As much as I enjoy Death Grips, this is probably the worst general I've seen for any topic at all. Almost none of the posts have any discussion or substance, just memes, "WUT" "lmao", and people ranking some songs in order. No wonder Death Grips' fanbase is so frowned upon.
Death Grips fans are the best type of dudes
I gotta admit though I don't see the idea in ranking some songs
MY LIFE AS A FACE WITHOUT EYES
NO REPLY, I'M BEYOND ALIVE
MY LIFE AS A FACE WITHOUT EYES
NO REPLY, I'M BEYOND ALIVE
(I like it), but if I disliked it I'm not sure I'd use the term 'lifeless'
it gives off a very hot-blooded vibe to me. Good first impression for the groups overall sensibilities even though they evolve a lot after that
What do you think of it compared to other songs on Exmil? I love Guillotine, Takyon, Spread Eagle, Lord of the Game because they have their own "personality". Guillotine has that echo effect and repitition/glitch style. Takyon is aggressive and very energetic, Lord of the Game kind of sounds like a TMS track with more emphasis on electronic stuff, Spread Eagle's guitar fits well and Ride changes up the vocals a lot. Beware just seems...bland.
DG EP: Where's it at
ExM: I want it I need it
TMS: ??? I genuinely can't come up with one
NLDW: World of Dogs
GP: Anne Bonny
NOTM: Have a Sad Cum BB
I think compared to those, 'Beware' is the most obvious mix of primal/animalistic/organic and industrial cyberpunk feeling, perhaps primarily due to the raw streched out obvious samples used and the lyrical content. I mean the lyrics feel like they came out of a different concept album altogether. The ruthless sampling just makes it a washed out, pulverizing and angry experience. I don't think that kind of texture is present on their other songs. Honestly, the album cover they used. Pic related, the photo of that guy, his facial expression, the background, everything. You can really feel the heat coming out of that picture and I think 'Beware' is the most obvious candidate as to what comes to my mind when looking at the photo. I don't even think about the rest of the album when looking at the pic, I just think of 'Beware'. It's probably no surprise that the song seems to exist so largerly in it's own vacuum upon closer inspection, because I remember reading that it was added to the track listing at the last second or something. I could be wrong though.
I used to think that but then I gave it a proper listen and on top of the rising guitar whine being very transcendent, Ride is excellent on it.
I AM BELOW SO FAR BELOW THE BOTTOM LINE
>Only time they are straight-forward and preachy
No, it's the only time that Ride is straight-forward in the way he confronts the shortcomings of technology when they are used to fuel the egotistical needs of a self-obsessive species. You could use this technology to inform yourself of the truth, (i.e. you/microcosm & the universe/marcocosm) but choose to delude yourselves further by going about with your lives with no purpose, floundering the environment around you with no real intention to do anything but continue your meaningless routines day in, day out.
"I gouge you till you're free as my testimony to the powers that b" He'll keep screaming until you fucking morons stop living in this delusion you call 'reality'.
All it takes is to meditate. 95% of this board that pity themselves to such extremes, will forget such worries ever befitted them.
You aren't the body you reside in. This is not the first life you have lived. You will live, you will die, and you will live again.
If one of you learns from this, it's enough.
Yet again the lonesome creature looks for recognition in his dislikes, like his opinion ever had any real meaning or substance other than what was assigned to it by the brainwashed monkey falling into the bottomless pit.
so did Zach do all those björk samples with electronic drums or what
I imagine Andy then moved them around or something
how does Stefan know how the vocals come into play
Do they all produce it together?
Actually sounds like it to me
Fuck this arg bullshit, y'all getting played
since when did boxenstein become /mu/ mod? rip i guess
original titles of the songs
the only one that doesnt have it is Hacker, which should be Hacker (Abgryodus mind)
They originally released a zipfile containing full moon, next grips, death heated, god block, and abgryodus mind. i forgot if there were any others
that pastebin was a qr code. what the fuck does this mean? ------>
>go on the subreddit
>boxenstein is back
>everyone is sucking his dick hardcore because he didnt kill himself
>mfw he was just a fucking drama queen that pretended to leave for attention
fuck that subreddit
a black kid around 21 named Kyle Polk was killed in Portland, Oregon a few days ago. Reaching as hell but that's all that comes to mind with "polk"
or maybe they like the president and wanna annex texas too
Death Grips are very fun.
Anons, considering there was some guitar on Jenny Death, would you like it if the next Death Grips album will have even more guitar in it to a point where it could almost be classified as a very aggressive punk album?
This would not bother me if they do it right. So far they're killing it as far as transitioning sounds and experimentation is concerned so honestly they could announce the next album having nothing but a flute on it or some shit and I'd still be excited to see what kind of crazy shit they do with it.
you can have a blog for anything legal, same as you can post whatever here
there are blogs for nazi fetishists
it just happens to have a lot of, well, a certain kind of people where it gets its reputation from
this makes me so mad. these people don't understand the deep concept of death grips. they just quote memeable lines from their songs because they're too stupid to read into them. they just repeat those memes and keep on living their empty lifes.
people didn't like notm at first despite it being the musical manifestation of the death grips aesthetic. makes perfect sense.
nah dawg, govt plates feels incomplete, like a demo or something. notm has some of the most personal, dark while simultaneously uplifting shit going on, and musically it's so dense and wonderful. I really wish Jenny Death was more in the vein of that album, but alas, it's also pretty cool. I think TPTB acts as a sort of yin/yang in that way, with both discs reflecting the whole of what death grips has been and pointing towards what it may become
No mine either, but those eerie purple-y synths and Ride's performance throughout is pretty much how I would describe DG's sounds as a whole.
It is incomplete, and we both know that notm is a one off even though it's the best thing they've ever done.
wait, this Boxenstien?
wasn't he doing Buckethead covers and made similar music before/around 2011 ?
I remember he had a vid showcasing some Buckethead stuff, he got like 10 vids now.
not him but,
speaking of notm
I find that I can't really listen to it as a standalone piece. I pretty much always need to hear the entirety of Jenny Death immediately after, otherwise I feel unbalanced
nice, reminds me of a relationship I had
that makes sense. I think I recall seeing a fanblog for the dude who shot up that Aurora theater
the best track on Jenny Death for me was Inanimate Sensation. I also liked Pss Pss a lot. I want more disgusting synthesizers from Death Grips.
It's not so easily summarised with words, as the truth can never be conveyed in such a way. If you read and comprehend the lyrics in 'Beware', it would give some indication of how this is achieved. Ego death and being illuminated into the powers of the universe.
But everyone is transfixed on living in their delusions that they cannot see such blatant symbolism, unless it's through the usual mediums.
I think notm has this really almost passive aggressive, reckless, "ironic" high speed atmosphere and Jenny Death sort of drops you back to earth, or some place and makes you calm down a bit. It just sounds a lot more reflective and feels like a return to some form of sincerity even though it feels a lot more 'epic' than notm
no dumbass, the terms in the photo, they're a way for film-studies students to better classify the shit they're writing about, studying, and whatever else they're doing. don't be such a weenie
>This track is awful, the drums don't even make me feel good
SALT N PEPPER = BLACK AND WHITE = YIN AND YANG = THE MONEY STORE

de-fucked the audio but im half asleep so i think i mightve left a few unnecessary knobs turned and fucked the audio up even more but you can hear ride a little better now
If it's being posted, I don't know why. Usually I write to you in death grips threads only and don't say more than I need to.
Hopefully it doesn't bother you.
