unholy thrash metal edition
>the perfect meal album
come on now
Does anyone have the Blessed Be My Brothers spurdo?
Fug Mudslibs :DDD
Time to settle this!
torn between s/t, under the sing.., bfd, hammerheart, twilight of the gods and blood on ice
Well, pretty much most of the stoner doom from rec charts I already know of.
I know my way around euro power, but I sort of stopped liking it some time ago.
I want to get more into USPM, which I don't know much about. I like speedy/thrashy PM.
listen to jag panzer's first album
omen's first 2 albums
Combine Show no Mercy and Agent Orange and you get Nekromantheon. This album fucking slays. Take a listen, and thank my later.
fuuuuuug this is good shit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9CtzIjhH_A
Already posted this track i just tried to change one riff which was a bit dull but i'm not fully convinvced what do you think of the new one ( ~0:19 )
( Trying to find a personal style in tech-death with both melodic and dissonant influences by the way )
i used to do that a lot before i found out about internet music forums
i found some good shit from fenriz's recs in later darkthrone desu and yea you can find out some especially forgotten shit that no one really talks about anywhere else
When talking about unholy thrash metal, it doesn't get more unholy than a sound that is Blasphemy and teutonic thrash put together.
even the girl groups in j-power have really good musicianship. doll$boxx are really fucking skilled
id post a pic but i'm on campus using my tablet atm and don't have it saved
Exhorder - Slaughter In The Vatican
Chaos Echoes - Transient from last year. Not sure what to make of this. There aren't really any riffs so it's meh from that end, but I love the stuff with the percussion/bass/rhythm section in general.
How the fuck can one go from this to the crap they ended up releasing?
if you don't like the space opera aesthetic that's fine, but being incredibly overblown is the point. they do overblown pretty well, in my opinion - the grooves are quite directed and build up tension very smoothly, and they transition between more djenty and more symphonic sections pretty smoothly. It's fucking shallow but I can't not enjoy that synth lead on Zoticus and how it interacts with the groove.
I admit they're pretty shit, but they're shit with panache.
Yeah. I once got Nation as a present (don't have it anymore). It turned me off Sepultura completely until I listened to their earlier stuff.
prog metal fans BTFO by Steven Wilson
When it comes to Insomnium, all their fans know they are getting melodic death metal. But Carcass has gone from grind to deathgrind to death metal to melodic death metal. Depending on what side of Carcass one fan may like, they may also completely dislike another side of Carcass.
I can see you're new to /metal/.
The archives are meant to find bands and nothing more.
Their ratings as well as who is on the archives is incredibly confusing and questioning their methods is better left to only the people who haven't gone insane already.
Holy shit this album.
Holy shit this fucking closing track.
the audience who'd be reviewing those bands is pretty different. i imagine lots of carcass fans are looking from the perspective of Reek and Symphonies, or even Necroticism. Anyone reviewing an Insomnium album knows what they're getting.
steven wilson is the fred durst of prog
>japan makes great metal
>can hardly find any metal with chinese/japanese instruments included
>only band I've found is Undead Corporation
How is this possible?
>fucks up every project he's in
He's a great producer though
I get some people think pre-wilson Opeth is better, but I can't agree, though i like both
>le xbox is a god to me
He wrote a lot of good lyrics during mid era PT and Blackfield
Orphaned Land, for whom Wilson also produced
japan's music market is mostly internal so you're pretty correct. a lot of bands from more obscure countries will shove in native elements into their music to get more attention from Western consumers. you see this with a lot of Middle Eastern bands especially
So which other band managed to pioneer two metal genres in their career?
>it's another /metal/ thread ruined by weebshit circle jerking
god fuck damn it
havent actuallyl istened to em but saw on a m-a search
musashi are good though, hilarious bass as usual for j-prog, and the riffs remind me of the chrono cross and okami soundtracks
They could be some white kids from a suburban area of Minnesota. If they can make good metal with Asian instruments that don't suck, I'd like them.
But I can never find any metal that does this except for UC.
Give me some metal with tribal drums
(other than Sepultura and Tool)
Young Asian Varg as a black metal DT-playing trap.
Well, there's Whispered
i don't think of japanese metal as "weeb metal" because "weeb" just means someone who's a foreign Japanophile
but Whispered, god damn. Their Japanese pronunciation is like a 10 year old acting out fight scenes from Bleach. They're goddamn hilarious.
>japan makes great metal
>only band I've found is Undead Corporation
>all other bands suggested to him are also japanese
Doesn't seem unreasonable to restrict it to Japan, does it?
Well, that's not what your original message said... But yeah, if you don't care where they're from, then Tennger Cavalry is actually a pretty good option.
So their songs are clustered with horrible Engrish? No thank you. Don't know why but the playing and writing can be GOAT, but if the Engrish is too bad I just can't stand it.
>that's not what your original message said
Well shit. If they can play it well, I don't care where they come from.
Neurosis (self explanatory)
Morbid Angel in a way (A/F, B/G, C/D, H, I are all in different styles even though D, H, and I suck)
Bathory (first album is more similar to Mercyful Fate demo/Venom black metal, next two albums are similar to more bestial black metal, Blood Fire Death is more similar to 2nd wave-esque black metal, Hammerheart is actual viking metal)
Because a Japanese band can play Chinese instruments? Or it could be the usual "jap, chink, same shit they're all yellow, short, and with black hair and funny eyes"
That's not really the point of my conversation with >>61771293 et al.
You can never really "get" bands like Agalloch and WITTR unless you live in the Pacific NW and go into the forest on a wet winter day.
if you like ensiferum-type power/folk/melodeath stuff you'll prob enjoy them. i think they suck personally and the cartoonish folky synths they use don't help
>it's Finnish band
They're obviously meme-ing.
Reminder folky atmoshit is the best atmoshit
Pick random album on Sumerian Records
The Return came out so it's probs Total Destruction or my persona favorite Bathory: Born for Burning
>That break/halftime/whatever you call it part of Born For Burning
>The monstrous vocal effect thing so common in war metal
This is technically Revenge as they just get more primitive and regressive (in a good way) each release.
Also Antediluvian. Went from being an Incantation clone to creating some that's a combination between that Incantation occult death metal and something more technical like Gorguts or Deathspell.
Thank you for this share dmshareguy. Got any recs for similar artists/albums?
fucking hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKmo4mX5QBQ
cant spell rap without crap am I right
pretty sure it's the other way around
also what's with this metalfags hating rap and rapfags hating metal meme, it's been going for ages and it's still not funny nor will it ever be senpai sbh desu
LIKE I DO
because it has edgy music, edgy lyrics and edgy pretty much everything, at least that's what I was told by people who listen to rap and dislike metal
not sure why metalfags hate rap though
rapfags' idea of metal is Five Finger Death Punch and 3 Days Grace 2bh
the average metalfag's idea of hip hop is generic trap like Waka, Gucci Mane and Migos
everyone is ignorant of everything, in general
rapfags are just like normies, they'll dislike anything that has any other kind of vocals instead of cleans or some raspy vocals like nickelback
no because the lyrics are just "edgy teen angst bullshit"
There's probably some better power metal, but I haven't listened to a lot of it that came out in 2015. The rest should be pretty accurate.
Anybody know anything similar? I want more Stoner Prog. No Atlanta Sludge pls.
Stoned Jesus' Seven Thunders Roar is almost as good
Ignore the first three albums on this chart.
this song reminds me of that one track from tony hawk's underground 2, specifically the intro riffing
i'd post the song it reminds me of but my internet is too shitty to even bother looking atm
