My 160GB iPod classic's hard drive has finally died, should I spend money on repairing it or getting something completely different? What's the best music player with decent storage?
i'm waiting for the day mine breaks down. it's almost 8 years old, can't last that much longer
shit, why didn't I buy a back-up one when they were still in stores? You've got me paranoid about mine now.
Get a FiiO X1/X3 with an SD card.
If you want 2 SD card slots, get X5.
>get a 3g classic
>don't learn until i get it that i have to go spend more money on some firewire charger bullshit
just get another 5g with the expectation that it will likely die after 2-3 years.

>My 160GB iPod classic's hard drive has finally died
I'm so sorry
>>61859380
get a flash memory conversion kit
https://www.iflash.xyz/
In the same boat OP, except mine was in water.
got it in rice
it runs, but can't hold a charge for more than 10 min or so.
Really hurt.
>>61859483
thanks for the info.
this erases the ipod, yes?
>>61859380
Why don't you people just use a smart phone?
My 16GB Xperia Z2 + 64GB SD card does me absolutely fine. My next phone will probably have 256GB of space though.
>that flash memory reliability
>>61859496
Obviously, you'll put a new hard drive in it
>>61859506
Speaking of smart phones. My M9 always has an irritating 1 second gap between the songs. I've tried different music apps that offer gapless songs but it never works.
Are all Android phones like this?
>>61859750
not only Android - my lumia 535 have the same gap, which makes me bat-shit insane, cause i used to gapless ipod track changing
>>61859796
I have no idea if iPhones have gapless track changes like the iPods but I'd assume they do. This is the one thing I hate about listening to music on smart phones. Ruins albums that have tracks that segue into one another.
Anything under £100 that's worth getting?
>>61860031
A Sansa Clip+
Or just use your damn phone.
>>61860048
>A Sansa Clip+
cheers m8 looks like a good temp replacement and I have an awful phone
>>61860068
Fair enough. I don't even have a smart phone (I have to travel in Central Asia a lot and haven't been to the US in years, so no point), so I know how that goes.
Get a Clip+, a 128GB or 256GB micro card, and then look into getting Rockbox firmware installed on it (it's easy).
>>61859750
>>61859796
My nexus 5 does not seem to suffer the same fate
>>61859750
Rocket player + prime version desu
>>61860087
This is also a great idea. Clip+ are such a good device. It makes me tempted to get one again even though I don't need it(gave last one to nanna).
Just buy this and put it in your phone

>>61859796
Best I've found is Poweramp. I went ahead and paid for it.
>>61859750
have you tried blackplayer?
>needing that much fucking storage
just put whatever you listening to currently on your phone or whatever.
>>61862531
>not having enough music to fill it
Spotted the pleb.
>>61862531
Some people travel, basement dweller.
>>61859380
My personal choice is a smart phone with an SD card. I can cart around a huge chunk of my library and stream what isn't stored on the phone from Play Music or Spotify, and imo streaming capability is far better than more storage.
One thing to watch out for is the phone's audio quality. I'm still not sure if my One m8 was defective or something, but there was a massive sound quality upgrade when I moved up to an LG G4.
why the FUCK did apple stop making ipod classics
>all these people suggesting to use your phone
maybe I don't want to drain my phone by listening to music you savages. different devices for different purposes is way better.
>>61859380
Smack it really hard, I thought my hard drive failed but I got it working again by doing that.
>>61862531
>having a smartphone
>not only having a smartphone, but also using that smartphone as a music player
>>61862708
This. Don't want my phone to die halfway through the day
>>61862708
neo-mu is pleb as fuck. These kids are probably really young and never grew up in a time where you had a device specifically for music.
Neo-/mu/ reacts to ipods

>>61862729
That's because doing such readjusts the rotational velocidensity.
off-topic but my iphone 5s is an absolute piece of shit and i'm thinking of upgrading to an android device soon
what's a good one on verizon
i want massive battery life btw
thx
>>61862782
i don't feel like making a new thread/bothering them
>>61862759
I figured as much. It's been working for about 2 years since I did that.
>>61859380
get a smartphone with a 200GB SD card you fucking autist
>>61859415
Dude I've had mine for seven years I really hope it dosnt crash and burn
>>61862808
yeah why would you use a dedicated device with longer battery and better sound quality when you can just use your phone!
If someone were buying a nice camera would you tell them to "just use their phone"???
IDIOT
My iPod hard drive has some corrupted sectors or whatever and a high number of reallocs so I can only get my library up to the artists beginning with G onto it
Life is suffering, is there anything I can do?
>>61863119
I wonder if anyone actually bought these.
>>61863119
What a horrible shape
Who the fuck thought that was a good idea
>>61859424
>FiiO X1/X3
Why is it so ugly anon
My 120g Zune still works.
Why not Iphone + Spotify
>>61863195
why don't they bring Zune back now that iPod classics are gone? fuck why is nobody filling this huge niche that now exists with no competition
>>61859380
Buy a Msata adapter and put a 1tb ssd into it senpia
>>61863232
Because it does not work on the subway, maybe.
>>61863155
Because it's for listenin' you rube
>got iPod 6 from brother
>"32"GB
>half of it taken up by apps I don't want and can't uninstall
>can't make sense of iTunes
who /eightyyearsold/ here?
>been fine for years, few scratches but whatever
>lend it to workmate for ~2 hours
>gives it back
>weirdass black lines across the screen
>they've now morphed into a big ass black circle right in the middle
Works fine otherwise though
My iPod Classic sadly passed away a month ago, i've been looking here and there for a new high-capacity MP3 player. Eventually I bought a 64gb Iphone 5 to use as an MP3 player (got it on Kijiji for $120)
What's the best bang-for-your-buck High-Cap MP3 Player on the market today? I'm interested in the Sony Walkman ZX2 or the Marshall London but i'm not willing to deck out $1000+ on an MP3 dollar, especially since the Canadian Dollar is tanking as of late. Any suggestions to help out a poor canadafag /mu/ms?
>>61863534
Samefag here, also interested in getting a used Ipod Classic but the prices for them are astronomical on Ebay/Amazon... I've also heard that there was a patch for iTunes that cut compatibility between your computer and the Ipod, is this true anons?
>>61859380
sony walkman nwz-a17 is what i've been using with a 128GB SD card.
I wish there was a cell phone that emphasized on the music player aspect.
Any of you guys have skins on your iPod? I was thinking about this one
>>61863727
the new lgv10 has a decent headphone amp built in but it's a bit more of a camera oriented phone.
>>61863763
that's pretty cute.
>>61859750
Shuttle is a good player with gapless playback
>>61863783
>camera oriented phone.
I hate this. if I wanted to take good pictures I'd but an actual camera. I guess the same thing could be said about music players.
I also hate how smartphones are looking like a small tablet.
>>61863593
>Samefag here
What did he mean by this?
>>61859846
>I have no idea if iPhones have gapless track changes like the iPods
They do
>>61864058
dunno, i'm a newfag idiot
>>61859506
>16GB Xperia Z2 + 64GB SD card
>80GB
>being enough
>ever
