What does /mu/ think of rym's top5 for each decade? What do you think 10s will look like by the end of the decade?
cmon carry and lowell? id ont hate it but it literally sounds like every white guy with an acoustic guitar whose recorded an album. not that any of those albums have that much merit but that one seems to stick out as being the most mediocre, nothing to stand out about it album
I definitely understand all the hype surrounding Sufjan Stevens and his behind if you catch my drift
i have no idea what you could possibly be talking about
although, this pic does give me a boner, not sure why
I predict the 10s ending something like this:
3. Fourth Kendrick album
4. Radiohead 2016
5. Arcade Fire 2017
also there's never a bad time for more suffy
>no jazz in 60s
>4 80s albums above Daydream Nation
>everything about that 10s section
70s and 00s are more or less how I'd expect them. The 90s is surprisingly the only one that's actually a pretty good selection of albums.
not him, but the bends and Siamese dream are not worthy of best 90s albums.
graduation is the 2nd worst kanye album of the 00s.
Too much bowie
Too much Radiohead in general (only OKC and Kid A should be anywhere)
But the 60s list is pretty good
>the bends and Siamese dream are not worthy of best 90s albums.
>graduation is the 2nd worst kanye album of the 00s.
those are really up to personal preference, but i guess that's not the case on /mu/
>Too much bowie
>Too much Radiohead in general
yeah, gotta agree with that one tbqh, knew that as I made it, i just love those albums too much to not put them on there
Trout Mask Replica
Blonde on Blonde
The Velvet Underground & Nico
Double Nickels On the Dime
From Her To Eternity
Yerself Is Steam
Slow Deep And Hard
Spirit They've Gone Spirit They've Vanished
That was pretty hard. Had to set a limit of two albums per artist when I realised how much Sonic Youth shits on every other 80s band.
Also, so far the 10s are an absolutely dreadful decade.
>Spirit They've Gone Spirit They've Vanished
He has a bunch of albums rated higher than these from the 00s
Also 10s would be HOOM, The Archandroid, Tragedy, The Mother of Virtues and something else
This is a pretty solid list, why KC in the 80s but none in the 70s?
Murmuure is a great inclusion too, not sure about Newsroom though.
Why did you pick In a Silent Way over Bitches Brew? The latter is much more interesting.
Go back to listening to Coldplay you pleb
It has nothing to do with conflicting opinions, I honestly don't like Kendrick that much, but claiming that they're only rated highly because the artists are black is racist and not a real argument against them.
If anything that's a way of dismissing other people's music opinion by saying it's race based, instead of actually saying what you don't like about hip hop or those specific artists/albums
>why KC in the 80s but none in the 70s?
I like King Crimson's 70s oeuvre quite a lot, I just like those other albums more. I've always found them to be one of those bands that consistently releases great material, but never releases anything that's absolutely outstanding. All their albums from Islands to Discipline are 8/10s in my opinion, Discipline just stands out more in the 80s (one of my least favourite decades) than any of their 70s albums stand out in the 70s (probably my favourite decade). It's also probably my favourite KC album overall, though it's very close.
>Murmuure is a great inclusion too, not sure about Newsroom though.
Have One On Me is easily my favourite album of the decade so far. I wouldn't put any of those other choices even on the same level, although Slow Focus and Murmuüre are indeed great albums.
>Why did you pick In a Silent Way over Bitches Brew? The latter is much more interesting.
Both are excellent, but I've always seen In a Silent Way as being much more refined in its approach and execution (even though it came first). Bitches Brew has some brilliant moments and development arcs, particularly on the title track and Miles Runs the Voodoo Down, but there are a lot of parts that seem to drag on for too long or just fail to make much of a lasting impression. IaSW, on the other hand, is about as close to a perfect album as you can get without being Tago Mago.
i regret making this
yeah scaruffi is pretty cool dude :^)
I disagree about KC, I think that Red and ITCOTCK are 10/10s, then again I give out way too many 10/10s.
I find that they're a band of many extremes, they're either extremely good or extremely bad, and they've shown how they can go from up to down to back up very quickly multiple times.
I've never been big on Newsom but I have liked some of her past work, not enough to call it album of the decade though.
I think that Bitches Brew is more interesting, a part two and a sequel to IaSW. I find that IaSW lacks a lot of the incredible mindblowing parts that blew me away on Bitches Brew, it has its own way of captivating the listener, I agree. But I just personally think Bitches Brew is better.
And Tago Mago is fucking fantastic, easily in my top 10 of all time.
What? I don't like Arcade Fire.
Sonic Youth have a few decent albums and Daydream Nation is some fantastic stuff but they're not even in my top 100 artists.
DUDE DADS LMAO
I swear to god, when will Seerfags fuck off? To Be Kind is so much better.
The Dreaming is great, that was a hard one to leave out of mine. Vespertine is lower tier Bjork though
lol epic man
Great underrated album. The new November Novelet is great too, if you haven't heard that.
I'm gonna check out that Annie Gosfield album.
>Lust for Life > The Idiot
>ITAOTS above Nevermind

Won't note that one because i understand its qualitites but it doesn't touch me as it could. It's around a 5 for me but i perfectly understand how it could be a 10 for some people and i'm okay with that
idk, bad moon rising was pretty good so this one is probably good as well
only one listening, idk
only one listening, english not being my mother tongue limit how i can enjoy hip-hop in english, probably a good record though
never listened to
never listened to and would probably dislike
see my opinion on the wu-tang clan
Again, except the production is terribly overrated seriously guys
8 maybe only listened to it twice
I not that fussed on any 10s album apart from This is Happening
60s-00s are fine, boring and predictable, but fine.
2010s are awful. The top album is one of the worst albums I've ever heard. The two Kedrick Lamar albums are vastly overrated. C+L is alright, but no way that album should be anywhere near a top 5 for a decade.
