Oasis were pretty much the worst britpop band.

As for the best in general for me is a three-way battle the aforementioned Blur, Pulp and Mansun.

I did my GCSE English paper on "Writing to Inform, Instruct and Persuade" about the Battle of the Bands.

I cannot for the life of me remember who I argued in favour of, though.

At the time I would probably have felt blur. But I think peer pressure may have made me say Oasis (I went to state school). Nowadays, I'd say Oasis. Or Supergrass/Pulp/Verve. Or the Manics. Or Suede.

Oasis is what I listened to when I just wanted great melodies and optimistic lyrics.

Blur is what I listened to when I wanted to somewhat challenge my ears a bit but still enjoy most of the music. The Magic Whip is one of my favorite Blur albums and it's not even part of the Britpop era.

Liam in track pants on totp straight off the council estate, 19 year old scally singing Live Forever, singing not miming, sorry it's over. Let's face it blur could have been accountants or something. Oasis were real. Rags to riches classic.

Basically Blur has not one song as good as Live Forever. Therefore Oasis. GOAT.
