Does this guy just read out his diary entries while playing guitar or something? I swear every song he released after Benji sounds like he's just sitting on a bed with a guitar reading from his diary while playing the same chords over again.
universal themes wasn't that bad. was a bit on the masturbation side especially with the part about him being a "gentleman" but I liked some of the chord choices
but this new shit with jesu my god
It allows him to produce a lot of music with low effort
Here i go
Chord progression is C E A G
Woke up at 10 am
Tried to open my email inbox when my pc crashed so i went to the bathroom and took a shower instead and forgot about it for the rest of the day
When i wanted to prepare breakfast i noticed that i was out of ham so i drove down to ________ (random local grocery store) to buy some with bun
Sat down on my couch and turned on the tv when i saw the news of _________ (random tragic/impactful thing happening) and it was on my mind for the rest of the week
and so on
How did i do?
i was so upset when benji came out
like it's so weird to me how a guy who made an album as atmospheric and deeply meaningful as admiral fell promises can put out something as banal and dull as benji less than half a decade later
i think he just lost all of his capacity to give a shit
i like your voice a lot
Yeah it's fucking shit. The instrumentals on most of the songs sound like a kid who picked up guitar 4 weeks ago and just turns on the distortion and plays some chords.
There was one acoustic song in the middle that was really cool though, even though it was just Mark Kozelek reading diary entries like always.
it's actually kinda cool to hear Mark take his vocals in a more punk/metal-ish direction. and the guitar is simple but it sets a fitting atmosphere, it's like angry shoegaze or something
