Metal General: Groovy Edition
Old thread: >>61800883
>tfw I'm talking to a girl who claims to be a huge metalhead
>really she just listens to deathcore and djentcore and other mainstream types of metal
>She says she likes emo and then talks about Hawthorne Heights
>Now she's on a tirade about her favorite edgy obscene band names/song titles
>tfw I have to nod and agree because this is the only girl I've ever talked about 'metal' with
>tfw I'm really an atmoshitter slowly trying to groom her into a patrician dronewhore and she's not having it
what's some /metal/ approved deathcore to help me cope with this?
Post some more stoner metal I'm bored and its 3am.
even neckbeard men are only pretending to like atmoshit, what do you want from her? She likes meal just go with it
>tfw accidentally clicked /lgbt/ while posting this and not sure if that means I'm right or wrong
SPEED DEMONS CRY
THEEEEEEEEE HEEEEEEEELL PAAAAAAAAATROOOOOOOOOL
desu I don't even feel anything romantic about her I just want to get her into less embarrassing shit before she makes a fool of herself by talking about how much of a trve metalhead she is for listening to Born of Osiris
I had a gf years ago who was into Rompeprop and shit
>mfw now she's an ultra normie who just takes pictures of herself at weddings
the hot ones never really like it, they're just pretending to annoy their dads
It's so hard to talk about dream theater, scenes from a memory is a legitimately great album but they put out so much putrid shit around their one or two good albums it's so hard to even fucking recommend them.
>talking to a girl on text message
>tfw i'm lying
I love how bands like MO can release 2 hour long albums and keep me invested all the way through and by the end of one DT song i'm already ripping my hair out
fuck that band and their fans even harder
IT'S GOTTA BE MORE
IT'S GONNA BE WAR
WHO'S THE GOD
WHO'S THE DOG
>so you're trying to make her listen to drone metal instead
drone is patrician, and also the antithesis of djent
Yeah, I see how I came off as that. When I said I tried to get her into trve metal I forgot to preface that we've been friends for years but this is the first time we've talked in a while. I just got kinda irked when she said "I listen to a lot of stuff ranging from Chelsea Grin to Carnifex" and that turned me into aspie mode
the moment where you've listened to painkiller 10 times in a row and decide to check out the rest of the album is the most incredible meal listening experience you ever have.
we've all gone full sperg from time to time anon, just take it easy. There are plenty of good bands that appeal to grills, you don't have to force her to like PERVERTEDBLAKKNOIZE right away you know? Nobody's keeping score.
what are some good bands that have diverse vocals similar to akercocke, devin townsend, ghoul, and other such bands and artists that utilize a wide or full range of metal vocals?
can you rec a few choice songs that highlight their more diverse tracks?
It fucking baffles me how these 5ft skinny, long haired japs create the grooviest metal around. The lyrics are whatever but the vocals are downright perfect for this type of music.
Looking forward to the new album (first album with no serial killer themes)
Pls come to teh states.
>(first album with no serial killer themes)
Where did you hear this? The track titles on the websites all have the names of serial killers, as with most of their other stuff
Get the fuck out! I didn't even know they posted the tracks but I read somewhere that tatsu didn't have lyric duty as he has with every album so he let Carlson write the songs. It was an article I found a few months ago (literally trying to find this as I type)
Didn't know they dropped a new song either
Last paragraph, but this is not the article I originally saw maybe the no serial killer theme was my imagination but that was my whole hype desu I was sure they could pull off another Vol. 1
Dir En Grey and The Dillinger Escape Plan have Deathcore influences presumably.
Try those I say
I wish there were more groovy up-tempo stoner/sludge meal like Church of Misery and Herder.
crush the hipsters, crush the lies
I just realized Abrahadabra is now 5 fuckin' years old. What the shit are Dimmu Borgir even doing now? Did they just take the hint and quit since their last 4 albums (including the rerecording of Stormblast) were exercises in worse-than-mediocrity?
>literal slam deathcore garbage with shit production and vox over shitty boring brodowns
>shitty, wanky, overproduced, aimless, and basically structureless garbage, void of any personality
>better than mediocre generic tech death band
Becoming The Archetype - Terminate Damnation
The Red Chord - Fused Together In Revolving Doors
Embodyment - Embrace The Eternal
>Vale of pnath is as shit as archspire
Not really, they're certainly not good but they're not nearly as "look how fast we can do shit sweeps and ignore our nonexistent song writing ability" as Archspire, and most slam is complete shit but at least most of it is not extremely overproduced and fused with shitty brodowns like ingested
it's been a while
it's pretty fucking flawless in all honesty, not to mention pretty unique
Sludge requires literally no talent to play though. All the riffs are basic bitch shit and the only real schtick the genre has is "hurr durr im so angry where's my fix".
So, in a previous thread I saw someone refer to ROTN as hardcore. Are you fucking dumb? It's time for /metal/ to realize what hardcore actually is.
Hardcore is Negative Approach, Discharge, Bad Brains, Minor Threat and Anti-Cimex.

Use google with artist album and potentially year along with blogspot, rar, or blog. If that doesn't yield, metalarea or darkworld. I use my buddy's account on a metal torrent if all else fails.
If all the above fail, I buy it.
play her my shit, that's pretty obscure - ie, no fucker listens ;)
>ctrl f - no Pungent Stench :O
Lol, I think "Horny piggy bank" has been purged from jewtube, check it out, best break up song ever ;)
That's Mayhem in 1990 while they were touring in Izmir, Turkey.
Here's another pic.
Also that's a photo which was taken during the concert.
Your welcome anon.
Mayhem's İzmir concert was a big mystery for Turkish metal scene. No one knows how they accepted to play in Turkey and who convinced them etc. As you know, with their original lineup, they have played 2 live shows; Liepzig and İzmir. Unfortunately no more photos or soundclips available from the show. As I heard, soundclips destroyed by the Turkish police to protect people from Satanic acts. lol.
Makes me feel weird too, It's a big mystery.
they're Ukrainian anyway.
try Deafknive (pic related) and Elderwind
There's no proof. Because of the reactionist regime of Turkish government and Turkish people, that's possible. The show was cut short halfway as local police told the venue owner to cut the power and they invaded the show. Mayhem played only 5 songs.
Better go write about how offended you are on tumblr.
sounds amazing. hope it's from the split, abigor posted a snippet aswell.
you probably already know but thats all I know t b h
A lot of pic related has clean vocals
it's also fucking fantastic so that's good
i swear this whole anti atmoblack shitposting is just from this one autist who insists on keeping up with the memes
I love this guys
Ryonikis is the one who went on a crusty cross country trip. When I disappear it's mostly just to play video games. I 100%ed FF13-2, and did a lot of Lightning Returns and just restarted Dragon's Dogma with the PC release.
They are a pretty good band. Fun bouncy melodies, really catchy. I've shared them in the past. Good cover art too.
Best choruses of any metal album.
Post godly guitar tone
Oh cool, I actually took too long replying back because I'm playing Dragon's Dogma right now. I just paused to check the thread.
And yeah I had a feeling it was someone else, but it's been so long since I've seen him here I'd forgotten his name.
Meanwhile I need to do the same thing. I want to play FF13-2, but I wish I didn't have to play FF13 first. Ah well.
They sum up a lot of stuff honestly so you don't need to play 13 first. That said, I enjoyed 13 when I played it back on 360 but avoided the endgame as it was quite the dreadful grind. If you really can't deal with the linearity then it's probably better to avoid, but I still had a lot of fun just following the rails and the crazy story.
are they actually this good?
They're not overrated, and they're definitely better than Running Wild. They have a better track record for consistency than Gamma Ray, and Helloween is a tough call and I'd think it comes down to preference, but I still enjoy Blind Guardian more.
What's the first metal album you think of when you see pic related?
I'm surprised an album as incredible as pic related is not being discussed in here more often.
The guitar tone is hard hitting as hell, it's full with adrenaline and energy, the riffs and the drumming are incredibly satisfying and fulfilling
This album is phenomenally good. that's my opinion about it.
To all you Blind Guardianfags...why don't you show some love for Rage? They are by FAR the most underrated band from German power metal scene
They put to shame bands like Running Wild and Blind Guardian
>They put to shame bands like Blind Guardian
You are putting yourself in an embarrassing situation senpai
They do, the artcover of When the Kite String Pop reads "J.W. Gacy"
>the artcover of When the Kite String Pop reads "J.W. Gacy"
the cover was made my Gacy, Pogo the clown was the the clown name Gacy had when he kidnapped kids
They never had lyrics about Real Life serial Killers though, even though death, drugs and abortion were a common theme in the record (as it would be expected from a sludge record)
gacy drew his serial killer thing
they used it as a cover
now if you want some interesting shit with Gacy, the members of Macabre knew Gacy on a personal level and GG Allin was friends with him
can we all just go full autistic circlejerk fanboy mode and say under the force of courage is the best written power metal album? I've been listening to power meal for 15 years now and haven't really heard a power metal album on the same level of songwriting.
This and Rain of Tears are the "worst" songs on the album.
They're not bad, but they're lower than better songs like the title track, Voice of Grievous Cry (my favorite), and Soul of the Field.
>bait this poorly crafted
Listening to this band for the first time and I think its great melodic metal.
What other albums of theirs are worth listening?
There's a bunch more wing flavors, there's Possessed Wings, Emperor Wings, and Immortal wings, Dragonforce Wings, Helloween wings.
For april fools they did a prank where they introduced Deafheaven, Agalloch and Burzum wings because they want the starbucks crowd.
They are still great. I've seen them a couple times, the first time they were just touring for touring's sake and they played an amazing setlist of mostly their first 3 albums and some from HCDR.
Then I saw them again when they were supporting Blooddrunk's release, and that was a pretty meh set list because that album is terrible. Still played a couple good older songs though.
If they area touring in support of I Worship Chaos, that is a decent album. And if they play some Halo of Blood songs that would be really great to see, that album fucking slays
he's talking about the random solos between songs when they just dick around. They range from good to why are you even doing this please stop
No I know, he is talking about in their concerts they do a long intermission of just jamming and a duel of solos between Alexi and Warman.
It is either great or terrible.
This for example. Unless I way misread what the first guy said about their solos
