To elaborate, some of his favourites are Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Charley Pride.
He also likes Born in the USA-era Springsteen and some oldies like Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis.
>tfw he hates Bob Dylan so much that he pretends to forget his name to avoid saying it
My dad is a nascar dad but he doesn't listen to anything in any of those categories. I don't think he actively listens to music. Only when he's in his truck listening to the radio.
Elvis is really the only thing I can think of that he likes. Maybe The Bee Gees too.
My dad is still pretty young so his kind of stuff is stuff like Joy Division, Human League, Gary Numan etc. and then some bretty good indie stuff like the Smiths, Stone Roses, Wedding Present
He also likes some of the stuff that I put on his MP3 player like Vampire Weekend and Sufjan Stevens
my Dad is really into Ed Sheeran, Bon Iver and Adele
I literally can't play anything in the care with him without him telling me it's "just noise" or that it makes him want to slit his wrists.
Was playing Fiona Apple in his car recently and he hated it so I think he just hates anything that isn't basic as fuck.
You guys have some young dads. My dad is in his 60s so while he likes some stuff from the 80s and beyond that's not generally his taste. He knows a lot about popular music from the 60s and 70s. He has pretty good taste I think except he's not that into stuff that's very experimental. He's a musician for his job so he does know about music, but he isn't very artsy.
My dad listens to:
>Simon and Garfunkel
>Paco de Lucia
>Crosby, Stills & Nash
>various Cleveland Orchestra recordings
yes my dad has tom waits cassettes, jazz, classical vinyls, pink floyd vinyls, gil scott heron vinyls
and he never did drugs
my patrician dad kicks the fuck out of all your fathers
My Dad loves Frank Zappa and Hawkwind. Apparently Zappa is unlce-core but none of my uncles listen to him so I guess I my Dad is the Zappa uncle. He also likes a lot of mainstream jazz. He's pretty open to new music as well surprisingly.
THERE WAS LITERALLY NO POINT IN POSTING THIS IN THIS THREAD.
IT WASN'T B8
IT WASN'T OFF-TOPIC
What are some bands/songs/albums that your dad played a lot in the car, but seem to be rather obscure in contrast to other "dad music"?
Nice try, evil meme wizard but the cat is on my side.
No (you)s for (you)
The only things I know my dad doesn't like are Noise, music with abrasive vocals, and "teeny-bopper" shit (IE; Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park, whiny Hot Topic core).
I showed him some /mu/core and he seemed to like it fine. He has Kid A, Remain In Light, and Loveless physical.
fuck no, hes like a level below the nascar dad
he listens to the foo fighters, maroon 5, and lifehouse, basically all of the worst radio dreck you could imagine
i dont understand, hes a really smart dude and my grandpa is a huge music buff
