
All of this is just reminding me how goddamn wonderful Bookends is Jesus Christ.

Side B is pretty solid too. Hazy Shade of Winter goes hard, my niggas.
>>
>>61925876
Both sides are excellent but side a is just so fucking good. But Mrs. Robinson tho

>>
>>61926491
I know what you mean. It's hard to decide between them all because they all have pretty different styles to them.
>>
>>61924881
weird, was just listening to this album earlier today.

Bookends is for sure my favorite of theirs
