so you mean 99% of any music artist's appeal?
wheres that fat bitch who got 15 minutes of fame for her UK Idol appearance and a bunch of upvotes and likes on social media?
clearly her "music" was the reason she was popular
still but hurt cause you found out claire is the same age as your busted slut larven
dear god no, bowie was working with top tier musicians to build a reputation (Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Klaus Nomi, Queen)
>so you mean 99% of any music artist's appeal?
not all really, artists like Aphex Twin, King Crimson, Godspeed, Boards of Canada for example are examples of musicians/artists that had little to no persona, yet managed to become popular pretty much exclusively because of their music
all I'm saying is that if you base your opinion of someone's music off of their image and music videos, you're retarded
>stevis confirmed not going to the party or the show
I'm a big Bowie fan but Grimes rubs me the wrong way. I think it's because I feel she's copying his shtick. I like the song Realiti, but not much of the rest. Bowie had the music to back up the image, and dropped the costumes after a while. I wish I wasn't so turned off by her.
She's better than Bowie.
Bowie, like the Beatles, was an "emperors new clothes" situation. Everyone had to say it was good, everything from the 60s is exempt from criticism.
Grimes is superior to Bowie. I'm not going to say what's fashionable, I'm going to say what's true.
yeah i'll give you that
too bad grimes is still inferior to st.vincent
>an artist that made top tier rock opera, art rock and glam rock, collaborating with some of the greatest musicians of all time, compared to a small-time synthpop artist who would have almost no fans if she wasnt cute
nice bait ya got there
Not even a big Grimes fan but I've been recently digging Art Angels (a lot more than Visions). For my taste her poppier singles have always been her strength and her more strange songs generally come off a little cringey so this last album was a good step for her. Well produced, catchy tunes with some subversive lyrics makes for her best output yet IMO regardless of image and fanboyism.
