Does /mu/ still like vaporwave?
Does /mu/ still like floral shoppe?
that album had so much personality (atleast the first 4) which is why I can go back to it. Kind of bummed some releases sound no different than other vaporwave compilations. And by that I mean you could play them on shuffle and not really notice as you would with those comps. they're not bad but I think it's getting tiring. I need to make a chart of my favorites and ask for recs.
oh and yeah, I still like the genre.
Question regarding one of the Windows XP system sounds.
What is the airy pad instrument specifically called? How can I replicate it through a synth? I understand the ADSR settings, but what method of synthesis should I use, how should the LFO look, etc.
Example of the sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nQ2oiVqKHw
not bait and i don't really like vaporwave although i think that sound is nice and i figured anyone that know anything about vaporwave production has already been through this. i'm not very great at designing specific sounds so i thought i might as well ask considering this is a redundant thread anyways
sorry I meant the top comment in the video. I'll bump the thread from to time to time to keep this as the main one theough out the day. I feel like we are constantly starting over and over from the begining.
post some jamz
>he doesn't know about afrovape
Kill yourself desu
>no S U R F I N G in the lit
I don't think so, son.
this is jay-z's album
I like it, listening to more Vektroid and Internet Club stuff.
I listen to vaporwave so unironically u have no idea. I'd say I'm in the luxury-elite school of unabashed immersion in/appreciation of vaporwave aesthetics. it's some of the most comforting music in the world. Like a warm blanket for those of us who remember the feeling of infinite possibility when roaming the aisles of CompUSA in 1997 at age 11. That's just my angle, but it seems to have struck a real chord among people too young to have engaged with any of the source material directly, which speaks to how compelling good vaporwave can be.
God the reviews of this are insufferable
It's like you're not allowed to enjoy something because it stands on its own as a pleasant experience, everything has to be some ironic statement about something else that you enjoy because you're in on the joke
do you think the long-term strategic vision of the vaporwave overlords involves tricking the adolescent male mind into desiring sexual union with a feminized male who they look up to as a role model, sexual partner, and idealized friend? a kind of living god?
do you think the soft jazz music makes this sort of mental-sexual breakdown process easier?
I mean, we are just lab rats running around mental mazes for their amusement. Vaporwave is our way to look them in the eye and say, "Fuck You". I may be a rat in your maze, but I can be a perverted, foolish, mentally retarded rat and there is nothing you can do to stop me!
Vaporwave is so 2014
Trumpwave is the hot new genre of 2016
>Does /mu/ still like vaporwave?
No, it's just been reworked to suit the conflicts involved in various postmodern litanies
>Does /mu/ still like floral shoppe?
Nobody has ever really liked this flaming pile of pablum.
Vaporwave is gay. Future funk is where it's at.
I play this often. I feel like there is a cohesion in the first half that is nonexistent in most others. Too many are just ambient with japs talking in background or a slow voice. Mac plus seems to use the gimmicks with a purpose.
Why do weebs have to ruin everything?
Always pressing their bullshit on everyone because they are top-tier patricians in their own mind because they watch hand-drawn cartoons in a language they don't speak.
They also rage over incorrect grammar and waifus.
Future funk isn't a subgenre of vaporwave, they are two completely different genres with different sounds that just happen to go after the same aesthetic. One is slowed down old pop music that's been filtered and badly cut up, the other is a genre that tries to revive the actual sound of lush, fully-produced 80s funk and synthpop. Vaporwave sounds stupid and goes about achieving its aesthetic in the most autistic way possible while future funk actually tries to sound like good, catchy music you could actually imagine someone from the 80s enjoying. Try playing fucking Macintosh Plus at an 80s night at a club and see how well it goes over.
That literally had nothing to do with anything in this thread. Anti-weebs who try to shoehorn in how much they hate anime everywhere they can even when no one else was talking about it are the absolute most cancerous, obnoxious posters on this entire site. Here's a picture to trigger you some more.
My point was that future funk and vaporwave aim for two completely different sounds, with one trying to be actual dance music and the other being like nightcore but in reverse and badly cut up so that autists think it is deep or musically interesting.
>weaboh degenerate thinks he's triggering me with le wapanese loli drawing
kek. he mentioned japanese in the background of vaporwave. i'm not an idoit.
I KNOW it's wapanese loving faggots creating this bullshit.
No human who is interested in getting pussy is making that weeb-enabling music, I guarantee it.
none of these are vw. i see protomartyr and the young thug cover in has slime season on it for christ's sake
hah I've literally looked at all of these albums hoping that they would be dope because I like roman statues. But these are all notoriously shit and not vaporwave in any way. theres a fucking jz album in there. don't get trolled folks
wouldnt be a vaporwave thread without some self promoting.
vaporpunk just means I use live drums instead of the typical drum machine sound.
this is a pretty good case for vaporwave. I was 5 in 97, but those were the good ole' days. I used to love me some vaporwave, but am definitely starting to lose interest in the genre after a year or so of exploring the genre heavily.

I prefer the more ambientish sounds of tracks like ecco and 数学, which is why I also appreciate pic related much more
who /future funk/ here?
Where do i get a meme button down vaporwindows shirt?
this is one of the best albums I've heard recently, Trumpwave is gonna be YUGE
For me it reminds me of wandering around MFI (uk furnishings store) in early to mid 90s. Looking back it was a pretty bizarre. They would have mock livingroom/kitchen/bedroom setups where things like the TVs and other appliances, books on the shelves and even the fruit would be plastic or cardboard props representing the real thing. It's like you've stepped into a dream home where everything isn't quite real.
And all the while they're piping in music like this:
level. 1 meta memeing ironic self deprecating loser white teenager
not ap hase too bad yur faggot pseudo personality you've created from browsing the internet too much has permeated into an autistic taste for music
holy fuck, if you people claim to like vaporwave, at least listen to the good shit like pic related
>dreamy, spooky-core near the end
Those articles/reviews/comments are written by old hipsters trying to make sense of young art or aspies who are obsessed with sci-fi.
Everybody has been saying that everything is a critique of capitalism bla bla bla it's just a boring thing to say at this point.
Screwed and chopped 80's/90's/pop music. That's literally what it is. Some people have integrated this into electronic music with the vapor trap or "future funk" stuff, but vaporwave par excellence is screwed n' chopped 80's/90's music, period.
how to make classic vaporwave a la Chuck Person
>youtube to mp3 a song
>import it into DAW warped/flexed/stretched to project tempo
>slow tempo w/ sample, resulting in lower pitch
>cut a portion of the song that says something interesting/sounds cool
>paste that over and over again (sounds better if you cut it slightly off time)
>loop quarter/half measures 4-8 times here and there
>add reverb and delay
>add pitch shifting here and there
Not saying that it's bad art because it's easy-- it's really quite beautiful how simple it is, and how much of it can be made.
Sine wave with low (or no) attack. It's a similar tone to an electronic piano. Bear in mind, tho, these Microsoft startup sounds are pretty complex. There's probably 6 or 7 synths going into it
A couple of really fucking interesting questions.
1. What is this?
It was posted in 2010 on the account that has the chuck person uploads / ?official? visuals. Could this perhaps be a lost Eccojam?
2. I'm pretty fucking sure that Blank Banshee and Eco Virtual are the same person. Some people have claimed that Vektroid and Blank Banshee are the same person (?!). There is only one picture I could find of Blank Banshee, which is picrelated. Clearly not Vektroid, but then Blank Banshee wears a mask the rest of the time. Now, Vektroid is trans, so it's not entirely implausible that Vektroid could do two artists with seemingly opposite sexes, assuming that picrelated is not actual Blank Banshee but just a friend of Vektroids. What do you guys think
Does /mu/ know where one can find the full album?
You ppl are perpetually stuck in 2011 ... How whack is that ... download Techno that was made this month off RUtracker ...
